  1. Danks will make 31 starts in 2013 and finish with a 3.84 ERA. You heard it here first.
  2. Steve finally gets to start a game thread. I sense a big winning streak has begun.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) The crazy thing is Bolt was awful out of the blocks. If he gets out quickly, he smashes his world record. Watching him close the race when he was at top speed is just amazing. It seems like he does that in every race. He may not be the best starter, but once he hits top speed, it's all over.
  4. The men's basketball almost lost to Lithuania over the weekend? Let's hear again about how they are better than the Dream Team, lol. On a side note, I finished a third of the Dream Team book, enjoying it, lots of call facts/insight I had never known about the players & team.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) This just made me sad. It made me sad typing it. The good news is that I'm an idiot, so there is no way my prediction comes true.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) I have a feeling people are going to be leaving the league early being happy that their brain is intact in higher numbers as time goes on. Yup. He said he suffered a bad neck stinger late last year, which kind of worried him. Good for him. As a result, Rashied Davis has signed with the Bears.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) No Sale? Injured for most, if not all of 2013. I hope I'm wrong, but I just see an injury coming.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7873/g...x3fw1KZ7tCFCLcF It's crazy that he has had two good starts since the end of May: @ Fenway and @ Arlington, arguably the two hardest places to pitch in MLB
  9. Danks, Floyd, RH Free Agent TBD, Quintana, Santiago
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) US Basketball is playing well. 29/46 from behind the arc Carmelo: 37 pts, 10/12 for 3 in 14:29 minutes played
  11. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) u posted this in the game thread yesterday. where are u getting that number from? hes had 3 starts where hes givin up 5+ runs LOL, not only that but he has only started 21 games this year, not 22. From my count he is 16/21 in QS
  12. QUOTE (OilCan @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) Only thing is on Myers, when was the last time he started a game? Physically can he handle the rigors of the AL as a full time starter? And would he hamper the bullpen if Coop/Ventura do switch him as a starter? IMHO he's fine where he is in the pen. 2011 - 33 starts, 216 IP 2010 - 33 starts, 223.2 IP I think his arm can handle starting the whole year and he would be a help to the bullpen. He has 6 other seasons with 30+starts. How his 4.21 career ERA in the NL would translate to the AL is the question.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) Shouldn't they get the same punishment as the Chinese, South Korean and Indonesian badminton womens' doubles teams?? They looked into the Japanese soccer team's match but decided not to punish them. I think there was one big difference. The soccer team may not have been trying to win, but they weren't kicking the ball in their own net to purposely lose, they still managed a tie, which is common in soccer. The badminton teams were purposely losing, hitting into the net, out of bounds, etc. That was the difference between the two in their minds, and the reason they let the soccer team off.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) I'd say losing in crushing fashion to the Red Sox, getting swept by the Tigers and losing five games in the standings to them in one week. That was a pretty big test. Many weren't sure (myself included) how they were going to respond to that, especially with the Rangers and hated Twins looming...along with our tendency to beat ourselves against Minnesota. Any road stretch of 16/19 games against the competition we faced is huge test of any manager. And he's had to deal with that inexperienced bullpen for 2/3rd's of the season b4 picking up Myers and getting Crain off the DL. Responding after getting swept by your division rival is huge, although if he didn't start a 9th inning with Thornton, then maybe the Red Sox series ends differently. Managing a young bullpen, but a few of his decisions in that regard that didn't work out were kind of obvious from the get go.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) If that was automatic, there would have been zero negative posts. That's a good point. Bobby Valentine stepped into a madhouse in Boston and somehow made it worse.
  16. Could anybody afford to claim that whole contract? Maybe the Dodgers? I don't think the Yankees can right now.
  17. I feel like everyone is giving Robin too much of the benefit of the doubt already in this thread. His team responded to him and done well so far, but in no way am I ready to call him a great manager. He still makes plenty of WTF decisions. This team went through a carnival the last two years, so just have a quiet calming presence in the dugout would lead to a turnaround in performance. This team also hasn't faced major adversity yet, so he hasn't had to deal with that. I'm not trying to hate on Robin, and I think he could be a good one over time. But I don't think that four months proves that everyone's original opinion was 100% wrong.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) White Sox released INF Dallas McPherson. McPherson was batting .253/.335/.463 with 12 home runs and 47 RBI in 61 games at Triple-A Charlotte. The 32-year-old will try to latch on with a new organization. Per Rotoworld He is 32 already? Wow.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) I only watch sporting events on ESPN, no talking heads. Same here. As long as ESPN has all of those live sporting events, they can do whatever they want with their other programming, because the live events pay the bills.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:26 PM) Cleveland drove off a cliff going 100 mph Somebody find their van and get them back on the road ASAP. We need 3 wins out of them this weekend.
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 09:08 AM) Nothing. I just thought it was cool. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) The best vault in the world. The push off she gets off the vault is ridiculous and then she sticks the toughest vault around. Gotcha, it was a pretty impressive vault. I think my mind has been programmed over time to expect something comical every time someone posts a .gif, lol.
  22. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) My ideal offseason: Let Floyd walk, Let Peavy walk. Re-sign Liriano to a 2 year deal w/ a 3rd year option. Trade Quintana, Reed and prospects for King Felix. What prospects? I think Seattle is way more interested in hitters than pitching.
