  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:03 AM) Except the problem is that the Red Sox more than likely will be our chief competition for the Wild Card spot, should DET pass us by. There's a huge difference between 2 1/2 games, 4 1/2 and 6 1/2...at the very worst, we should have split with them. You have no idea what the wild card standings will look like in two months. You know that Detroit is your main competition for the division, the easiest way to make the playoffs. That series is way more important.
  2. Aspiring Sportscaster among the dead. Last month she was in the Toronto mall where a shooting happened, she walked out a few minutes before it began.
  3. Biggest series since 2008?? Or at least since those brutal Target Field series in 2010? Time for Peavy to stop talking the talk and start walking the walk. Detroit has all the momentum & the best pitcher in baseball on the mound. Time to be an ace JFP!
  4. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 06:04 AM) I haven't seen a loss like last night in a while. Robin has done a great job with this team, but he made some really bad decisions last night. First, why didn't Youkilis pinch hit for Escobar? Lefty-righty s*** be damned, Youk was the much better option there. And why oh why did Thornton start that inning? If he wanted a lefty to face Crawford, let Quintana pitch to him. I could hear the diasappointment in Hawk's voice from the beginning of the inning. He knew it was a bad decision, too. Oh well. I hope that loss doesn't start a downward spiral going into Detroit. 2 of 3 is almost a must this weekend. Defense. If Youk doesn't get a hit, you have a 1-0 game and Youk & his tight hamstring are at 3rd or Hudson is. Obviously, Escobar's defense sucked on that throw, but I believe that was Robin's thinking, which I don't necessarily disagree with. Escobar certainly did not execute though.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:44 PM) I'm surprised my 5 month old doesn't run around going crazy with storms. Not one issue. I guess it's just hit or miss? Hit or miss is right. My old lab doesn't even seem to notice the storms. My brother-in-law's lab absolutely freaks out for any thunder or fireworks. They got her the thundershirt and it helped some.
  6. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) what about greinke? he has one great year on his resume. 3.83 era last , 3.57 this year and in the n.l. hes good but i dont understand why people talk about him as if hes a true ace. hes not. and he apparently doesnt like too much pressure or pitching on the road: 2.56 at home, 4.46 road. last two years? 15-0 at home, 10-9 on the road, 4.55. ( i know you didnt mention him, just saying hes not great either) Other people have mentioned that too at times. His Cy Young year & his Miller Park starts are outstanding, but everything else in no way screams ace. He needs to be put more on Garza's level, instead of Hamels as everyone has been doing this past month.
  7. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Can't be worse than what we got though, right? It can be. The Brewers are one of 3 teams with more blown saves than the White Sox.
  8. I just looked at his splits this year, and they are very weird. Righties are only hitting .187 against him, but of the 14 hits, 5 are 2b, 6 are HRs, for a .781 OPS. (.187/.287/.493) Lefties are hitting .304, but only one HR of 17 hits, for a .775 OPS. (.304/.418/.357)
  9. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) Sign me up. K-Rod on the books for 8 million this year and the brewers aren't going anywhere, shouldn't cost THAT much. Look at his numbers, he has not been good at all. he only got the closers job because somehow Axford has been worse.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) It wouldn't shock me if Ventura decided to keep Escobar in the game for defensive reasons. Of course he did, that's exactly what I was thinking when it happened. Youkilis pinch hits, then its either him & his tight hamstring or Hudson at 3rd in what may still be a one run game. So you keep Escobar in there for his defense. Escobar didn't live up to his end of the deal.
  11. Gotta love Paulie going the other away to bust the slump. Great hustle Dunn!
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Enjoying the bahs too much. Was in the pahk last night. If you were in the park last night, then that's cool
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) Hi from one of the bahs next to Fenway! Go scalp a ticket, price drops by the 2nd inning
  14. AJ is just deadly with those take out slides, he wasn't even close to the base.
  15. bad feeling about our offense today. Keep em close Q.
  16. Peavy is flying to Detrot ahead of the team but is stuck in a several hour flight delay...
  17. QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Clay Bucholz is 8-3 with a 5.5 something era. lucky bastard. That's what happens when you pitch for the highest scoring team in baseball
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) So how long was it between the draft and those guys making it to the bigs. Sometimes I understand Kenny's philosophy. Unlike the NFL and NBA, it's hard for draft picks to make an immediate impact unless you trade them for a guy on a MLB roster. I believe Strasburg was one year, while Harper was closer to two years.
  19. Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales Youk tight left hamstring, will be available to PH And looking forward to Detroit series
