  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) Just for reference sake, Josh Hamilton is hitting .156 since the ASB, and .164 in July, after .223 in June (OPS's of .754/.569 respectively). He was in the third spot in the Texas line up. Ron Washington is a bad manager when it comes to baseball decisions.
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) Why not send down Septimo or Ommogrosso, or someone who didn't look really solid like Veal did? Ommogrosso already got sent down to make room from Crain. i agree about Septimo though. Seems like Robin is a fan of his I guess.
  3. Sports Illustrated ‏@SInow Mike McQueary was the quarterback for Joe Paterno's last official win. (h/t @joemoore10)
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) JeffRice247 ‏@JeffRice247 Paterno's win total drops from 409 to 308. He is officially 12th all-time. Sweet. I also thought that the whole vacating wins & championships thing was stupid, but in this situation I highly enjoy it.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) So where does the $60 million go to? The NCAA said the $60 million was equivalent to the average annual revenue of the football program. The NCAA ordered Penn State to pay the penalty funds into an endowment for "external programs preventing child sexual abuse or assisting victims and may not be used to fund such programs at the university."
  6. With PSU & OSU ineligible, Wisconsin has quite the cakewalk to get into the B1G championship game this season. Their only competition now is Purdue, Indiana & Illinois.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 08:11 AM) 60 million fine 4 year bowl/postseason ban Reduction from 25 to 15 scholarships per year for 4 years All wins vacated from 1998 to 20115 year probation period Somewhere down in Florida, Bobby Bowden is doing the happy dance.
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 04:51 AM) even if the sox make the post-season, they're one-and-done. detroit is hot right now. yankees or rangers will be in the world series IMO If a rotation of Carpenter, Garcia, Lohse, & EJax can win the World Series, I don't see how the Sox will be automatically one-and-done.
  9. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) Whats that make it now, 9 Lions players arrested? s*** man, the whole team is gonna be suspended. This'll make it easier on us. It would be nice if Calvin Johnson would get himself arrested too.
  10. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) TCQ sign 3/27mil extension with Padres. There goes a bat off the market Good for him. Also good that the Sox aren't paying him that much money.
  11. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) They are claiming they didn't know the connection. That's almost impossible. Actually I'm quite fascinated watching them try to cover their ass. I think that's why they are spelling it apologise, to emphasize that fact that the tweeter was not based in the US.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Little off topic, but does anyone know which White Sox player is a Verlander killer? Nobody AJP: 19/68, 3 HR, .760 OPS Konerko: 8/49, 2 HR, .581 OPS Alexei: 10/44, 1 HR, .579 OPS Rios: 7/28, .644 OPS Beckham: 5/25, 1 HR, .512 OPS Youk: 7/26, 2 HR, .769 OPS Dunn: 3/17, 2 HR, .706 OPS De Aza: 0/6 Viciedo: 0/6
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) Judging by the wink included in the tweet, I think they fully understood the connection. Gross, guess I am just naive. Sent them an angry tweet in response.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Get used to it. People are going to exploit this tragedy for fullest, whether it is money or politics. Hmmm, I didn't think it was purposeful exploitation. I just thought it was pure stupidity, someone didn't connect the word "Aurora" with the shootings.
  15. Someone has to get fired for this, tweeted this afternoon Celeb Boutique ‏@celebboutique #Aurora is trending, clearly about our Kim K inspired #Aurora dress Shop: http://celebboutique.com/aurora-white-plea...r-dress-en.html …
  16. 71 total people shot, but only 12 died. Could have been much worse.
  17. I enjoy the British Open, especially on courses like this. It's not just about driving it 350 yards. You have to hit the right shot, just the right distance. Each hole averages 11.4 bunkers, I think the 17 & 18 have around 20 each.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:10 AM) Bullpen...don't even want to think or talk about right now Reed over Valverde
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 10:02 AM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi BREAKING: Source tells http://FOXSports.com #Rockies close to sending Jeremy Guthrie to #Royals for Jonathan Sanchez. And you thought Jonathan Sanchez was bad before, wait til he pitches in Coors Field! Bad trade for the Sox, Guthrie is an alright pitcher if we have to face him this year vs KC
  20. Breaking News ‏@BreakingNews Colorado shooting suspect's apartment is 'booby trapped,' police chief says; working to disarm flammable or explosive material - More: Explosives appear 'very sophisticated' and police could be at scene 'for hours or days,' Aurora police chief says
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) Yea but Peavy was getting paid no matter what. If Dempster leaves the NL, and totally gets lit up in the AL, he is affecting his paycheck next season and beyond. Playing for the Sox would mean he gets to stay in Chicago near his family. And it sounds like he will be re-signing with the Cubs next year anyway for less money.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) That is how I feel exactly. But this guy has broken stuff before, so I figured it was worth posting. I saw a Toronto guy say that Snider was pulled from his AAA game flew to Boston last night, to potentially get called up to the big league club. Maybe if Lawrie needs to go on the DL.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) FARRELL BALL ‏@FarrellBall Source: Hearing Fister for Snider is quite the possibility. Jays feel they have a log jam in the OF #BlueJays may have to add a low minors pitcher like a McGuire or Wojciechowski to complete the trade. #FarrellBall That makes zero sense. That would make the Tigers worse in 2012.
  24. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:31 AM) Did Escobar fly with the team to Detroit? Is he still on the team? That throw was one of the most obvious choke jobs I have ever seen. I don't know the Spanish translation for "Please don't hit it to me, Senor" but that is what he was probably saying before the grounder. A double play changes everything, including the mind set of both teams. Of course, taking Q out for the 9th was a choke job on the Manager. He (Q) still hadn't walked anyone, his pitch count was low, and he had plenty of time to rest up during the top of the 9th. Plus, the bullpen has been shaky, at best. But Ventura has to do what other Managers do when they have a lights out closer. Take the guy out, so you don't have to think. This is another loss on Robin, and there have been several this year, although Escobar certainly helped. They should both stay off the team plane to Detroit. But he didn't even put the closer in, that's the biggest problem. (at least not to start the inning)
  25. Aspiring Sportscaster among the dead. Last month she was in the Toronto mall where a shooting happened, she walked out a few minutes before it began.
