  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 18, 2012 -> 11:04 PM) Heyward homered against Samardzija earlier in the year and got hit in the next AB. I'm not saying he did it on purpose but, makes you think. Anyway f*** Samardzija, he sucks. He didn't get hit in the next AB. The next AB he grounded out on a 3-0 pitch. The following AB, Samardzija hit him on the first pitch.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=0&sort=8,d He has the third most for a starting pitcher, with Mark Prior being second given FanGraphs' definition of qualified. I guess it depends on what you say is "qualified". If qualification means 1000 innings, then yeah, Wood is second. If it's 2000, he's not. Thank you Dusty Baker for ruining those arms & preventing a Cubs world championship.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) Honestly I had zero issue with how it went down today, I thought it was appropriate and fitting. The guy was a pretty good pitcher when healthy, injuries killed him, he was a fan favorite, and some good memories there. Having him take his last pitches and get his last time in the sun was fine. It wasn't something over the top like a pregame ceremony or anything. Average due to overall results, sure. But I heard something today that he has the highest k/9 besides Randy Johnson in history. Not sure if that's correct, but that's not average. We all know how it played out. But saying "average pitcher" is a bit false. Yeah, I didn't like it at first, but the more I thought about it, he did deserve it. That K/9 stat is incredible and he did pass up lots of money to stay in Chicago the last few years. It is pretty Cub-like though to honor a guy with 85 career wins who choked in the biggest game in Cubs history. Plus, the moment with his son coming out of the dugout was pretty awesome.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 18, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) My outside garbage bin smells like shrimp and vagina. Did you kill a Red Lobster waitress?
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) Any way you plot it, Vlad Guerrero he isn't. LOL, that's quite the standard. And Beckham isn't Ryne Sandberg, Morel isn't Mike Schmidt, Sale isn't Randy Johnson
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) Don't know if this was commented on, but Smardjia hit Heyward the next time up after he homered earlier this year. Make of that what you will. Actually, I checked the box score, it wasn't the next time Heyward came up. He hit a homer in the 2nd, grounded out on 4 pitches in the 4th, then got hit with the first pitch in the 7th. No idea what type of pitch it was or how it looked.
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 18, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) I wish I were Reed's agent. I wish I were Pujols' agent. That contract is guaranteed no matter how bad he is playing
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 18, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) I'm surprised more fly balls aren't dropped in Wrigley then, because of all the day games. I'm thinking most outfielders have no problem in their battles vs. the sun. Why Rios? The Angels had problems with the sun twice on Thursday
  9. Todd Hollandsworth was on the 2003 Marlins
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) Reed doesn't give a s***. He's got this. BAM! GAME OVER!
  11. f*** Rios loses it in the sun, hits his glove, Barney to 2nd f***
  12. Lalli first pitch swining, 6-3. Two out, barney up
  13. QUOTE (BFirebird @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Was this a joke or for reals? for reals
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) All for a hit-and-run here Would have been a double play...
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Awww, the W flag says KW. Kenny Williams
  16. so now they bring in the lefty to face Rios. What a joke. Do these people realize Wood only won 86 games in his career?
  17. Wood strikes out Tank, and they are taking him out and he is shaking everyone's hand. How Cubbie-like, Theo must be gagging
  18. QUOTE (kev211 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) No he didn't that wasn't a strike. Looked like a strike to me, but maybe it wasn't
  19. Samardzija got hosed on that 2-2 pitch, but leads to a Dunn walk, which is nice
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Stop watching that garbage broadcast. it's better than listening to Hawk IMO
  21. Campana tries to bunt and pops it up foul, three outs
