  1. Recently, the Bears institued a Pay-As-We-Play process, where you give them your credit card #, but you aren't charged for the tickets until it's official that a home playoff game will happen. If the playoffs don't happen, then you aren't charged. (other than a small handling fee) Do the Sox offer an option like that or do you have to give them all the money now?
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) Wait until you start getting hungover for real, being able to spend a night in with someone you care about seems way more awesome than it did a few years ago. What's also awesome is when you are hungover for real, and that special person you care about brings you Gatorade when you can't get out of bed. True love right there.
  3. Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs #Bears MLB Brian Urlacher had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee this morning. Chicago Tribune story coming in moments. Urlacher is already back at training camp and the goal is still for him to be ready for Sept. 9 season opener.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) @BradBiggs Brian Urlacher said in interview on Fox-32 he believes his knee will be an issue all season & doubts he will play in preseason. “I don’t see it getting any better during the season. We’re going to have to manage my reps in practice and then just get through Sundays. There is a fine line between pushing it and easing into it, which is what I need to do. I just gotta get back for Sept. 9. Even if I just practice the week before, I’ll be in good enough shape to make it through those games.” The secrecy about his knee makes it seem all that much troubling. Interesting talk on the Score this morning, that maybe he shouldn't play vs. the Colts, since they have a quick 4-day turnaround before they play GB. After that game, he would have about 10 more days to rest. I don't think it's a bad idea, if the Bears can't beat Indy without him, then they are probably f***ed this year anyway.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) Without another big spending splurge, can you convince me that team has any real shot at being better next year than it was this year? A healthy Giancarlo & a half-competent pitcher in the closer's role would be a big improvement.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 07:26 AM) The Astros would probably settle for a 2 game streak at this point They actually won two in a row vs. Milwaukee this past weekend. However, that was preceded by a stretch of 4-34 baseball. Yowza.
  7. If Volstad wants to avoid becoming the next Anthony Young, tonight's the best chance he will get for a W with the Stros in town. Our old friend Lucas Harrel stands in his way.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 11:42 PM) No team in baseball needs a 4-5 game winning streak more than the Sox (well except Detroit, but as previously established f*** Them) The Houston Astros disagree
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Twins have a pretty solid offense, especially against righties (which that's all Detroit has) And they have figured out how to score runs at home. Willingham has been a beast, at 29 homers already.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) I think you seriously underestimate how few quality left-handed relievers there are in baseball. Not saying he's going to make it, but guys with Septimo's stuff aren't a dime a dozen. There's a reason he's been a multi-year project for the organization. There's a reason why guys like Ohman, Oliver, Fuentes, Romero all hang around til nearly age 40.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) Tigers just lost. 8-1 Twins. 5-5 vs. the Twins on the year. Sox are 9-3 against MIN, but of course they are the only ones who lose to bad teams.
  12. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) You need to gain. Staying put isn't gonna be enough. You have to beat the Torontos and KC's. Or the Minnesotas, which the Sox have done & Detroit hasn't
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) With Encarnacion being their main threat that you have to game plan for, why did Ventura pull Crain (who's just about the best pitcher in baseball against righties)? Just like with Coco Crisp from Saturday, Ventura made Kelly Johnson the center of his managing strategy that inning. Just brutal by Ventura. Once you get to the 11th, you shouldn't start going rightly/lefty/righty. Had the game continued they were gonna run out of pitchers.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) Nate Jones is awful. He's no Leyson Septimo
  15. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) Boom They lost in extra innings, what a prediction
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) Peavy gonna do just enough to lose again? Can't really blame him for giving up 2 runs in 7 innings, but both of those runs were Peavy beating himself.
  17. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 07:09 PM) Broadcasts with Wimpy are 1000x more fun than the regular ones. Just more energy and better. I agree. I can't stand Hawk anymore, but he is much more tolerable with Wimpy in the booth.
  18. Is that guy the love child of Moises Alou & Rueben Sierra?
  19. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 04:12 PM) Since there's now only less than 8 months until the Championship game, might as well have fun with some bracketology. Thanks again Bruce Weber.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) More insane: How far that ball traveled or Wimpy's laugh? Or that Hawk wasn't sure if it would leave the park?
  21. That almost hit the scoreboard high up in CF!
