  1. Sounds like this is more precautionary, Danks said he'll be ready June 4 when he is eligible
  2. Damn instant replay, whose idea was it anyway?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) Of course, how many games has Reed gotten a key hold that someone else might have blown? "someone else" = Santiago?
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ May 24, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) I am with you 100%. Yeah profits! I still would be so crushed if I found out the team lost money in 2005. It would totally ruin that WS for me. Which year(s) payroll made 2005 possible? #OccupyUSCellular Jerry & the 1% won't overpay old ballplayers that hold nostalgic value to me. I don't care how much they cost, it's not my money!
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2012 -> 12:55 PM) Too bad the thread won't end right here. It should have ended with this a few posts above yours: QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) I find it comical that folks are still trying to convince greg that Ozzie is anything short of amazing.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ May 24, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) And for people who prefer to get their sports news from the middle of the newspaper or the WSJ, instead of the back page, that means a lot. For fans who prefer watching a very good player pitch, who would continue to at least follow the team every five days, a winning bottom line for a privately held corporation, ain't that great of news. That has nothing to do with it. It's a good business decision because you don't want you team handicapped by an overpriced contract as a player's skill set diminishes with age.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Let's be honest. He's not the MVP if the season ended right now. If he'd hit 5 more home runs so far this year, he still wouldn't be the MVP right now. Well, the current MVP front-runner is way overdue for an injury/relapse, so by default, Konerko is the MVP right now.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) It is his major league debut f***. 4-hit CG shutout
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 24, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) Wood AINEC. If the internet back then was anything like it is now, he would of been very hyped. Still a good reliever for a number of years, but damn what could of been... That said, still a good career for him. Now if you wanna talk about even more of a disappointment, look at his former teammate on the Cubs who everyone thought was gonna be one of the best in the game (was such a stud at USC)... That's the winner right there. I remember how badly the Twins were getting flamed after 2003 for picking the cheaper hometown boy instead of him.
  10. Kerry Wood and it's not even a question. In his 5th career start, he threw what many consider to be the greatest game EVER pitched, and Bill James GameScore backs that up. Then he is solid in 2003, takes the Cubs on this magical run and blows it when they are right on the WS doorstep, then he is never a good starter again.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 23, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) VEEP is terrific Good stuff and keeps getting better.
  12. Pittman suspended for 3 games. Haslem suspended for 1 game.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ May 23, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) Stat of the day -- Alexei Ramirez 2012 BABIP: .239 Career BABIP: .290 Bad luck? I hope so. That whole "he starts slow every year" excuse doesn't work as well come late May or early June.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Scott Podsednik went 2-for-3 with a homer Wednesday in his first start for the Red Sox. That's hilarious. Good for him. I am confused as to why the Red Sox would need a scrub like that if Theo is so good at building baseball empires.
  15. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ May 23, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) over what? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85456
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 23, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) I was talking about this last night. Left in the playoffs are 4 teams with hot goalies. Phoenix ran into a hot goalie with an actual team around him. And its hard to root for LA since their fanbase is awful, but I hate both teams in the east. 3 of those goalies aare actually solid goalies. Phoenix is one team that pulled a hot goalie out of their ass.
  17. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ May 23, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) So, uh, I got the job. Hah Now accepting move ins... Good stuff, congrats!
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ May 23, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) And look at jail time compared. Too little jail time for DUIs. People are buying their way out of jail. This is a huge problem IMO. If the potential penalty for a DUI was a mandatory six years in prison, instead of just a mandatory loss of driving privilges for six months, people might think twice about it. Considering how many people lose their lives due to drunk driving, the penalties really should be stiffer.

  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 23, 2012 -> 10:58 AM) well that's silly. I don't need an announcer to cheer with me for the White Sox. I can do that myself. I just want to know what is going on in the game and why. Also, maybe I can learn a thing or two. Hawk does little of that.
  21. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 23, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) his whole "m.o" is to call games for the team he loves. yeah he'd like to get into the hall of fame, i'm sure. but listening to that guy, you know his heart is 110% into his work. how many of you can say the same thing? you'd rather them hire someone that doesn't give 2 s***s about the sox? I don't care how many s***s he gives about the Sox? I want an intelligent play-by-play guy that offers great baseball insight, not an idiot crying about every play & repeatedly talking about how Yaz is the best person to ever step foot on this planet.
  22. Jabari Parker is a Mormon? How did I never know that before?
  23. I support this post 100%. Hawk needs to go. I spent Friday & Sunday listening to Len & Bob, cause anything is better than Hawk.
  24. Tomorrow the Twins starter is making his ML debut. I guess that makes tonight a must-win.
  25. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 23, 2012 -> 12:12 AM) Kings to the Finals. Hopefully they party with something equal to the talent above. Poor Jack Johnson, LOL.
