  1. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 07:57 AM) Hmmm.. within spitting distance of Chicago or mired in Champaign. Tough career choice. Look at where many of the top college basketball/football programs are located. Lawrence, Durham, Norman. Not exactly big glamorous cities. Switch to the pros if that's what matters.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 06:47 PM) Who's left (bold are the 12 I think will go in the next two weeks): Pitchers (16): Axelrod, Bruney, Crain, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Jones, Ohman, Peavy, Reed, Sale, Santiago, Septimo, Stewart, Stults, Thornton Catchers (4): Flowers, Gimenez, Phegley, Pierzynski Infielders (11): Beckham, Dunn, Escobar, Gallagher, Johnson, Konerko, McPherson, Morel, Olmedo, Ramirez, Saladino Outfielders (6): Danks, De Aza, Fukudome, Lillibridge, Rios, Viciedo Then who will be the backup 2b/ss/3b? I would assume Johnson doesn't make the team and a middle infielder takes that roster spot. Can Lillibridge still play the infield?
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 05:46 AM) WGM said that Northwestern will talk to Shaka as well and would be willing to replace Carmody with him. Drama in IL. What drama? I have a hard time believing NW wold offer more money than Illinois would, or that there is any reason he would chose NW over Illinois.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) Will the Bulls show interest in Fisher? He's a solid backup PG and given Rose's injury issues, it might make sense. Not sure what Thibb's thoughts are regarding Fish. I enjoyed Bill Simmons take on it: Bill Simmons ‏ @sportsguy33 Working against him: they've seen him play. MT @ESPNSteinLine: Source says Bulls are right at top of Derek Fisher's wish list.
  5. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) Didn't rip the Bears. Just saying the 49ers will beat the Bears. I'm sure they will be favored, the game is in San Fran. Although if it's earlier in the season & Colin is the QB, that definitely helps the Bears chances if he is still learning.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Glad to know the Bears are the determining factor in a Championship. Apparently the way to defend your own team's divisional chances is to rip on a team in a whole different division.
  7. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/2012/03/ins...lan-to-manning/ Interesting, everyone else seems to be hearing different things. I guess we will find out.
  8. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) Alex Smith said will be back in San Fran.. He has already said that he didn't mind being the backup plan. He loves Califorina... Peter King ‏ @SI_PeterKing Hearing Alex Smith is very serious about Miami--if they're serious about him.
  9. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) 2012 NFC North Champion Green Bay Packers Probably. I'd call them the favorites to win the whole NFC, and I don't think any Bears fans here have said differently even after the Marshall signing. I just think that switching to an unproven 2nd year QB will the hurt the 49ers more than you think. We gave Alex Smith a lot of s***, but at least he protected the ball and made smart decisions. It's hard for a youngster to do that right when he's thrown in the fire. Add that to the up and down nature of the NFL year to year, and I think it won't be as easy for the 49ers to repeat their 2011 success.
  10. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) They don't think they are, they are very confident in what Colin Kaepernick can do.... 2012 NFC West Champion Seattle Seahawks
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) Buster Olney ‏ @Buster_ESPN Jeff Samardzija has all but won a spot in the Cubs' rotation. Dempster Garza Maholm Samardzija Wood/Volstad/Wells That's not an awful rotation I guess.
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 10:55 AM) Jacksonville would be a good bet for Tebow. It makes so much sense for them from a business standpoint.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 09:39 AM) Let's blow up every state except Indiana. As long as their truly is more than corn there... It could be like the Hunger Games. Indiana will be the Capitol and everywhere else will be Districts in charge of producing everything Indiana needs to play basketball better than everyone else.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 08:36 AM) Eh. There were still a lot of great games. Lehigh stayed close. And still lost by double digits to a 10-seed. Norfolk State lost by 30+. Last year there was a 8-seed in the final, and it may have been the worst final in tourney history.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) They will regret wasting 3 years on him. 3 years of Matt Flynn >>>>>>> 3 seconds of Tarvaris Jackson
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 08:20 AM) Ten of the Sweet Sixteen schools are within 200 miles of Indiana. Seven of them are within 100 miles. Four are within 30 miles. And only one of them is located in the state of Indiana. Ohio, North Carolina, Wisconsin, & Kentucky all have more teams left than Indiana.
  17. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 18, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) while the Norfolk St win was fun for a day, it basically ruins the next game they play in. We couldve seen a fun Missouri-Florida game. Totally, as much fun as early round upsets are, it's definitely better if those teams get weeded out as the tourney goes on. It makes for much better basketball when the Final Four is mostly high seeds.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 18, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) randy moss, vernon davis, mario manningham, and michael crabtree are great targets - maybe not a true #1 in there anymore, but thats as good of targets as hes going to find for a team that doesn't have a true #1 receiver. hell even kyle williams is a decent option In Randy Moss' last season, he gave up on 3 teams and put up a staggering stat line of 28 catches for 393 yards. He's 35, not 25. And Crabtree's no show in the playoffs wouldn't have me very confident in him.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) I wouldn't say great, but good enough to be a valuable pitcher. The thought that he'll go to the NL and win 17-20 games because it's an easier league, I just don't buy it. The NL East is a pretty good hitting division, plus the Marlins interleague schedule is tough...6 with Boston, 6 with Tampa Bay, 3 with Toronto, 3 with Cleveland. It's going to be about the same. 30-32 starts. 200-210 innings. 19-22 quality starts. And he'll come away with 13-15 wins, while the Marlins finish 80-82. Valuable, but not $13.5 mil per season valuable.
  20. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) I can only imagine. Did you see the Lehigh cheerleaders? Let's just say... not good. LOL. I noticed that too.
  21. The Hawks would be better suited staying in 4th place in the division & 6th in the conference. Nashville & Detroit would have to face each other in the playoffs, while the Hawks would get the winner of DAL/SJ/LA/PHX. That's a much better match up than any Central Division rival.
  22. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Mar 17, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) Manningham signs two year deal with Niners, how can Peyton turn them down... Because SF still doesn't have a #1 receiver? Alex Smith meets with the Dolphins, SF better make a move on someone before they end up with no QB
  23. Wow, Creighton got away with an absolute blatant foul on the last second shot by Bama. Another shining moment for the men in stripes.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Don't the Yankees have an abundance of starters? Why the hell do they need a 40 year old? They already have two other 40-year old who may break down and you can never trust Phil Hughes. Right now they have CC, Kuroda, Nova, Pineda, Hughes, Freddy, & Pettite
