  1. In 9 innings vs the AL West this season, Philip Gregory Humber has to yet to give up a single base runner.
  2. Ken Rosenthal‏@Ken_Rosenthal BREAKING: #Angels close to acquiring Zack Greinke from #Brewers, sources tell me and @jonmorosi.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) What about Beckham and Lexi for Buehrle and Bonificio (sp)? Would the Marlins go for it? Would the Sox go for it? I sure as hell wouldn't
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) Wait, what? #TeamOutlaw
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) Especially when you have Peavy go 120 pitches in a game where the Sox had a big lead (why, I don't know). in a day game where the temp was in the upper 90s
  6. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) what a pitchers duel at wrigley lol The "Travis Wood is the real deal" crowd sure has quieted. ERA nearing 5.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) Among the options offered, anyone voting anything but the Cardinals is completely nuts. I concur, that was my vote.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) This is funny no matter what you think of the summer olympics. http://deadspin.com/5928972/the-haters-gui...summer-olympics I'm still cracking up about this:
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) From this point forward, if people are going to discuss Olympic events, please use spoiler tags if the event has NOT yet aired in the US. Thanks all! You might want to avoid Twitter during the day then...
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) Many owners are. Bud Selig promised that the Brewers would be winners if they got a new stadium. They are good at fleecing the community into using tax payer dollars to build stadiums. Owners don't build them because they know they are bad investments. I get your point, but at least the Brewers consistenly spend money and try to win.
  11. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) SportsCenter ‏@SportsCenter Bud Selig says on "The Mike Lupica Show" he will expand instant replay to include trapped balls in the outfield & balls hit down the line. Could be a Diamond Club thread but I figured it was relevant enough for PHT. Good. That's one less thing that Hawk can b**** & moan about it.
  12. An MRI showed that Garza still has fluid in his triceps, won't pitch til after deadline. There goes his trade value.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:14 AM) Bah. Series change. f*** DETROIT. How's that? I like it! Since they are up playing the Jays now, let me add: OOOOOOHH CANADA!!!!
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) Thank god it is game day! Now lets keep this thread going, and (ugh) Go Tribe! Are you worried about the Twins??
  15. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) yea joel sherman wrote that: One executive wondered if the Cubs might offer Dempster $1MM to go to Atlanta if the Braves are willing to surrender considerably more than the Dodgers, Joel Sherman of the New York Post writes (Twitter links). Someone like Randall Delgado might be worth enough to make up for the one-time cost of $1MM. I just don't see how that could be legal, it could set a dangerous precedent.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) I'm not sure why...I saw this idea floated in a story somewhere, that leaving Delgado on the table would result in Epstein and Hoyer doing something creative with Ricketts' money to force that deal through and avoid them having egg on their faces. Gotcha. I just don't see how money helps, since Dempster gets paid the same no matter what and he doesn't care where it comes from. He just wants to be in a Dodgers or Cubs uniform come August 1st.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) Step one. Don't deal with asshole GMs. Step two. Instead of making two separate trades, make it one 3-team trade so the asshole GMs don't get the opportunity to screw you over.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) There's the theory that the Cubs and Braves will revisit that trade and that the Cubs will throw in $1-2-3 million as a bribe to get Dempster to leave for the Braves so they can get Delgado. He's in a precarious place though...if he really wanted to come back to Chicago after a trade, this is not the way to go about doing it. That's not allowed, is it? You can't just offer players bonuses in the middle of the season, can you? Once you have a contract negotiated, that's it.
