  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) Agreed on all three, I think NU is headed for the NIT. Barring a run in the Big Ten tourney, I concur. So many close losses too, what a bummer. I was hoping to get the chance to root for NU in the tourney, since the only exciting thing about the Illini is the hunt for next year's head coach.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 08:45 AM) I appreciate Todd Ritchie because he was a primary contributor to the most significant baseball record I've ever witnessed in person. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores...id=200207020CHA What am I missing? edit: Just noticed how many home runs were hit. Nice work Todd.
  3. Todd Ritchie. I hated that trade from day one and his performance in Chicago only compounded that feeling.
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 01:57 AM) Yeah, if the Italian forwards timed their runs better it could have been 3 or 4 to 1 for them. That said, the US d deserves some credit for drawing the offsides. It's not really a big win though. It's just a friendly. For all the people that overreacted to the earlier losses, they shouldn't be overreacting to this win either. First win in 11 tries vs. Italy & on the road? I don't care if it's a friendly, it's still a pretty big victory.
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) He's done. Bears will sign him. If that happens, I may refuse to pay my season ticket invoice this year, cause it would mean absolutely nothing has changed with the new GM.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) No, just Braun. I'm still more bothered by the shirts than the steroids.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Dude, they've been doing some sort of cheap ass food giveaway as long as I can remember if the Bulls win and score over 100 points. It used to be for free tacos. Last year Scalabrine missed a 3 that would have put the Bulls at 100 and publicly apologized (jokingly) and then bought Big Macs for fans the next day at a local McDonald's. I find it unacceptable that you would not know these things. Didn't it use to be 125 points for free Taco Bell? Back when every team would average 100+ points a game.
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) The best time to be a fan is when the team is about to be (possibly) really good. If we're at that point at the end of the year... no matter the record, that's a huge step forward. Then Royals fans must have had the time of their lives for the past few seasons. I would have to disagree and say the best time to be a fan is when your team is really good, like October 2005.
  9. Mike Stanton now wishes to be called Giancarlo Stanton. (His real name is Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton)
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Adam Jahns ‏ @adamjahns Nothing new on Jonathan Toews. He won't play vs. Toronto. It doesn't sound too good. #Blackhawks Now I'm starting to get worried. Three teams tied for 8th, only 3 points back of the Hawks.
  11. Sox expect to sell Big Hurt Beer at games
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) Saw this on another board If true JR really is being greedy. New city tax is only on parking in the "Central Business District" which I believe is bounded by North Ave., Halsted, Roosevelt Rd., and the lake. However far south it goes, Bridgeport is definitely not in those boundaries That is incorrect
  13. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Goddamn IU is unbeatable in that arena. Wow. http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=320120084
  14. Wow, the Preds are really going for it. As much as Pekka Rinne annoys me with his domination, I would enjoy seeing Nashville win it all. (Plus, we will always have game 5 of the 2010 Western Quarter Finals)
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) I don't mind Hawk being a homer, it's one of his good qualities. I do mind that he's a grumpy, insufferable bully that goes out of his way to talk over his broadcast partner. He hasn't had an original thought in years. I don't care about Yaz or Frank Howard. I don't care to hear "get on back there" and "stretch" for balls that aren't going to get to the warning track. I can see it from my couch. Well said. Hawk doesn't suck because he's a homer, he sucks because he's old & senile and contributes very little to the baseball watching experience. This ranking is a bit of an insult to Steve Stone, who I think is a great analyst.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) That seems steep, especially for a guy coming off an .800 OPS season. Yeah, the Nationals are paying $100 million each to him & Jayson Werth. Lucky for them they got the #1 pick in the two best years possible consecutively.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) I abhor Stan Bowman. He has been awful since taking over. He did have a tough assignment having to break up the Cup winners, but the only good move he has made IMO has been Mayers, and that is just a 4th liner making under a million. I supported the Frolik move, but man he sucks balls. He is just surviving off the top talent but has given them no help at all.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) Forgive my ignorance, but why the f*** are Somali pirates such a problem? Why aren't we just having the Navy sink them left and right? In waters that large & open, it's not that easy when they are in tiny motorboats. And you can't attack their homebase, as dangerous as it is.
  19. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) I'll just give an example from a few years ago. They were announcing the nominees for Best Short Film (or Best Foreign Short if that even exists, just one of those categories nobody cares about). I knew nothing about any of them two seconds before, but they gave a quick synopsis of each movie as they announced them as nominees. As soon as the one was listed as some person's experience during the Holocaust, I turned to the people I was with and said "that's gonna win." It did. I agree. I feel like so many awards are won just for the role, not for the acting. Put a lot of other actors in some of those roles, and they would just as easily win the Oscar.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 10:45 PM) Obviously with Rose you're sharing that with like a million other people, but that probably never stopped anyone from buying Jordan's jersey. Sale is a nice pick...I like that....I bought my Danks jersey before he ever pitched for us and it's been pretty cool having that throughout his entire mlb career with us...especially the first year when people still didn't really know who he was. I concur. Sale all the way
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Why is there 31?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) If I can take that $25 and apply it towards $40 of food/beverages, great. Instead of showing up to the park at gametime, you have to spend an extra hour or two somewhere before the game where you will probably spend more than the $25 parking cost anyway. Not only do you spend more than $25, but you also have to invest an extra hour or two than originally planned.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) Go to Shinnick's or any other bar or restaurant in the area and you can park on the street for free. Just ask them for a parking pass, or you can go to Schallers park in their lot and eat and drink before the game and save a few bucks in addition to the parking fee. What good is saving money on parking if you are forced to just spend the same money plus some at a bar/restaurant?
  24. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) I think I'd retire given all he has gone through. Forget that. Spring 2014, he convinces a team he can still throw 90+, they gave him 400k, easy money. Its their problem when his arm falls off a week later. I just love that "experts" called Zumaya a good signing, as if he might stay healthy.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) No one got on Konerko or Buehrle when they had their awful years Very true, and I think Dunn deserves the benefit of the doubt to change his workout. But PK and Mark never had the worst season in MLB history like Dunn did, so some of the criticism is well deserved.
