QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) On average a kid age 3 or under accidentally shoots someone at least once a week in this country, more than half the time themselves. So imagine it. That's how responsible we are. Jeebus, man, that is a disgusting irrelevant analogy.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) Packers are officially done with Marty Bennett’s s***, and have cut him Something about failing to disclose a medical condition, they may go after all the money they already paid him

Lopez/Giolito could throw 200 IP next season
LittleHurt05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) Lopez in 2017: 168.2 innings Giolito in 2017: 174 innings So yeah that seems reasonable. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) I kinda hope we try and develop starters that eat innings. Agreed and agreed. If you want to win the WS in 2020, you are likely gonna need multiple pitchers going 200 IP. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Donald Trump Jr. is taking to twitter to urge Republicans to VOTE GILLESPIE! in VA tomorrow The election is today. I wonder if he thinks 11/8 is always election day? I really really don't like that guy. The few things I have seen retweeted from him are way worse than anything from his dad.

I really hope those kids weren't that stupid. Three African-Americans, all 6'6" and taller in a high end Louis Vutton store in China? I have to imagine every eye on the store was squarely on them.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) So do you not get a plan through a company, you get it directly from the insurance provider? Exactly. I own a small business with no need for a group plan. My wife works for a small business, that's an agency for a large insurance company, but she's an employee of the agency, not the insurance company Before the ACA, the large corporation would offer insurance coverage to the employees of the small agency, but that was taken away once the ACA hit. While you can put some blame on corporate greed, anybody could have realized this would happen when the law was passed.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 07:31 AM) RIP Roy, if he pitched in NY or BOS he would have been a straight legend. Seems like a disproportionate amount of celebrities die in plane crashes, or maybe they are just more memorable. I think celebrities are just way more likely to fly small planes, which crash more often. Halladay was flying in the first 2018 model of this Icon plane, I wonder what happened with such a new model.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 07:16 AM) It’s really assault weapons & high capacity clips that are the problem. No one needs these unless they’re part of our Armed Forces, are part of a SWAT-like team, or plan on killing a lot of people in a short period of time. Sure, there are plenty of people out there that think owning an assault rifle is badass or have convinced themselves they are defenseless at home without one, but the reality these where never intended for practical civilian use. There’s absolutely no reason NOT to ban assault weapons & high capacity magazines. Shotguns, handguns, & hunting rifles should be more than enough for sport & safety. I read that the military doesn't really use the high capacity clips either. In most of their situations, they are way more concerned with accuracy, so shooting so many clips a second doesn't help much. Like you said, they really are only useful in killing a lot of people in a short period of time, and that's not even needed in the military very often anymore.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) This is big because Dems now have influence over 2020 redistricting in VA. You misspelled gerrymandering.

QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Unless they speak Spanish, then we don't help them. Cause there are zero Spanish speaking citizens in Texas, that's they only reason they were given hurricane assisstance.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) You'd think if he was ok, he'd tweet or something? Doesn't look good. Yeah, unless he's quiet out of respect for the person who did die until it's announced?

White Sox unlikely to chase big free agents

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Also, for those whining about the JR being cheap. See a 19 year old kid named Luis Robert whom the Sox just invested a total of 52M in. The highest contract in White Sox history was $68 million for Jose Abreu. Only 3 MLB teams have not signed a larger contract than that. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Interesting post. He has a lot of listeners and stations and advertisers. He has some clout. Not like I'm listening to some guy on youtube with 10,000 listeners. What's wrong with listening to different takes on radio when driving? I continue to be amazed at the cliche-ness of our country. If there's a hurricane we risk our lives to save people and keep on helping helping helping. When there's a mass shooting we take sides and help nobody, just offend the families of the victims. We look for no solutions. Show no compassion. I don't get it. Everyone just sits back and waits for the identity of the shooter. Half of the country hopes its a straight white male, the other half hopes it's a Muslim. Then I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) If the ACA didnt exist, what were your options? My options were many plans from several different carriers, it was a free market. Once the carriers were forced to follow all of the rules of the ACA, the basically said f*** the individual plan health care user. Almost every company just decided to stop offering those plans. And the ones that still do, extremely limit what networks and plans they provide to those people.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 5, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) The group that gave us the Panama papers has another trove of information out, this time it's being called the Paradise Papers. https://www.icij.org/investigations/paradise-papers/ It's always the most philanthropic celebrities that are also shady on the side. Bono wants everyone in the world to give more, but not a chance he pays his fair share of taxes

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 12:45 AM) I was driving in the car today and Rush had some good takes. He said twitter and all the leftists were blasting people who offered prayers for the victims. All the Bill Maher copiers were mocking Christians for offering mere prayer to what they deem is a waste of space as there is no God. Rush made a good point saying the leftist commentators never blast and mock people who are Islamic, etc. And all the other religions. Only Christians are fair game to be mocked. Don't blame the messenger. Rush brought it up. Secondly ... Rush said the left should be ashamed of itself for turning on Vin Scully. Scully was basically worshiped by the left and right alike for his excellent broadcasting work. However since he said he won't ever watch another NFL game because of the players kneeling during the anthem, he now has been turned on and attacked. Rush said the people criticizing Vin are misguided. Your first paragraph is so true and shows everything that's wrong with this country. When there is a mass shooting, one side of the country can't jump on their pedestal quick enough and gloat about their stances on guns. But when an Islamic terrorist attack occurs, they are quiet and the other side of the country can't stop screaming "close the borders!!". Everything gets so politicized, it really seems some people are happy when these events occur.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) He is one of those guys who has enough experience as a back-up (and there is little tape on him), that I could see him having a better than expected night. Of course I always liked Hundley coming out of UCLA (definitely raw as a passer, but really nice athlete). Completed 16 of 25 passes for 97 yards through 3 quarters. Check down king

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 5, 2017 -> 09:01 PM) Iowa +20 seemed like a ridiculously easy cover in that environment. Don't know what the spread is yet but knowing Kirk Ferentz, taking Wisconsin next week seems like just as easy of a cover. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) I'm somewhat excited for that game. Trubisky with a bye week...hopefully this doesn't turn into a big letdown. We will see if Hundley shows any improvement tonight after a bye week. He wasn't that good in his first start and the Bears D has been especially solid at home.

Worst Bowman move: Bickell contract, Seabrook extension or Connor Murphy trade?
