  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Buehrle will throw something like a one hit shutout against the Sox. He is the exact pitcher they can't hit. No way. Tank would destroy Buehrle.
  2. I just finished the Dream Team book. Lots of cool personal ancedotes about the players and it was entertaining to read about their interacting with each other and constant s***-talking.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 10:39 AM) Mariners have Beavan listed as their Saturday starter, and Millwood pitched pretty good last night, so I would assume the Sox will miss Felix this weekend. Vargas vs Peavy Beavan vs Quintana Millwood vs Floyd If they get past Vargas on Friday, hopefully this is a sweep. Mariners have been very good lately. Yeah there is absolutely no reason for them to skip a starter for Felix on Sunday, so we should be safe. The Mariners have been very good lately, but only at home. They have won 13 of their last 14 at Safeco. Only 3-6 in their last 9 road games.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) We don't usually start hearing about the next year's schedule until mid-September. Did MLB get the schedule done earlier this year or did a Guillen offspring's big fat mouth just leak information earlier than he was supposed to? It's probably the Red Sox playing Miami, but the Guillens are too self-centered to realize there is a second Sox team in MLB.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 12:54 AM) It seems when people create threads like this (good or bad) the opposite always happens. Lets hope this happens with Beckham. Other than the one homer in Toronto, Rios has been in a major slump for the past 8 games. Someone needs to start a "Rios having a rough mid-August" thread.
  6. Is Joe Girardi always so La Russa-like with his bullpen? 4 different pitchers to face 4 straight batters in the 5th inning? That's ridiculous.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:33 AM) Boo De Aza injury. Yup. he has been so solid all year from that leadoff spot. Even when he had the occasional slump, it seemed like he would break out of it as soon as it was brought up. Hopefully the two weeks off gets him healthy, and D-Weezy can keep up his red-hot redemption tour right now.
  8. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:06 AM) So where's the love for Robin's move to keep Floyd on a very tight leash and get him out of there? I'm not scanning the game thread, but I really see Floyd leaving the game as our big turning point. In today's Tribune recap, Robin is praised in the very first paragraph for pulling Floyd so early and keeping the game within reach.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:35 AM) Can you PLEASE enlighten me why you would boo the manager of our only WS title team in a zillion years (provided we don't win it this year)? You don't think the nation would think Sox fans are ungrateful animals? I doubt the rest of the nation would even notice or care.
  10. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) I'm so glad we didn't get Dempster. I know. He wouldn't have been able to pitch in that whole 4-game series in Toronto.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) Should be quite the battle for Gavin against all those lefties. His last start against them was terrible. Well, hopefully Veal and Thornton are good tonight. Gavin's career numbers vs. the Yankees are pretty ugly overall. Especially against Chavez & Ibanez.

  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) either chicago or miami. Are you sure about that? Maybe they will be playing in Havana in front of Ozzie's best friend?
  14. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Ozzie Jr tweeted that the Marlins will face the Sox, on May 24th-26th. Where?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) Stone suggested De Aza might play today on air last night...looks like that didn't happen. If his back doesn't get better in the next few days, we may be looking at a DL stint I think.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) Good call. Look at that 2010 season at Age 26. In that age 26 season in 2010, Alex Gordon played 75 games in the minor leagues. The Sox have yet to try that with Beckham.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) Ramirez' OPS is about the same as Beckham's. Still waiting for a non Marty34 Ramirez must go because he simply cannot hit post. Boers & Bernstein just spent a good chunk of time discussing how much both Beckham & Ramirez have royally sucked this year. Alexei has 6 homers. His career low is 15.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) Player B also has 787 more AB's and is 3 years older. So yeah, Gordon is a big time bust. Hosmer? Not yet... Exactly. This is Gordon's third straight season of crap. This is Hosmer's 2nd overall season, 1st bad one.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) He will be fine Out of curiosity, what do you consider "fine"? This is his 4th straight season of offensive decline. Even if he returned to his 2010 form, that's still a below average hitter.
  20. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Anyone else feel like 100% more confident in the Sox ability to beat the Yankees than the Royals right now? Absolutely. Sox win 2 of 3 vs. NYY, book it. (It helps that they miss CC & Kuroda, ARod is out, and Tex is banged up)
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Top Prospect Alert ‏@MinorLeagueBlog Roger Clemens is apparently back in baseball and will be the starting pitcher for the independent Sugar Land Skeeters on Saturday. Sugar Land Skeeters? Is that a baseball team or a porn ensemble?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) That wouldn't shock me at all. Personally I think the ending will come from the people closest to him. Either Skylar turns him in, Jesse kills him, or Hank busts him. I can't decide which one of the three is the most likely. I agree that it will be someone close, most likely family. But I don't see Walt ending up in prison, I think he will go out shooting. How awesome was the dinner scene last night? "Good work shopping then, these green beans are choice!"
  23. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) Hawks tickets went on sale today 8/20 at 10:00 a.m. The cheapest seat is $54!
