  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 06:16 AM) So if Viciedo doesn't turn into the next Ordonez (or better) will he be a disappointment? He already tied him with 12 career homers, so I'd say he will probably be better than his fellow countryman. Although Ordonez was much better defensively of course.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 17, 2012 -> 11:27 PM) I guess I'll say it because nobody else has or will...the Spurs are pretty f***ing good. 27-2 in their last 29 games dating back to the regular season. I can't even put into words what Popovich has done with that team. How he was able to balance trying to win games while at the same time getting a sufficient amount of rest for his key guys (i.e. benching Duncan for being old at times) to keep them healthy and fresh for the playoffs defies explanation. Duncan hasn't looked this good in years. Thunder/Spurs is going to be one f***ing awesome conference final. With the way the East is shaking out, it's basically gonna be the default NBA final.
  3. Sorry to interrupt the Kaner alcholism/sweathogging conversation, but an #8 seed is about the make the Finals and probably be the favorite, crazy stuff. The Kings look good, think they just major under acheived in the regular season. Even with all the upsets every year, no seed higher than a #5 has ever won the Cup.
  4. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 16, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) By far the best post in this thread in the last week.
  5. No matter the jersey, Jon Papelbon is a b****. Easily top 5 most hated players in the league
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Looks like Team USA is short big men for the Olympics. Maybe Andrew Bynum will be someone USA could look at. Roy Hibbert wants to join, but he has a contract with Team Jamaica. Meanwhile, JaVale McGee wants to join Team Philippines. Is Noah playing for France this year? I know they recently added Anthony Davis to the roster. Noah is playing for France.
  7. QUOTE (K-Rock @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) McCoy just got a 5 year deal for $45 million ($20 million guaranteed) from the Eagles. Would you do a similar deal with Forte if you were the Bears? From what I remember reading, I think Forte is looking for $20 as well, Bears are offering closer to $15. I don't know the intricacies of the Bears cap, but I'm sure there is a good reason for them to hold out on that $5 million, especially considering the current shelf life of running backs.
  8. QUOTE (kev211 @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Isn't that just because of the f***ed up schedule at staples this weekend? They have to fit 4 basketball games & one hockey game from Friday-Sunday. (Kings are already playing there tonight)
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) If the playoffs started tomorrow...no Red Sox, no Yankees. Nor the Angels, nor the Tigers, not the Phillies. I believe that's your top 5 payrolls.
  10. What do you give up for a Cubs World Series?
  11. 1 out. Bases empty for Sir Albert. I think the Sox unleashed the beast
  12. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 17, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) I have my doubts that they will realize this. They should have realized it last year when Atlanta was offering legit prospects for Carlos. Has this been confirmed yet? Soxtalk kept talking about all the prospects Atlanta was offering, yet I never heard of anyone else saying it or confirming it.
  13. Time for Alexei to get hot as the summer begins
  14. Dan Bernstein ‏@dan_bernstein Crain's reports Rahm "livid" with Ricketts family's "blatant hypocrisy," not returning their calls.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) Fister has given up 3 early runs for the Tiggers. M's leading the Indians 4-0 early, as well. Indians would be "only" 4 games over .500 if they lose that game, which is where we were 3 1/2 weeks ago. caulfield = King Jinx
  16. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 17, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) Caught Halladay against the Cubs last year only to watch him get lit up and leave early because of heat exhaustion. Got tickets for Phillies at Wrigley again a while back and it's going to be Doc again. Bummed that Thome won't be participating. Stats that make you go hmmmmmm: Roy Halladay - 1-5 in 6 career starts vs. the Cubs
  17. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 17, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Meh, I'll believe it when I see it with Washington. Even with Price and a legit running game, they weren't great last year. Admittedly ASU wasn't any better record wise, though they underachieved to their talent level. 5 of their 6 losses were @ Nebraska, @ Stanford, Oregon, @ USC & to the RG3 show. (@ OSU was bad) I'm not saying they are Rose Bowl bound, but it's not the 0-12 teams from a few years ago. And ASU lost to Illinois last year, how good could they be?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 17, 2012 -> 12:02 PM) Couple things: one, you have to subtract Thornton's bloated salary to be mediocre from what Youk makes. Two, what's the market for a 35-year old reliever with one pitch who hasn't been good since Jim Thome told him to "tell me how my ass tastes" in 2010. You're not getting anything back for Thornton prospect wise. I disagree, teams get desperate come July. All it takes is one team. See Capps for Ramos. Rasmus still sucks, but the Cards gave him up for EJax, Scrabble, & Dotel. That's more than Thornton obviously, but there can always be a trade out there. Any prospect still sounds better than a broken down old 3b for a team that is probably going nowhere. If anything, just trade Thornton for lesser prospect and get the salary relief.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) What? Did I miss something? Houston is moving to the AL, so each team will have 15 teams. Therefore, unless you gave a team 3 days off at a time, there will always need to be an interleague series going on.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 17, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) If the deal is Youkilis for Thornton I think everyone would make it. Thornton gets behind in the count, he has one pitch now, and it's a straight fastball that hitters sit on. Youkilis even bad would provide an upgrade in the lineup. But if the Sox indeed decide to sell off parts, they may be able to get a package of young players for Thornton, which would be better than adding Youk. Absolutely not. Why trade Thornton for an old expensive 3b on the decline with back problems? Trade him for prospects and save the money.
  21. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 17, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) Like most teams, the Illini play one BCS-level opponent, a couple of cupcakes, and maybe a decent non-power league team. The problem is that instead of a good Missouri team or a respectable ASU team, they have a home-and-home with Washington on the upcoming schedules. You need to read up on your Pac-10. Washington is a good football team now under Sarkisian and are definitely better than ASU
  22. Has anybody else been getting an exorbitant amount of phishing/spam e-mails recently? I always got the occasional one, but the last week my work e-mail has just been flooded with e-mails from Amazon, AT&T, Verizon, Citibank, etc.... All fake of course.
