  1. With half of India out of power, does that mean half the help desks in America are currently out of service?
  2. I was at Wrigley last night, totally didn't realize what was going on. I thought they were just getting subbed out because of the blowout, but then again I was on about beer #10. Malholm sure upped his trade value with a 1.00 ERA in his past 7 starts. Good deal for the Cubs. Vizcaino was an "untouchable" prospect before Tommy John, and the success rate of the surgery has been pretty high recently. That being said, he is going to the Cubs, his arm will probably fall off again next summer.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) Chris Carter has two more doubles tonight, off David Price. 8 HR, 17 RBI's in just 61 AB's. .279 Fire KW
  4. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) Are we 100% sure that Dempster wouldn't be coming here. He could just be saying the 'politically correct' thing to say while being a northslider. And if Dempster isn't happy with northslider management, then maybe he would be more inclined to come here. Could always make a three team trade if that would work better. If the little bears are looking for something that we don't have right now. Northsliders? I chuckled.
  5. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Well... not really comparable. The Tribe said they were interested in re-signing Thome. (Not sure how serious... But that is part of the equation) Thome proclaimed during the negotiation process that it wasn't about the money... That he loved playing in Cleveland and that "they'd have to tear the jersey off my back" to get him to leave. Then he left because Philly offered him one year more guaranteed on his contract. So... it was about the money. And fans saw him as a liar and hypocrit. He would have been better off if he never opened his mouth. Mark echoed similar senitments during his time in Chicago and also ended up chasing the money, slightly hypocritical as well.
  6. I wonder if that means Santiago will be stretched out to be a starter down in AAA. Leyson Septimo, your table is ready.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) Thought Liriano would pitch today. So when does Liriano debut? Wednesday? tomorrow
  8. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) & now there are reports that the Phillies are interested in Choo.... Are they confused in Philly? Haha Choo would be under their control in 2013. With their contracts & pitching, they are going for it next year.
  9. I don't think the Sox have the talent to trade for him (other than Viciedo). The Phillies don't have to trade him, but are looking into if they can get some solid players.
  10. Every Olympic sport seems to have stupid qualifying rules. In the men's 400 IM, there was a swimmer from Qatar who finished with a time of 5:21. The 2nd slowest finished ended up at 4:35. How is a guy like that allowed into the Olympics? They are lucky he didn't drown during the race.
  11. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) No, the rule is that each country can be represented twice AT MOST, not that each country must be represented twice. Oops. For some reason, I thought it was 12 countries qualified and each country gets two gymnasts into the finals. I see the difference, but it's still a format that allows for lesser teams to qualify based on their affiliation.
  12. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:16 AM) The comparison works. The NCAA Tourney has at least the top 40 teams because of all the at-large bids. You'd never see the #4 ranked AP team kept out of the tournament because #2 and #3 were in the same conference. No one really cares if a 18-12 major conference team gets displaced by an inferior mid-major who grabbed an auto-bid because that 18-12 team is mediocre and has virtually no chance of winning. Weiber would have been a favorite. The at-large bids prevent the top teams from missing the tourney, but it's still a similar concept. In one "sport", each country must be represented twice, so it's not the 24 best overall gymnasts. In b-ball, every conference must be represented once, so it's not the 68 best basketball teams. The exclusions are lower down on the totem pole, but they are still there.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:20 AM) lol Dusty will get his man again. And will probably start him every day, even against LHP
  14. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:59 AM) The Americans were only allowed to send a team of 5 to the Olympics. Even if all 5 were monsters, that's only 5/24 slots. There's plenty of remaining room. Just doesn't make sense to knock out a #4 seed in favor of a #25 seed. Did you see Bob Costas discussing it with Bela Karolyi(sp)? He made the awful mistake of comparing it to the NCAA tournament not allowing the 3rd place ACC/B1G team in to let a weaker team in. Um Bob, the tourney is not the best 68 teams. Several lower teams make it, simply because of their conference affiliation.
  15. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Ridiculous that Weiber, who finished 4th in qualifiers, doesn't make the 24-person All-Around competition because two other Americans were ahead of her. That TV coverage was just absolutely brutal, the way the camera just followed her around the entire arena.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:28 AM) That, and KC often seems to enjoy playing spoilers towards the end of the year. In 2005, the Indians were unbeatable, yet lost 3 straight to the lowly Royals & Rays. Saturday's game, Humber vs. Harrison, was a guaranteed L for the Sox, right? Detroit should do well in that last stretch of the season, but let's not just hand them an 11-2 record already, it's baseball, s*** happens.
  17. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) Laurence Holmes ‏@LaurenceWHolmes I have no specifics, but I'm told #Whitesox are "a little busy" trying to get some stuff done before trade deadline. don't be surprised. That's downright A+ reporting Laurence.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 06:40 AM) World and European champion Spain is already eliminated from the soccer tournament after losing their first two games. Men's Olympic soccer is under-23 teams, with 3 older exceptions. Spain losing to Honduras is a huge upset, but it's not the World/Euro champion team, it's mostly different players. The tourney format sucks too. Asia & Africa have the same amount of teams as Europe, and twice as many as South America. That just leads to crappy soccer.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) How does Cincy win 10 in a row, WITHOUT Joey Votto? They did just face the two worst teams in all of baseball and Milwaukee is in a tailspin as their entire bullpen refuses to hold a lead.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) Oh god...women's basketball. Women's handball is kinda awesome
  21. Are they really not televising the swimming finals live today? It's f***ing Saturday, more people would watch now during primetime anyway. (I am aware I can watch it online, but would much preferable)
  22. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) Any update on DeAza is he in the line up today? Last night they said it was a sprained wrist and that he would miss at least one start, but it wasn't serious. Judging from that, I'd assume he is out today, and 50/50 to come back tomorrow.
