  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) "Breaking up the team" might have been a reasonable response to how things went down last year... Except for the fact that Theo has left them in an absolute mess of a financial situation, and their ownership group won't tolerate a "multi year rebuilding" process. or fanbase
  2. The Penguins-Flyers series with yet another uneventful game.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Diamondbacks put Chris Young (and Geoff Blum) on the DL. That sucks for Young. He was beastin so far after tinkering with his swing in the offseason.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Her dementia will probably help her forget all of her illegal recruiting tactics. If illegal recruits win a championship but nobody watches, can the title even be vacated?
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) Dick Clark Great, that just means more Ryan Seacrest
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) Yeah but it was real high and that wind was at maybe 35-40 MPH. It was beig blown all ove the place. Remember he hit two doubles in that game. He can still do it I am betting. I was as disappointed as anyone last yer in Dunn and Rios but they are here and I am convinced they are professional driven players wanting hard to suceed Too high? What do you mean too high?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) Adam Jahns ‏ @adamjahns Brandon Saad is here and practicing #Blackhawks Saad-Toews-Kane FTW
  8. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) I work over there, the red, orange and green lines at Roosevelt are pretty close. Plus they have those express busses from Union/Ogilvie and the water taxi (which I work for) that can haul a good 750-1000 people. Even then, its a madhouse over there every Sunday, despite the fact that its a relatively easy place to get to. The walk from the field to the Roosevelt train lines is an absolute cluster f*** after every game.
  9. That 1st period was like the most intense atmosphere I've ever felt at the UC, I thought people were gonna charge the ice. Then the roof almost blew off when Kane scored. But for the rest of the game, it was much quieter, I think the Coyotes had something to do with that. It still just feels like they are playing way harder than the Hawks. Glad to see Hossa is doing better, but of course they still call it just an "upper body" injury. We have talked enough s*** about Shanahan, but I wouldn't be worried about him screwing up the Torres decision. Illegal hit, a history of suspensions, and Hoss went to the hospital. It's the perfect trifecta of circumstances.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Thinking completely off key, who out there would be interested in a Pedro Alvarez for Gordon Beckham deal? (This is just a theoretical, not a real item) Why the hell not, but I think Alvarez has been worse than Beckham so far.
  11. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) It baffles me that a guy like Beckham wouldn't go to a "professional hitter" like Konerko, who has such sound mechanics, and ask him for help. Then, if I were Gordon, I'd just scrap everything I was doing, and try to emmulate Paulie. I'd figure, "how could I go wrong with that approach?" Paulie is so fundamentally sound, in his approach. Why not? When you don't have the talent that the professional hitter has, the advice can only help so much.
  12. So much for all the Jerence Howard talk. He will be joining Larry Brown's staff down at SMU. Yes, that Larry Brown, age 71.
  13. Andrew Luck's first regular season NFL game will be at Soldier Field

  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) What's their job on a team? If a guy is getting paid $25 million to carry an offense/pitching staff on a contending team, there's not a lot of leeway, the guy better be Halladaying it. If a guy is a 25 year old on a rebuilding team, then my answer is completely different. Ding ding ding, we have a winner.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) I hope he goes to illinois. LOL. And then force him to transfer and only allow him to play in Alaska, Montana, or Idaho, Bo Ryan style. Karma is a b****.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) This is the whole problem. You have a guy actively trying to hurt someone getting a $2500 fine, and then this. It makes no sense. If you want to be tough, be tough. Don't pick and choose. That's why I said from now on. The Weber hit is history now, and that was before the playoffs spiraled into mayhem. If he becomes stricter now and lays his foot down with the Pens/Flyers series like he should, then I will be more understanding. But if Asham gets one game like Carkner (sp) did for pummeling a defenseless player, then he's just continuing the joke.
  18. I think Shaw is paying the penalty for Lucic's hit on Ryan Miller earlier this year. Now that the playoffs have gotten out of control, I just hope Shanahan stays consistent from now on. Arron Asham better get at least 3 games, if not more. I know he didn't touch a goalie, but he tried to decapitate Schenn via cross-check, then pummelled him in the head while laying on the ice.
  19. Darren Dreger ‏ @DarrenDreger Mike Smith is uninjured and will play tonight. Had he been hurt...Shaw would have been suspended rest of series. #TSN
  20. Here is the video: http://bit.ly/HQGGy8. So if Smith had been injured, what would the suspension have been, 7 playoff games? That's like 15-20 regular season games, WTF? Krush, you were right about the fact that it was a goalie mattering so much, Shanahan is making it sound like a QB in the NFL.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Committed Indians just reported 3 games for Shaw. I'd bet money that Smith plays tonight. Wow
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) Yeah, but there is no doubt Shaw is better than most rookies. Kid is pretty talented offensively. Yeah, he's the man, I'm not trying to shortchange what he brings to the team. But if Phoenix is really f***ing around, the NHL will be none too happy, and is it really worth it for one game less of Shaw?
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) They are trying to get Shaw suspended and then play Smith or Smith is out and they dont want the Shaw suspension to clue us in. Pretty stupid games really. Is it really worth all this effort and the risk of pissing off the NHL over a 3rd line rookie like Shaw? It's not like it's Toews or Keith that may not play.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) JDINAA IDKWTM
  25. Still nothing on Shaw, wonder if the Coyotes have something up their sleeve. Jesse Rogers ‏ @ESPNChiHawks Smith not available to media. Yotes say they notified the league, calling it "extreme" circumstances but would not confirm injury NHL regulations say all players have to be avail everyday except in "extreme circumstances" which is fine but he prac so how extreme? Tippett said Smith is gametime decision. But reiterated he was fine to finish game This is getting nuts...after like 10 questions about Smith...PR says "no more questions about smith today." conference ends.
