  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) Where is Brian Anderson when you need him... BA - 2/9, 2 HRs, 5 K Mark Kotsay - 7/22, 4 2b
  2. Sox vs. the King Beckham - 2/13, 1 2b Dunn - 0/2 Kosuke - 0/5 Hudson - 2/10 PK - 7/24, 2 HR Lilli - 1/5 Morel - 2/3 AJP - 6/29, 3 2b Alexei - 5/19, 1 2b Rios - 4/20
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) paul hoynes ‏@hoynsie Latest word of Roberto Hernandez, aka Fausto Carmona, is the he could be back in U.S. by All-Star break. #Indians. Hurry up Fausto (or Roberto), the sooner he arrives, the better for the White Sox.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) So the Cubs are willing to eat $45 million of the $48 million left on Soriano's contract. If you really needed a DH, that probably wouldn't be the worst option. When the guy is hot, he's on fire. If they are gonna eat THAT much money, I would think they would expect a pretty good prospect in return. Not a Zambrano type deal where they ate the money for a crappy AAAA pitcher. That was only $15 million.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) Google Pat Foley sucks, you'll see many of the same complaints launched at Hawk. And to them you say: QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:57 AM) That's you're opinion. You don't have to watch at all. You can always turn on the radio, or spend $12 on AT BAT 12 and listen to the feed from the other team. Why should I not be able to listen to the Score during the houres Boers and Bernstein are on because I think their act is 8th grade? You don't like it, you don't have to listen to it. Welcome to the USA.
  6. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 31, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) Really? There is no comparison between a broadcaster and a manager. I will say this again... Familiarity breeds contempt. Like with Pat Foley? He has been announcing for a similar time period and I observe very little contempt in his direction.
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ May 31, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Whats funny is when Hawk's time comes there's not a single person on this board who won't miss him. There will be plenty of times when the Sox do something awesome and you'll sit there and think "I wish Hawk called that moment" Hawk is White Sox baseball. When Phil Humber threw the perfect game, never once did Hawk cross my mind. Hawk to Sox baseball now is the same as what Ozzie was to Sox baseball the last two seasons. There were some great times, his legacy will never be forgotten, but it's definitely time for a change.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 31, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Cubs are telling teams that "nearly everyone but starter Jeff Samardzija is available." Some names on that list you've heard before: Matt Garza, Ryan Dempster, Carlos Marmol and Alfonso Soriano, amongst others. Apparently club president Theo Epstein is open to moving Starlin Castro as well. Castro "can be obtained for two impact prospects," according to Nightengale. Bryan LaHair could provide pop for a contender. Trading him would open the door for top prospect Anthony Rizzo. Epstein has never shown an aversion for taking risks, so this situation warrants monitoring. On August 1, Chicago's roster may look nothing like it does today. USA Today Bob Nightengale should receive a Pulitzer for that scoop, groundbreaking stuff there.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) I know. But that was so damn epic. He's been here for 57234712374 years. May as well tolerate him. It's like Wite. You want him to vanish but he keeps coming back. At least Hawk will be dead soon. LOL. This is easily the best pro-Hawk argument anyone has made in this entire thread.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) I think Quintana has built some decent value this season. Very true so far. Thanks for cutting him Evil Empire.
  11. How are the Sox gonna be buyers if their farm system is soooooooo bad?
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) Oh I understand...and I wasn't trying to state whether or not I thought anyone was necessarily "wrong." I don't think Steve and those who agree with him are "wrong" about Hawk -- it's a matter of opinion. I'm just trying to point out that there is more than one perspective here...those that Hawk wears on because they aren't familiar with Hawk's "time zone," those that appeciate Hawk because they are from his "time zone," those that are annoyed by his homer schtick, and those that love him for it. No one is wrong here. It's not black and white, either. What are you talking about? It's the internet, I'm always right and everyone else is always wrong!
  13. Rumors that the Rangers may move Feliz back to the bullpen when he comes off the DL. Other than Darvish, that rotation has struggled recently & Oswalt may not be the answer. But a bullpen of Adams/Uehara/Ogando/Feliz/Nathan? That is incredible. The starters barely need to go 5 innings.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:58 AM) Speaking of....I was watching the Dodgers game last night as I went to sleep, as I often do, because I love Vin Scully and last night we had Gallardo going against Kershaw. A few times, Scully didn't have a clue what was going on. The Brewers had runners on 2nd and 3rd in a 1-0 game where the Dodgers were leading. Carlos Gomez hits a single to left field, and both runs easily score. However, Scully, in his advanced age, says something to the effect of "and the runner will score from third and we have a tie ballgame..." It took him about 15 seconds to even recognize another run had scored and the Brewers were now actually leading 2-1. I'm sure the producer was in his ear telling him this. Later the same inning, a Brewer hit a ball down the right field line that was clearly foul. Scully says something like "And that is a flyball that will eventually end up coming down in foul territory...and Ethier makes the catch, crossing over the line into fair territory at the last moment..." Meanwhile, the ball was never foul, Ethier never went into foul territory, and caught the ball clearly well in fair territory. The point is, Scully makes mistakes like this all the time, and I am sure it annoys the hell out of the younger Dodger fans. However, Scully is an absolute legend in the industry and I'm certain the older Dodgers fans simply adore him. I know I tune in specifically to hear him call games, because it's like music to my ears. And I'm not even a Dodger fan. Just because he is a legend doesn't mean those young Dodger fans are necessarily wrong. Just like with any job, sometimes time passes people up. I used to enjoy listening to Hawk, but those days have passed, it happens. (I don't listen to Scully, so I can't comment on him, just generalizing)
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 31, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) If Boston makes another Finals guys like Simmons would never shut up about it. And if Miami makes it but failed, that continues to diminish Lebron's legacy as a "King" of basketball. I guess that's my thinking. Either way, I don't see anyone beating SA four times. His Twitter rant about the refs today is awful enough. I'm not saying they did a good job, but take it easy.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) This STRETCH of a post is brought to you by Hawk Harrelson. GET ON BACK THERE!
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) You can always mute it and make your own comments. If you're watching the game, why do you need someone to tell you if its a strike? Why should I be forced to watch the game on mute because the announcer is a senile old man?
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) He only says "by cracky" where there's a reference to hair. Hence everytime the name "Furbush" comes up, he says "by cracky!". I'm pretty certain it's just a button he hits at this point. Boers could definitely go, last week Rosenbloom (whom I love on the weekends) and Law Holmes both were on with Bernstein and it was quite enjoyable. Either way, I love the show. I get the "by cracky" reference & joke, just commenting that it has become his only major contribution. Last week w/o Boers was pretty good, although sometimes L-Holmes tries a bit to hard to impress Danny Bernstein.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) Both are very intelligent, but are very arrogant and act like 14 year olds from time to time. If ever one of "their guys" gives them information that turns out to be correct, they can't pat themselves on the back enough. When the info is wrong, which it is most of the time, its never brought up again. Most callers don't have valid points, but if you think your entire audience is stupid and have to put down everything they say if they aren't kissing your behind, why take calls? I really have no respect for those guys. What intrigues me is how much you hate Hawk but like grown men in the 40's and 50's who sometimes can't go 5 minutes without some sort of sexual innuendo you would hear from a sophomore in HS. If Hawk is embarrassing the White Sox, aren't these guys embarrassing the Score? You can't compare Hawk vs. B & B. I listen to B & B to entertain me in my car as I drive home from work and/or run errands. If they annoy me, I can change the channel and listen to music instead. As soon as I pull in the garage, the radio is off and I am done with them. Hawk is the play-by-play guy for White Sox baseball, and the only one I can listen to when I want to watch a game on TV. I can't choose a different announcer.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) Bernstein actually is very intelligent...but he is incredibly arrogant. Boers, is just a freaking goofball who brings Bernstein down to his level, which results in the abuse of their position to just make an ass out of everyone they disagree with. I would love it if Boers actually had to debate something seriously, without being able to turn it into a 3rd grade joke or without his buddy Bernstein jumping in to save the day. That's definitely true about Bernstein. I think Terry's age has caught up with him (kinda like Hawk). Occasionally there will be a discussion where Terry will say something intelligent that shows you why has been kept around for so long. Then all of a sudden he will yell "By Cracky!" and then so much for that momoent.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 31, 2012 -> 09:59 AM) Alright, because of a story in Maxim I am going to start watching the wire, hope its as good as advertised. You won't be disappointed. As soon as we started watching it, we couldn't turn it off until all 5 seasons were done.
