  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) I was watching in a bar with no sound on. Coming off the bat I thought it would be a pop up to second. So did I & so did Youk actually. It's just funny to hear Hawk describing it live.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) Remember when Youk hit that granny? Remember when Hawk thought Youk's granny was a routine sac fly?
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) Isn't Beckham's defensive WAR actually negative right now? Just checked...he has a -0.3 DWAR. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/stats/_/id/3.../gordon-beckham Correct me if I'm wrong, but they were discussing this on the Score a few days ago. A chunk of the defensive WAR is based on a player's range. Beckham doesn't necessarily have the greatest range, he doesn't get everything, but what he does get to he catches. From what I understand, that supposed lack of range could have a big effect on his DWAR and be the reason why he is negative?
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) I think the low attendance has more to do with premium pricing though, Sox sold a lot of tickets on the discount Mondays etc., against far lesser "marque" teams than the NYY. The season ticket base has also diminished greatly due to the last few seasons, so that has a major effect on attendance too.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 08:55 AM) Or alternately, if Detroit wasn't playing some of the worst defense in baseball, including 2 or 3 guys who might be the worst regulars at their positions... they'd be well up on the Sox. Two of their top 4 starters are ground ball pitchers as well. They are lucky Verlander & Scherzer strike out so many batters, or their unearned run total would be even worse.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 08:32 AM) Wrong. Public schools started last week. I thought the teachers were walking out as soon as school started?
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) So after an hour or so rain delay the Nats bring Strasburg back after he pitched 2 innings. Do they just not even want to give him a chance to pitch in the post season? Jeez. The more I read, it seems like Boras has turned Rizzo into his little puppet.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) I would be surprised if they lose this series to the Yankees. bump
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) Bad Omar. They aren't keeping him around for his bat
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Blue Jays threatening in the 8th. 5-3. Come on Omar!
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Jones is pretty bad....funny to think Ozzie had him as our DH not to long ago.... He actually crushed lefties in 2010 & 2011. Not so much this year.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) KC/TB still scoreless in the 8th. Nice to see ONE pitching staff shut them down. Their offense didn't exactly kill Sox pitching. It was their pitching that was the problem for the Sox.
  13. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) Great. Angels slumping and they play Detroit next. They are up 5-0 and their worst starter is shutting down Boston at Fenway???
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) Why is the attendance so low in these games? Are the tickets really that expensive? Stupid dynamic pricing... For tomorrow, $33 for the corner upper deck, $42 for the better upper deck, $55 for the outfield. (I know there are codes, but the average fan isn't aware of those.
  15. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:36 PM) Completely embarrassing to hear more Yankee fans over the radio than Sox fans. It shows that only the 1% can afford tickets to this series.
  16. 2nd straight night that the Yankees could have blown it open in the first inning, but the Sox somehow kept it close.
  17. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:13 PM) Alot of empty seats They are priced through the roof for this series. And you have to deal with Yankees fans.
  18. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) Better be tomorrow then because they face Verlander thursday True, although the Tigers are only winning 60% of Verlander's starts this year. The thing is too, if the Sox can manage a win tonight, the pitching matchup is greatly in their favor tomorrow.
  19. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) Detroit will sweep their series against Toronto. Thats why that KC series was so important. We gotta take care of business against Seattle this weekend while we hope the Angels show up in Detroit. No they won't. They will find the way to lose one of these 3 games.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) Junk-ballin lefty with a good change up? That is the kind of guy that gives the Sox fits. Maybe the rest of the Sox, but not Tank. I was questioning your one hit shutout prediction, Tank would get a couple hits and drive in a run, maybe a homer.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) With the amount of money still on his contract, I'd be very surprised. Maybe the Red Sox would be willing to take on that contract?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Oblique pull Hmmm, I thought it was back stiffness?
