  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 06:39 AM) Sox have to have an advantage, schedule-wise. They play the four worst teams in the NL Central while avoiding the top two, and the Dodgers are without Kemp. Pirates are the 2nd best team in the NL Central?
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 07:32 AM) Series is in Chicago. If not, then 15 members of my family are going to be sitting in an empty stadium tomorrow. That would be impressive considering the stadium would be closed and they would need to break in somehow.
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 07:06 AM) is this the first time back in houston since the world series? It would be but these games aren't in Houston. Third time since 2005 Sox/Astros have played, always been in Chicago.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Yep, and Capuano and Lynn/Wainwright I ain't scurred of Capuano or Lynn
  6. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) do we face Kershaw? yup, looks like it
  7. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) They get the Cardinals and Dodgers on the road, so good luck with that. Cards have won 4 of their last 13 and the Dodgers are due to regress at some point soon, lol.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) Wish terry Doyle was in the pen right now, but instead he's 4 outs away from a no-no. Struck out Austin Jackson twice. LOL. Terry Doyle? That desperate already?
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) Is Fukudome considered a good trade chip? A bad back and a .489 OPS could probably get you a bag of baseballs, most likely used.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) It would be funny (not really) if the Sox, Indians and Tigers all went 4-11 the next 15 interleague, and the division winner goes to the playoffs at 81-81. The "system isn't fair" people will go nuts. While two 90+ win teams from the East/West play a one-game playoff for the wild card spot.
  11. Anybody watching the Wang-Dickey matchup in DC?
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) This is true to an extent. But that's not hurting his development. He'll learn more pitching against MLB hitters than MiLB hitters so his development will be enhanced if he stays up. If they use him as a long man out of the pen he'll still be ready for 4-5 innings when called upon. You are definitely correct about his development. His pitching endurance and ability to go deep in a start is the one thing that would concern me.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) Hawk is going to be ecstatic. He loves outfield D. Great. Gonna have to mute the TV again tonight.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) What more development does he actually need? He's proven he can get MLB hitters out. All he really needs is a spot in the rotation. Until that happens why not let him stay in the pen where he can continue to work on getting MLB hitters out. Staying in the minors and perfecting getting minor league hitters out won't really do him much good. When you need a spot start or two out of him, he won't be able to go as deep because he has been working in the bullpen. Sending him to the minors keeps his arm stretched out. With the state of the rotation currently, you need a 6th start ready to go.
  15. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) Gotcha... I'm the same way with certain SEC teams. I always root against Florida and Georgia, and now Vandy has crept into that mix simply b/c their Head Coach is a jackass. Otherwise, I tend to root for the rest of the conference. I have a story you might like about Columbus and how much that city loves Ohio St: My family lived in Columbus for 15 years, and one night my dad overheard my sister (who was 9 yrs old at the time) singing the Ohio St fight song when she was laying in bed. Of course, he was a bit miffed and had no idea why she'd be singing that. Apparently, they had been teaching the OSU fight song in school during music class. As an Illinois grad, it's safe to say my Dad was not pleased. Oh, and when I was in elementary school, we used to have "Scarlet and Gray" days on Fridays during football season. Everybody was supposed to wear those colors, and if you didn't, it was safe to say the other kids would give you a really hard time. I didn't think it was possible, but this post has increased my hatred for OSU.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Tigers with a 1st inning 4-spot off Lowe in Detroit. It's about damn time the AL started treating Lowe like the washed-up bad pitcher he is.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) Her. Saw the TX from T3 as well. Too many to name. She was on Boy Meets World? Gotta look that up.
  18. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) I'd love to see the Sox cut Ohman and put Quintana in the pen.. Then who is your sixth starter?? You will definitely need one at some point.
  19. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:15 AM) I would of lost that bet as well. I guess, without looking at stats, that Rios "All Star" years in Toronto were overstated. I look at it the other way. I forgot how much power Crede had. A 30-homer season? Did not remember that.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 08:04 AM) I don't see Poland advancing in that group. Russia/Czech Rep (A) Netherlands/Germany (B) - but holy s*** Group of Death, Portugal or Denmark could just as easily advance Spain/Croatia © - Italy is going to have problems scoring Sweden/England (D) And in a completely non out-of-the-box prediction, the winner will be Spain Unfortunately, I concur about Poland not advancing. Group B is ridiculous, stuck between picking Holland & Portugal. My only major difference is I think France will escape Group D instead of England. Not having Wayne Rooney for the first two matches will be too much to overcome. Unluckily for themm, Ukraine is their final match.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 02:26 AM) As a basketball fan, this is something that I should know. But reading this shocked the s*** out of me. Only three f***ing teams from the west have seen the finals since 23 shoved Byron Russell out of the way for #6. That is f***ing mind-boggling. That surprised the hell out of me too, but I guess it makes sense. The Spurs or Lakers won 9 titles in 12 years, with the Lakers finishing second twice in that span too. I was just looking at the past NBA finals, since 1979 only 10 teams have won the NBA title. That number won't change this year, since MIA/BOS/OKC have all won since then.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 07:12 AM) Alright, alright.... Peavy will pitch a gem. Sox will win. There happy? Thanks, you da man!!!
