  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Well hopefully it goes as well as Mauer and Morneau's extensions went for the Twins... Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick #Twins closing in on multiyear contract extension with Ryan Doumit, agent Paul Cobbe confirms. A catcher with a career full of injuries? I'm sure it will go well.
  2. Federer loses the first two sets to #29 Julien Benneteau
  3. Brian Bruney to the DL w/ left hip inflammation
  4. On the radio today, Thibs said that Deng's wrist is improving. He doens't think he will need surgery, so he might ready when the season starts.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Cruise and Holmes getting divorced, hope it finally comes out that hes gay Cruise & Travolta: dating by 2013
  6. Stuff like this is why the internet/Twitter are so awesome: @MikeTyson .@holyfield's ear would've been much better with his new BBQ sauce. check it out http://realdealbbqsauce.com ‪#TGIF
  7. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN It's worth remembering that Adam Warren, who starts for the Yankees tonight, would have been part of proposed Lee-Montero/SEA deal in '10.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:44 AM) Fixed. There is no airport in Sunrise, he would fly in to Miami.
  9. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) Ahh, makes sense. I personally think Leonard is going to have a very effective NBA career, and I'm nowhere near biased, wasn't a huge fan of him at ILL. Crying on the bench during a beatdown to Nebraska then having the gall to show your face in a bar that night is pretty incredible. His attitude is definitely something that gives me caution. He is gonna have to handle getting pushed around by grown ass men, and will have to put a hell of a lot more work in to improve. I guess I am slightly discounting how young he is, that he still has time to develop his skills, time will tell.
  10. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) Kirk Hinrich is absolutely awful at basketball these days. Also a Brian Cook - Meyers Leonard comparison, that's odd LOL, I realize Cook & Leonard are very different types of players. My point was that Cook has managed to stay in the league for 9 seasons, despite averaging 5.5 points/game over his career. I can see Leonard similarily hanging around the NBA for a while, but not being anything special.
  11. The NBA draft is funny. So many players are selected early based entirely on potential & measurables, yet it feels like over & over again players like that are often busts. On a similar note, I don't see Meyers Leonard being worth a #11 pick. With this size, he can probably stick around the NBA for a while, (see Cook, Brian) but I don't see him being anything special at all. Good for him though to get drafted & get paid.
  12. Giants have not given up a run in 36 innings. Tonight some guy named Matt Cain takes the mound.
  13. An extra thanks to Joe Girardi for f***ing up that bullpen situation last night. Robertson is a stud and was your new closer til he got hurt. If he is available, then he absolutely should have started the 9th.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:34 AM) It will be interesting to see where he lands. He has a no-trade clause too which adds to the intrigue.
  15. QUOTE (Wedge @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:27 AM) I think Youkilis is a lot more fresh than those guys. It's tough for me to call a guy who put up a 124 OPS+ and made the all star team the prior season washed up. Plus, I don't think Youkilis was on Kenny's radar until this year. That's for certain, because he has never been on the market until last month.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:37 AM) Paging Mr Luongo... your plane is now boarding. Committed Indians ‎3 years, $12M ($4M per) for Cory Schneider w/ Vancouver. Destination: Miami or Toronto. It still hasn't been 100% confirmed that it's him, but his supposed Twitter account has been hilarious, especially when trade rumors are brought up.
  17. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 11:11 PM) Ya I know, its just kind of a bummer that the guy who actually shoot a kid with a BB gun got no felony while I, the driver of the car did. I was 18 at the time. Was the shooter not 18? If he was younger, that could have had an effect?
  18. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) It's not dead, 2 of the BCS games including the granddaddy is still there. It's less than what it was, but I almost prefer it this way, I can focus on both BCS games without others on at the same time. I just hope they keep it at about this level. I heard something today that said they were shooting for 3 big bowls dec 31 and 3 on jan 1. I wasn't sure if this included any of the playoff games. Personally, I hate it that way. I'd rather have multiple bowl games on at the same time all day/night on New Years Day. Sometimes those BCS bowls are boring, and then you have nothing else to watch.
  19. Lopsided trade of the century update: Cashner no-hits the Astros into the 7th inning in his first start of the year last night.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 01:00 AM) Don't you think the cardboard cutout of Rachel Phelps would get old after a while? Especially since they keep updating the cutout every year with a new picture. I can't imagine she has aged well over the last 20+ years.
  21. QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) Am I missing something? They are moving 3:15 games to 3:25 to avoid overlap, but are leaving 3:05 starts the same?! Shouldn't they move 3:05 games as well? The 3:15 games were doubleheader games when FOX/CBS was showing a game at noon, hence the overlap problem. The 3:05 games had nothing preceding them on TV, so they can stay. As always, TV/$$$$ rule everything.
