  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Apparently the White Sox have lost interest in Youkilis http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1225420...white-sox-radar Good news.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) Youkilis for Thornton maybe? Especially possible if Morales is turned into a starter for Boston. Then who plays third when Youkilis goes on the DL?
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) KW has loved Bard for a while. He's been untouchable. He's still fairly priced contractually. Its been said the Sox are looking for a reliever. Maybe its Youkilis, maybe its Bard, maybe its someone else they are discussing. I'm speculating Bard because KW rarely takes his eyes off his targets no matter how long he's been eyeing them. I hope not, because that would be dumb. He is still under control for 3 more years, but he is already making almost $2 million. And it's not like the Sox have tons of resources to trade anyway.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) Not really. Most tickets are already sold. Their walk ups are next to nothing. Believe me, there is going to be questioning tonight when there are plenty of empty seats. They will fail to mention its at least $85 to sit downstairs and about $50 for the worst seats in the house. My couch, 46 inch Samsung, and a/c are looking really good tonight, although I'll go if I find something reasonable. Walk ups may be minimal, but giving up on a pennant race would definitely decrease them.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8060191/...s-vote-mlb-best Wow, look at the Cell getting some national respect. I expected it to be bottom 5, cause that has been its rep.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) I'd rather have this series during the week. Those games are harder to sell than weekends. Exactly, that's an extra 12-15k each for 3 weekday games.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) Maybe it will happen. It was mentioned today that Boston has scouted the Sox the last 4 days. I wonder if KW wants Bard. Why the f*** would you waste your limited resources for Bard? Jones, Crain & Reed are pretty solid as far as RH relievers go. He has obviously proven he's not much of a starter.
  8. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) You would think Ron Artest would keep his mouth shut on Harden... https://mobile.twitter.com/MettaWorldPeace/...548881768333313 No, it's Ron Artest. Something like that is 100% expected from him.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) If someone took Peavy, Dunn and Rios right now, it would theoretically free up over $81 million the next 3.5 years. I think you could find a centerpiece that could excite the fanbase. If you did that, attendance would take an even bigger hit.
  10. The defense is starting their case today, and they open with a couple former PSU coaches stating that they used to shower with little boys too, it's normal, nothing wrong with that. WE ARE PENN STATE
  11. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) Which was highly exacerbated by Brooks resting Westbrook for like 5 minutes during the same stretch, and two incredibly stupid fouls on guys shooting 3's. The Thunder did it to themselves. What? Are you saying that OKC played badly and the loss wasn't 100% to blame on the refs? How dare you speak such blasphemy!
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Whoa. Any word on his velocity? http://blogs.providencejournal.com/sports/...ajor-leagu.html
  13. Mark Prior as a reliever in AAA: 6.2 IP, 0 runs, 15 K
  14. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 02:24 AM) Anyone else think it's f***ing retarded a team gets three straight home games in the Finals? I agree that 2-2-1-1-1 would make more sense, but only twice has the home team swept all 3 games since it started in 1985. The road team has done it 3 times.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 05:21 PM) NFL long snapper. In the Tribune a few months ago, there was some kid from the west suburbs, who just started long snapping in 6th-7th grade because no one else was any good at it. Kept doing it in high school, & got a full scholarship from Notre Dame. Just to be a long snapper.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:43 AM) I guarantee you KC is going to finish ahead of the still dysfunctional Sox. Sweeping the Cubs would right the ship, but Zach in Game One? Ouch. So you don't think the Sox will win 75 games? The Royals haven't won more than that in 9 years, and I see nothing that makes me think that will change.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) I do. I think Buehrle will be an effective pitcher as long as he wants to play. He is a soft tossing lefty, it isn't as if he lost an upper 90s fastball and has to reinvent himself. I'm sick of watching Danks. Everytime he is staked to a lead he coughs it up. I used to think he was going to be something special, but the past 2 1/2 seasons he has managed to change my mind. I obviously disagree, but I can see where you are coming from. However, that still doesn't mean Mark is worth a 4 year, $58 million contract at age 33.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Still, if you had to choose between Scherzer/Porcello and Humber/Floyd, you'd never go with the latter pair. If you put it that way, yeah I agree, although there was a point last year where I may have thought about choosing the two White Sox. I do think there is too much hype for Scherzer/Porcello considering their overall performance though.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) You know this is twice you have said this about me. I didn't say anything like this. I believe Buehrle is and will remain the better pitcher. If you don't, that's fine. Greg, you saying I tend to whine sometimes is incredibly hilarious. Do you think Buehrle will be a better pitcher in 2014 & 2015? Danks did have a lower ERA in 2008, 2009, & 2010 as well.
  20. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 03:07 PM) Chase Headley, Chris Nelson, Ryan Roberts, Ian Stewart could be some names to look at at 3b. We already have Dallas McPherson in AAA. Why would we trade for his younger clone?
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) Scherzer looks like he is turning things around, had the shutout today. Fister's tough and is back. If they also get back Smyly from blister problems, it's going to be very hard to stop them. Our roster, as currently comprised, isn't going to be enough to hold them off. Right now, the only thing keeping them from taking first place back is Valverde, their defense and injuries to Smyly and Avila. Come on, it's Scherzer, we have seen this before. His ERA in the 4 starts before this one was 5.82. He will have another stellar outing then get shelled a couple times.
  22. Re: Danks, looking at his 2008-2010 stats, age, & lack of injury history, I thought it was a good deal. I thought 2011 was just a bad unlucky year. However, I could see why people would question it. Either way, it's way too early to call it a bad deal, let the next 4.5 years play out first.
  23. Signing Mark to the same contract Miami gave him would have been f***ing stupid /thread
