  1. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) 3 days ago, the Sox "would be lucky to split this series." 2 days ago, Wise was "worthless." Funny how 3 straight wins in Toronto can change that. Welcome to the standard SoxTalk gamethread. The "worthless" talk will begin again as soon as the wheels touch down in KC.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan Encarnacion scratched from Jays lineup. That helps, and it doesn't appear to be serious, so he can be healthy next week in Detroit. Also, Brett Lawrie is on schedule to come back next Tuesday vs. los Tigres.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) And then this weekend, the Sox play KC with their 3 top pitchers going, and with PK14 back in the lineup... while DET plays a pretty hot Baltimore team. Very nice opportunity here for the Sox to put a little more distance between them and DET. Anything can happen, but the pitching matchups are definitely in DET's favor this weekend too. Hunter vs Verlander TBA vs Porcello Chen vs. Cy Fister (Chen has been their pitcher this year though, 3.70 ERA)
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) When was the last time we won a 4 game series in Toronto? It'll be so awesome to get one of those. It would make the inevitable series loss to KC easier to swallow. Is that you greg?
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) She's not being charged with statutory rape, she's being charged with other crimes because she was in a position of authority. Like I said, that's bogus.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Sametime as the last time we won 2 in a row (really it was 3) up there. 2006 I believe. Yup. The 2nd series up there in 2006. Here is the ugly recap of Sox games north of the border: 5/06: 1-2 8/06: 2-1 6/07: 1-3 5/08: 0-4 (1-7 overall) 5/09: 0-4 (1-6 overall) 4/10: 2-2 5/11: 1-3 8/12: 3-1
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) HBP? Or a play in the field? I just didn't even hear anything about it. Fouled a pitch off his foot
  8. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 11:55 AM) I agree with you, fans acting like douche bags is unneccesary, I'm just saying that overall Mexicans fans are hardly close to being the worst. US crowds are among the best, you hardly hear of any violence in sports stadiums (Philly fans and Raiders/Lakers fans being the exception ). Don't forget about Dodgers fans in that group. It does put into perspective how tame US sporting events are. Which turns out to be a very good thing in the long run.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) Cooper is so damn grumpy. His morning interviews with M+H suck hard I don't know if anybody will ever look at him as a manager, but he really needs to work on his communication with the media if he would like a managing job in the future.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) This would make jury duty more interesting: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/08/15/texas...test=latestnews All the students were 18, but she is still getting charged with a crime? That's bogus.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) You guys think the Mexican fans are bad? Have you seen what happens in European and South American soccer stadiums? Congrats on the win. In Europe, matches are then abandoned & teams are forced to play without a home crowd. Not that CONCACAF would have the balls to do something like that.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Expecting a loss of games? Yeah, that seems to be the prevailing opinion at the moment, but they still have time to work it out. So Donald Fehr led the 1994 MLB strike. The two biggest fanbases in hockey are in Toronto & Montreal. In 1994, the Blue Jays were two-time defending WS champs and the Expos were the best team in baseball, but due to the strike never made the playoffs & moved to Washington. He's probably not liked too much up there.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:38 AM) So is this sport going to lock itself out again? Probably. The players union now has Donald Fehr as their head, and his history shows that he doesn't mess around.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) Holdover He was given a 4-year extension just before Sir Theo was hired.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:09 AM) Looks like we'll be facing FISTER, SCHERZER and SANCHEZ in Detroit (dodge the V bullet). On pace to be FLOYD, LIRIANO, SALE for us. I wouldn't get too excited about that just yet. They have off days each of the next two Mondays, which would make it easy to move the rotation around. They already are skipping Sanchez this Sunday to let Fister pitch again on normal 4-day rest. They could pull a similar move at the end of the month.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) 5-spot given up in the 2nd inning. 3 of the last 4 years he had been awful. I don't think a name change will suddenly make him a good pitcher.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:18 AM) ESPN was showing the laser pointers all over Howards chest as the "fans" were trying to shine it in his eyes during a free kick. Classy. In the end the US wins. Good job. You sound surprised. This is a stadium where the fans routinely throw piss on the opposing players. I know it was just a friendly in a half-empty stadium, but that was still an awesome win. Hopefully it leads to them winning a WCQ down there sometime in the near future.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) Great managing Take out the lefty, bring in the righty to face Dunn. Genius. Dunn likey Canadia.
  19. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) Anybody else interested to see how Hernandez aka Carmona looks tonight for the Tribe? He has been god awful for 3 of the last 4 seasons. Why would a name change make him any better?
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) Ozzie Smith was not a better SS than Omar and played virtually in the same era. And I've never heard anyone say Omar doesn't belong in the hall. I've heard it discussed on the radio plenty of times and a quick google search displays numerous articles discussing his validity.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) Fans yelling at Rios These empty crowds make the fans that much more audible, it has been entertaining all series.
