  1. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) Not a big surprise to me. UConn is getting picks because of their name and winning it all last year. Most 8/9 games are going to be close and competitive and Vegas will set the number accordingly. My guess is that the play in Vegas is much closer to 50/50 or the line would be moving. People are already talking about a Kentucky/UConn matchup simply because of last season. WTF? Kentucky is better than any team in last year's tourney and Kemba Walker is in the NBA. Not to mention the fact that UConn needs to beat ISU first.
  2. Thanks for 2004-2005 Bruce. First the recruiting was the problem, then it was the recruits not playing up to their talent levelm either way it wasn't meant to be. His highest seeded team after Dee left may have been his least talented team which is kind of telling. Go Wichita State! I want VCU out and Shaka Smart headed to Champaign tonight. No guarantee it works out with him, but he is the best realistic option out there.
  3. I know I'm super late to the party, but I watched seasons 1 & 2 of Weeds this week while travelling. That's a damn entertaining show, looking forward to watching more.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) i know - i started reading Hunger Games like a week or so ago and i'm already on the third book. lol I hear ya. I read the Hunger Games in about 4-5 hours yesterday flying home. My wife finished the 2nd one with 40 minutes left in the flight, and I read through about 90 pages before landing. I'm sure that will be done soon and will ready for the third book too.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Then win your division. OK, I will win 100 games and win my division. Then my ace has a bad start, and an opposing hitter gets hot and a 82-win wild card team knocks me out of the playoffs. That sucks IMO. (If the playoffs are expanded further than they are now as ss2k5 said.)
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) This is only the first step towards continued expansion of the playoffs. We'll see more teams and more rounds, I am sure. Which just sounds awful, considering the randomness of baseball in small sample sizes.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 08:06 AM) I just wish the Hawks had at least half their grit. That's gonna be one dangerous team in the playoffs. They have 12 shutouts on the season. Hawks have zero of course.
  8. Vacation to Madrid & Rome starts today...
  9. Only if a white rabbit is around
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Tonight sucked. I hate the Blues. Bunch of goons. TJ Oshie is #1 on my Blues hate list. 4 points on that 3-game road trip is still solid, especially playing without the captain. I saw a stat that the Hawks have never beaten STL & DET on the same road trip, although that has only occurred 9 times.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 07:12 AM) I wonder if the NFL would consider this serious enough to take the unprecedented step of 'Calipari'ing the Saints and vacating their wins during that period. God I hope not. The whole idea of vacating wins is still comical to me. It's not like you can erase all memories or all video of that Super Bowl being played. Saints won, end of story.
  12. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) I want Adam Dunn to sprint when he walks or hits a HR. Show some appreciation for the game. I just want Adam Dunn to hit a HR. I don't care if he runs, walks, skips, or crawls around the bases, just hit the ball over the damn fence 30+ times this season.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) Stupid penalties I agree with. At the very least, Garcon and Johnson are equally bad at dropping balls but I'd argue that Garcon is worse. Looking at drops doesn't do a lot because they both had 4 drops in 134 targets last year according to STATS Inc, but Johnson caught more balls thrown his way and had a better 1st down percentage on his catches. I realize that Garcon had worse QBs throwing to him this year, but he also had Reggie Wayne on the other side, Austin Collie in the slot, and something resembling Dallas Clark at TE for 2/3 of the season. Stevie Johnson's other receivers were David Nelson, Scott Chandler, and Donald Jones (along with a hodgepodge of "who the f***" and "he hasn't played in years.") Stevie Johnson is a far superior receiver to Pierre Garcon. As they say, the numbers don't lie, but the times I have watched Johnson, I've seen him leave several big plays on the field, which doesn't leave me very confident in him. There was that OT drop vs the Steelers, and another game late his past season where he missed a few big plays late that could have led the Bills to the victory.
  14. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) I know this doesn't really have an answer, SABR stats being born of the internet where everyone is wrong except you, but is there one defining SABR stat for Pitchers and Hitters that should tell you how good a player is? Like is there a consensus for both? I'm trying to get more into them, but at the same time it gives me a headache and I have nightmares of Math class... WAR? Wins above replacement. 15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) The west loop is two miles from the UC. There is nothing over there on the west side. Excuse me for mixing up my neighborhood definitions. There are more and more places popping up in between the UC & the West Loop, but most are several blocks away from the stadium, unlike in Indy.
  16. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) As an aside, I have been to the BTT in Indy and in Chicago, and I'm an Illinois fan, and Indy puts on a better overall event than Chicago. The BTT is THE event in Indy that weekend while it's just another event in Chicago. Chicago probably has better attendance figures (greater alumni base for all the schools), but Indy puts on a great event. The relative location is regards to the rest of the city is a huge advantage for Indy. The fieldhouse is downtown within walking distance of hotels & other attractions. There are no hotels that you can walk to from the UC, and although more stuff keeps popping up in the West Loop, they are still blocks away from the stadium.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) They both have the same chance at being a decent major leaguer. Ha. Good to know, I won't bother to look up any info on him.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) Omgrosso getting hammered now. 3 hits and a walk with no outs. 2 runs in so far. Is that the chick from the Apprentice?
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Report: Private ‘Booster’ Contributed To Bounty Fund Whoa, that's a tad bit worse IMO. It's one thing to have the coaches/players encourage injuries, but to have an outsider, not to mention a felon.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Which means IU is essentially getting home games. which is why they were my "upset" pick to make it all the way to Sunday
  21. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Joe Paterno gets fired but somehow Sean Payton is going to keep his job. What a weird world. Because Gregg Williams is obviously a far worse person than Jerry Sandusky.
