  1. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2017 -> 10:15 PM) You have one choice for coverage because your state trashed the program thanks to Rauner and a GOP legislature. That's not on the ACA as designed, that's on your state's leadership. The ACA, as designed, was a pipe dream, but when you have nothing else to argue just say "GOP", point and giggle like a 12 year old and you win. That's how every other discussion on this site ends.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 4, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) I know you personally were negatively impact and that sucks and should be fixed, but the idea that insurance is zero sum and somebody has to lose theirs for someone else to get it is very clearly wrong. Well the other option was the insurance companies could drastically reduce their profits and that sure as hell wasn't gonna happen. The new coverage had to come from somewhere.
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) Wat. Explain. It's the only reason I and many of my friends and family are able to be covered, and the only reason ANY diabetic is able to be covered at all. So. Yeah. Explain. When I had to take my daughter to the hospital, I was no longer allowed to go to the top hospital near me that we used to attend, now forced to visit a s***tier hospital. I now only have one choice of insurance carrier because the ACA forced so many to go out of business. And this carrier is allowed to say I'm not profitable enough for them, so they shut me out of 75% of their network. You do realize that in order for you to suddenly have insurance, they had to take it away from someone else. Not sure why anyone would even want to open a small business anymore, given how screwed over you get on health insurance. And my mom has been diabetic in this country for 45 years and never once had a problem getting insurance.
  4. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) They've wanted to repeal and replace the ACA for that amount of time as well, that went nowhere. Hopefully their tax plan has just as much legislative success. The fact that the ACA is still around is so disappointing. It has put my children's health at risk and now I'm faced with even worse come January 1.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) I think saying something like that in the context of discussing the players protests(and what they are about) is where it was really a poor choice of an analogy. I think the change from asylum to prison is a pretty big slip up given the racial composition of the owners and the players and what the protests are about in the first place.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) Zeke unsuspended. again WTF? This is just laywers printing money going back and forth
  7. That sucks, I enjoyed all the local neighborhood news from parts of the city that aren't really talked about
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) McNair would hire me before Kaepernick. Rumors are that he OKed a workout with him. They signed Matt McGloin but I'm sure that's familiarity because there is a game.in 3 days, he could be gone Monday.
  9. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) Where the f*** did I say that?? It IS disgusting. I'm just giving y'all context. Sweet lord. Your "context" comes off as straight up victim blaming.
  10. Francisco Liriano, World Series Champion
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 06:58 AM) Why? Explain it to me instead of just condemning it. I've seen that life first hand. Literally seen it dozens of times with my own eyes. I've been at parties (either as a guest, or working as a cater waiter in the Hamptons) where teenagers are literally given free reign to get blasted. The parents don't just not care. They enable it. One such party was with Ralph Lauren this past Summer. There were minors drinking everywhere. And they may or may not have been teenagers, but Lauren was certainly surrounded constantly by very young guys, a few of whom stayed over. I'm curious why your knowledge and experience gives you the credibility to say what I said was disgusting and wrong on so many levels. Please elaborate. In my opinion, an adult having sexual relations with a 14 year old is wrong. In your world, because 14 year olds grow up faster in Hollywood and get drunk at adult parties, it's cool. I find that disgusting.
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) And y'all. I guess this probably won't be a popular sentiment either... But the reality is that Hollywood and Broadway ARE different. Kids grow up WAY too fast. They're at parties they shouldn't be at. They're drinking and doing drugs crazy young. This isn't real life. Why do you think so many kid stars grow up to be disasters of human beings? If there was a situation where an adult and minor are in the same place and both under the influence, and a pass is made, but no harassment, no assault, no abuse and no rape is committed, and we don't hear about it until 30 years later and we're relying on the memory of a 14 year old, what's the appropriate response? (do you find your memories of the way the world "was" at 14 to be accurate?) I don't know y'all. I just think we're toppling over an incredibly slippery slope where every single man who gets accused of something is guilty until proven innocent in the court of public opinion. The reality is that MOST - the VAST majority of men - have at one point done or said SOMETHING (no matter how innocuous) that could be construed as sexual harassment. Should every single man have their careers destroyed for mistakes they made years ago? Halperin, Weinstein, O'Reilly, Cosby, NPR guy, others absof***inglutely deserve every single thing they're getting. Men that systematically use their power to abuse, assault and harass women are despicable and deserve to be ruined. Women also deserve to be heard and believed FAR more often than they typically are. I am ALL for the #MeToo movement. I'm just now concerned about where it's heading. Spacey has a track record of this and deserves to be called out and investigated. Key word: investigated. But it's a slippery f***ing slope when he's able to lose his career over no ACTUAL charges and no ACTUAL evidence that any of this took place beyond word-of-mouth. And Rapp's description doesn't even include any illegal activity, does it? That should worry people as well. We can't solve the problem by going the exact opposite direction and abandoning justice and the rule of law in this country (though I imagine this is a lost cause). Like... literally every high-profile man in America is probably in talks with their lawyers drawing up a response for when the inevitable allegation comes out, and the veracity of those claims won't even matter one tiny bit. Does no one see that as a problem? (and mods, if you disagree with this, don't ban me like last time, just delete the post. I'm not trying to cause s***, I'm just trying to have a discussion with other men that I can't have anywhere else. If I'm wrong, show me how I'm wrong, and I'd be happy to change my perspective) That first paragraph is just disgusting and wrong on so many levels.
  13. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) Can't say enough how happy I am we're rebuilding. Given the last 3 World Series champions, you have to be positive as a Sox fan.
  14. During the NLCS, I thought having Darvish would be the difference in winning the World Series. Didn't realize it would be for the Astros, not the Dodgers.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) She will be working at a Popeye's chicken by 2020 Given who her Dad is, I'm sure she'll land in some comfortable opportunity somewhere, that's how politics works.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Because he isn't going to be a buy low guy. He will still cost a significant amount of prospects. Absolutely. He still hit 30 homers, had a .782 OPS, has many years of cheap control, and by all accounts Theo LOVES him.
  17. QUOTE (Quin @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 10:54 PM) Renteria? Renteria was cheap and had already been coaching here, although not an ex White Sox.
  18. And since this is live again...since 1985, teams going home down 3-2 in a best-of-seven are 14-2 when they force Game 7. #dodgers #astros That's from Joe Sheehan Twitter, best follow if you like baseball
  19. Only 20 pitches for Jansen in 2 innings today. Kershaw available, McCullers starting, should be a great game 7. A lot nicer when you don't have a strong dislike for one of the teams. I'll be at the UC following on the mobile
  20. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) and then left early. Good on him. Meh. Sorry that a player showed his emotion on the field.
  21. Branden morrow is still pitching? Roberts has gone crazy.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) I think the history you are pointing to has more to do with the way the White Sox choose their managers than the potential candidates available to them. I tend to agree with Greg here...I think we could attract any number of extremely qualified candidates. Are the candidates not available because of the team or because of the salary offer? Girardi could be hired by the Reds or Padres tomorrow if they offered enough. I think the Sox could have had several extremely qualified candidates, but ownership has no wish to pay them or even meet with them if they never played in Chicago before. It's not about nobody wanting to coach the Sox, it's about the Sox limiting their coaching search.
  23. @AndyMcCullough Rich Hill was very unhappy with Yuli Gurriel's gesture to Yu Darvish in Game 3. Hill stepped off the mound so the fans could boo more.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 05:25 PM) Did this gentleman who Spacey supposedly made a pass at actually state that he was indeed molested? Or that he knew Spacey "wanted to get in his pants," or whatever phrase he used? Not defending anyone, just curious whether his behavior actually rose to the level of molestation or sexual assault, as some folks have alluded to. The "gentleman" was 14 years old at the time. Does it really matter?
