  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 07:28 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/hockey-chicago-b...tm_medium=email I'm thinking the season does NOT start on time
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) Any way Sox could sign him for another year or two or does he want Buehrle money? I think the odds are he signs back with the Cubs for a year or two, no matter where he is traded.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 05:04 AM) Not long after the Cubs hit him... DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN. never forget?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Who cares. Give it a week that half of the team will be playing in other towns. Who cares about next week. I was talking about this week when greg predicted the Marlins whole season would turn around at Wrigley.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) Lester, Dubront, Morales, and Cook all suck at home. Bet the over
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) Playing the lousy Cubs may turn Miami's season around. Is that series with Washington a wraparound 4 gamer? It's 1-2 vs. Wash over the weekend isn't it? Those lousy Cubs are 4-0-1 in their last 5 series & 11-5 in their last 16 games.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Holy lord the last few episodes in season 3 of Breaking Bad are unf***in real. Awesome. Have gone through the first 6 episodes of season 3 in the last 24 hours or so.
  8. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) I've a feeling that the Sox are close to getting Dempster. That would be typical Kenny. The local media reports the Sox are not in on Dempster at all, so of course he gets traded to the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 05:28 PM) And the Detroit Free Press is saying the Tigers are in consideration for him and Scutaro. The latter makes a lot of sense (doesn't he kill the Sox, too?) 1.035 career OPS vs the Sox
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Scott Downs is human Ernesto Frieri is not
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 10:57 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/p...nded/order/true White Sox now first in the American League with 14 blown saves (overall) and tied for 2nd in all of MLB. That statistic is unlikely to change with such an inexperienced pen in the heat of a pennant race. Yet are tied for the 4th best record in baseball. Pretty impressive.
  12. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 06:00 AM) Fransisco Liriano had 15 strikeouts (8 of the first 9 batters k'd) last night. Outside of a walk then a hanging changeup, he was filthy. He has been trending toward the good side of things, and I think the Twins should sell high on him. But will other teams give up good prospects for a guy who have super high and super low valleys remains to be seen. Please trade him before the White Sox have to face him again.

  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) Notice they killed the football game between U of I and Mizzou. It was too tough a noncon game for both. You got to play patsies in noncon. As far as basketball, I guess the neutral site thing at Sprint Center might be what they eventually do in 10 years or so when they play again. Do people actually care much about U of I vs. MU in a neutral site game? Or is it a thing the media hypes up and it's a yawner. Neutral site games don't do it. I guess there'd be a lot of fights in the parking lots with KU and MU playing in Sprint. The Illinois/Mizzou football game was not too tough for both. Mizzou kept spanking Illinois, so that's why they stopped it for an easier home game. (damn you Jeremy Maclin) The UI/Mizzou basketball game is a pretty solid atmosphere and the stadium in St. Louis is sold out every year, 50/50 split between the fanbases. It's one of the top non-conference rivalry games in college b-ball.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) I'm losing track of the bullpen. Who are these f***ing guys?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) How can they possibly have that much room available? Abraham's suspension? Aren't there "bonuses" you can include that circumvent the cap?
  17. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) Brees agrees to a contract. 100M/5yrs NFL-record $60 million guaranteed
  18. Now that Ozzie is gone, can I finally say, f*** BRUCE CHEN!
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) I would be going for BMac and possibly Colon as a consolation prize. Danks is getting lonely on the DL
  20. Tonight Zack Greinke will be the first pitcher to start 3 straight games in the same MLB season since Red Faber in 1917 for your Chicago White Sox.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 09:21 AM) I had a feeling you would say that littlehurt, lol. FWIW, he has gone 7 for 7 in saves since he came back. Ha. Being that my wife is a Cubs fan, I have watched way too many Marmol implosions to trust him at all in a pennant race. Anytime he comes in, she just gets nervous and expects the worse. You are right that he has been much better since he came back in the closers role though. (If you don't count last Friday vs. the Mets)
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) Len Casper was on the score yesterday and he was talking about Cubs tradeable assets, and mentioned that the Cubs were willing to get rid of Marmol and eat most of his contract. Given crains recent injury issues, snatching Dempster and Marmol really seems like not so bad of an idea right now. I would actually put Marmol back in the role he excelled in, 8th inning, and let Reed continue to close. if you can't throw strikes, it doesn't matter if you are closer, set-up guy, or a mop-up guy. Trading for Marmol sounds like a really bad idea right now.
