  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) I'm not saying that I'm for it, I'm saying he's certainly a trade asset. Whether or not we want to trade him is a different story altogether. No doubt. You just mentioned Wright in that post, and that seems counter productive to trade ADA for Wright, who will be expensive for the future. But yeah, if this season falls apart, ADA can definitely get you a solid prospect from a team trying to compete right now. He is cheap, but he is close to 30 already too.
  2. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) This is one of the things I love about Target Field. The ushers don't let people down during batters. Only between batters or innings. Awesome. Probably because they are all hockey fans.
  3. I only watch soccer from time to time, but it always amazes me how often players sky the ball like 50 feet over the net.
  4. Tigers win in 10. Lead down to 2 games.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I wonder how many people picked up Turner for their fantasy teams today. I did. Thought about it, but the Cardinals can hit so didn't do it. Happy with my decision.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) Tigers coming up with Cabrera, Fielder, Boesch. Expecting only one guy to bat this inning. Boggs, Scrabble & Marte get out of it. To the 10th we go
  7. Cards tie up Detroit 1-1 in the 5th. Super prospect Jacob Turner has allowed 9 baserunners, but only one run so far.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) If they do bring it back, there's still some hope. Yeah, OKC can definitely win the last two at home. But getting there after a few gut-wrenching losses will be tough.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Here's a player that hasn't been mentioned that may have more value than almost anyone we're talking about -- Alejandro de Aza. He could easily be a big piece of a deal that brings a David Wright type player in. We may regret letting him go, or we may get to see Jared Mitchell roam center field for years and forget about it. Then who plays CF & leads off this season? Jared Mitchell isn't ready. No thanks to Lillibridge.
  10. QUOTE (black jack @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) I'd pay the contract and pick up the option year. For Middlebrooks? That's about $30 million.
  11. QUOTE (Wedge @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) Let's flip this around a bit. How about a trade involving Peavy and Middlebrooks as the centerpieces? Unless the White Sox are paying Peavy's contract, that's never gonna happen.
  12. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) the sox have a groupon offer out now, if anyone's interested: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/ticket...B174M37G1V-1Q81 $56 for the brewer series. the cost of the patio ticket plus the game ticket is only $6 higher than what was posted back when tix first went on sale. That deal would be way better if the food/drink was included during the game. I don't want to get there two hours early just to take advantage of it and be forced to a timie limit.
  13. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) I don't think there was any doubt that last night's plunking was intentional. If I'm not mistaken (and I may be), I thought Corpus' arm angle was different on that pitch. He usually delivers from nearly sidearm, and it looked like he was closer to 3/4 on that one. Regardless, the way Corpus acted and the way Svuem immediately started jawing at the ump, I'm nearly positive it was intentional. FWIW, from @Scottmerkin De Aza said that he definitely felt Corpas hit him intentionally to open the eighth. It seemed pretty obvious. De Aza also said he's friends with Corpas so it wasn't anything De Aza did. When asked what he could do in that situation, De Aza smiled and said, "wear it."
  14. Cool, thanks. After some of the crazy scenes I had heard about, was a bit curious.
  15. I have the whole Breaking Bad marathon on my DVD, just need to start watching it. Do people's wives enjoy the show as much too? Deciding if I should try to watch with the wife or go at it alone.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) Brewers switched up their rotation: Fri: Greinke vs Sale Sat: Wolf vs Humber Sun: Fiers vs Quintana I hope the word "salvage" isn't being used on Sunday. Friday is very winnable. Check out Greinke's home/away splits since joining the Brewers: Home: 15-0, 2.50 ERA Road: 8-8, 4.80 ERA And Randy Wolf's ERA is over 5 this year. Just hopefully Humber doesn't implode again.
  17. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:11 AM) Sox fans are educated; you should give them a little more credit. They won't support a half-assed rebuild, no. But, if the team had a defined direction with a quality farm system to support it, I think you would be surprised at the attendance. Fans want to hope for the future. They will support something if they can envision a better future for the organization. Look at our minor league system now, and show me where the hope is. You can't be talking about the same fanbase. Past attendance numbers show that all that matters is what's on the field in Chicago. I'd bet half the fans at Sox games couldn't name where their AA team was even located.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 08:04 AM) Matt Spiegel ‏@MattSpiegel670 1 hit, 1 BB, 2 runs, a sparkling play! Viva la Escobar! RT @scottmerkin Robin said Hudson will be back at 3B for Friday's opener vs. Brewers Booooooo Robin! Free Eduardo!
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 07:54 AM) Considering no one else bid near that high over the winter, and it is backloaded? None. If people thought 4/$58 was bad, what will they think of 3/$51?
  20. I think Greenie Pill Pockets may be laced with crack cocaine. My dog is straight addicted to them, I feed him one and he sits at attention for the next 5 minutes, begging for more.
  21. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 06:53 AM) But the Sox deserve some responsibility for keeping fans away during the most optimum week of the season. Thanks to dynamic pricing, City Series bleacher seats went for an outrageous $90 — hard for many families to justify in this economy. "I wasn't comfortable taking the prices for this series lower,'' Boyer said. "But, when all is said and done, we can look at it and learn from this.'' "I love that pressure,'' Boyer said. "There is a sense in our organization that none of us can throw, hit or run but we know we're contributing to the team on a daily basis.'' It sounds like the Sox are trying to find that optimum selling point and they over guessed the limit. Now the fans have spoken with their attendance and the Sox will have to adjust. They actually already have with those $5 bleacher deals and the "save of the week" deals and such. The exact same thing is happening on the North Side too. Bleacher tickets vs. the Red Sox were $100 face due to dyanmic pricing. The only difference is that the Cubs have their own brokers buying up tickets, so their attendance numbers don't drop. But if you look at the stands, there are way less fans than a few years ago.
  22. It sure gets quiet around here when the Sox win a game. Hopefully this starts one of Gavin's patented hot streaks.
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) I think Escobar deserves another shot after today's performance. Absolutely.
