  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) Gavin had it dialed in last start, finally. Got a good feeling the Sox win in a romp tonight. I was thinking the same thing this morning, that Gavin may be set for a patented hot streak. But then I was reminded of this stat. The Twins own him. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Gavin Floyd is 4-11 with a 6.29 era against the Twins. Happy Tuesday!
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) Heath Bell gave up 4 in the 9th. Ozzie is going to need more beer and sleeping pills. That's a brutal loss. A bit reminiscent of the Bobby Jenks blowup @ Target Field.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Hawk really suggesting that Ventura's stressed guys running out every grounder they hit? That's Dick Stockton-esque bad commentating. That's an insult to Dick Stockton
  4. QUOTE (everafan @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) Thought that was gone. Not sure if that stayed in because of the park or if Mauer has lost some power.
  5. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) We're 12-25 in Minnesota since September of 2007 for a reason folks. Need to get this hex off of us. 6-1 in Minnesota since August 2011
  6. Tigers up 3-0 in Arlington already. Who is this Justin Grimm character pitching for Texas?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) Dunn has no prayer against Liriano tonight. Would have been a good night to get him a breather. Could have gotten Lillibridge some ABs vs the lefty. Oh wait...
  8. Did you see how hard Youkilis tried on that groundout? Grindy!
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) Someone add this to the lead post! Edited my post, hope it works.
  10. Home run D-Wise!! Indians down 4-0 in the 2nd. Not only do the Yankees still have Swisher, but they also have DeWayne Wise, Jayson Nix, Chris Stewart, Andruw Jones, Bone Loogan, & Sweaty Freddy. Quite the random crew of ex-Sox, most of whom are very insignificant. (And AAAAAAArdsma is on the DL)
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) Requiem for a Hardass - Grantland article on Youk Good to know that all the hate I have for him is completely justified.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) Byrd was like a 3 yr/15mm deal, not that bad of a contract considering he as an AS for a year there. There are much worse Cubs signings in the past few years than Byrd. Yeah that's true, he wasn't half bad in 2010. It should have been obvious that his stats were a bit inflated from Arlington/Conte though.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) Weren't a lot of those bad trades and contracts forced on him by ownership? Somewhat, yeah. Zell gave him the green light to spend whatever it takes to win a WS and up the franchise value while he sells. That was the main reason for the overbidding on Soriano. They did make the playoffs two straight years, and were the best regular season team in 08. But I think Marlon Byrd was after that spending spree, so that was just a bad contract on a guy with PED connections who only hit well in Texas.
  14. Surprise, surprise, Brandon McCarthy back on the DL
  15. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) What happened to Frasor, too? I haven't seen him in a while. Did he get sent down too? Sox traded him back to Toronto in the offseason.
  16. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) Was that Youk's number in Boston? Yup
  17. Jordan Danks to give up #20 to Youk. Danks to wear #7
  18. Sounds like the Cubs will finally promote Babe Ruth, Jr. tomorrow. They would call him up today, but they want to protect Johan Santana from facing such a monster. Meanwhile, Andrew Cashner is being converted from a reliever to a starter. 3 solid starts in AA so far.
  19. FWIW: Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA The Bulls have privately assured Luol Deng that there's "no chance" of a deal sending him to the Warriors, league source tells Y!
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) I have no idea why, but I feel like Jason Vargas will wind up on the White Sox around the trade deadline. No thank you. @ Safeco: 42.1 IP, 4 HRs allowed, 3.19 ERA, 1.11 WHIP away from Safeco: 60 IP, 16 HRs allowed, 5.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) I've thought the same a few times. The lineup I'd like to see: CF De Aza 3B Youk DH Dunn 1B Konerko C Pierzynski RF Rios LF Viciedo 2B Beckham SS Ramirez The lineup we will probably see: CF De Aza 2B Beckham DH Dunn 1B Konerko C Pierzynski 3B Youk RF Rios LF Viciedo SS Ramirez I think it will be like this: CF De Aza 2B Beckham DH Dunn 1B Konerko RF Rios C Pierzynski 3B Youk LF Viciedo SS Ramirez
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) Thought they didnt start for like another month. The US qualifying trials for swimming start today, so all the talk is how many events Phelps will qualify for. The track & field qualifications were this past weekend too. But yeah, the actual Olympics begin July 27.
