  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) I think in order to be considered the "Greatest of all time" there should be a bigger separation between you and your competition. First off Johnson not only won, but he demolished the world record by a huge margin. That was also reflected in his margin of victory being so much larger. Just comparing times is an exercise in futility, because that just means it is the current record holder. Guys keep getting bigger, stronger, and faster. I don't see that as being the only determining factor, otherwise a sports history is meaningless. But the competition isn't always equal. If Yohan Blake ran in 1996, Johnson's margin of victory may have been shorter. And Bolt's margin of victory over 3rd place was larger than Johnson's.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) @FletcherKTBS Our source: Tyrann Mathieu has been kicked off team. Privacy laws may prohibit Miles from disclosing reason for dismissal Do you think the Honey Badger gives a s*** now?
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) @FletcherKTBS Our source: Tyrann Mathieu has been kicked off team. Privacy laws may prohibit Miles from disclosing reason for dismissal You really have to do something bad to get kicked off of LSU, especially as a Hesiman finalist.
  4. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) Yowza!! Come to Bama Honey Badger! Dee Milliner and Honey Badger *drools*. if he goes to USC then... If he went to another D-1 school, he would have to sit out a year. If anything, he will go to a D-1AA or FCS or whatever its called school.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 11:43 AM) No one was as good as Blake because Johnson was that far ahead of the rest of the world. He broke the world record by 0.4 second, which is insane in the 200 meters. The guy who won the Silver had a time that was better than the previous world record and still lost by .36 seconds. 4 guys went under 20 seconds yesterday, with a 5th right at it. Like I said earlier, I wish Bolt would have finished the race at full speed to see how fast he could have won by, his margin of victory may have been similar.
  6. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) Celtic drew Helsingborgs, of Sweden, for the next Champions League qualifier. Two of Henrik Larsson's clubs to do battle - hopefully we can emerge victorious. Helsingborg, huh? I have close family living there, so I have to root for them!
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) http://www.ravinia.org/ParkNRide.aspx We parked in downtown Highland Park (sorry I can't remember exactly where, it was a couple years ago). It wasn't too inconvenient and saved a lot of time getting out at the end I presume. Edit: As long as you aren't hauling 9,000 pounds of crap, the bus ride was pretty easy. We didn't have too much excess stuff. Cool, that's what I was thinking about doing. I just wanted to confirm it was convenient like Ravinia claims it is. Thanks.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) Yeah 2nd was .36 behind, versus .12 yesterday. Was anybody in '96 as good as Yohan Blake? Maybe Johnson's victory margin had more to do with the lack of good competition?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) You still have guys like Danks and Tyler Flowers. You don't want to DH Flowers if you don't have too. Just in case AJ gets hurt or more likely, gets ejected for talking s***.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 10:55 AM) Still. He was never as far ahead of the field as Johnson was in 1996. He just destroyed the field. He has been beaten. One guy was closer, maybe Johnson didn't have any competition as good as Blake? The 3rd place finisher in '96 had a better time than 3rd place this year. Both Johnson & Bolt finished with the exact same time.
  11. Anybody here ever driven to Ravinia? Got any parking advice? I don't mind paying for the $20 lot, but it seems like it could get full quickly and be a clusterf*** to get out of. Are the shuttles from the free lots fast or convenient?
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 06:53 PM) A Chicago Cubs World Series celebration/parade would dwarf anything 2005 White Sox. The national coverage would be too much for me. I couldn't take it. I concur. I always thought that 2005 would make me care less about the Cubs winning it all, since the Sox broke their streak first. But then I think about how ridiculous the celebration and out of control the coverage would be, then I say f*** that.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:57 AM) Isn't "Holding the world record" the basic standard for GOAT? That's why I wish Bolt wouldn't give up at the end of races. I would like to see him run the fastest time possible.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:25 AM) that picture makes me want to cheer the athletics. not cool Go Athletics!
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) The Cabrera/Prince hand shakes are annoying and bush. That doesn't even include the shaking and the dancing that their closer does.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) It just feels dirty rooting for the Yankees. They honestly don't bother me as much anymore. I think all my hatred has been bestowed upon the Red Sox, that I kinda let the Yankees slide.
  17. Back-to-back homers for Chavez & Tex off of Benoit. 4-3 yankees!
  18. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) I see Cam being in the top 3 of Qb's this season Maybe in fantasy football points...
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Don't hold me to this, but the Sox may miss both Sabathia and Kuroda. Barring any rainouts, if they stick to a 5-man rotation, you are right. CC & Kuroda would pitch vs Boston the Saturday & Sunday before they come to Chicago.
  20. Raul Ibanez triples to score Eric Chavez, then Ichiro knocks him in with a single, 2-0 Yankees. Age ain't nothing but a number.
  21. Howard to the Lakers rumors getting thrown around again...
  22. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) I see Cam Newton having a great day against the Bears older D. Does Jay Cutler not get to take the field against the Panthers younger D?
  23. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) I was curious because I was also at that game. Sweet. It was a fun time. The whole 12th Man leads to a solid homefield advantage, but some of those fans take way over the top. I did get very drunk at Fuel after the game which was solid.
