  1. The cap hit on Kane & Miller are about the same. Miller becomes an UFA in 2014, Kane in 2015. It would be nice to have a brick wall in net, but I still can't see that being a good deal. Kaner is too damn skilled. He can be frustrating but he is only 23. Plus, I've seen other goalies move to other towns and suddenly not play as well (Bryzgalov), then what?
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 12:54 AM) William McKinley was assassinated in 1901 - less than 100 years before Kennedy. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:14 AM) LittleHurt05 was saying that Kennedy was the only president to be assassinated during the past 100 years. Between 1912 and 2012 Kennedy was the only one assassinated. McKinley was assassinated before then. Thanks Don!
  3. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 06:12 AM) I think MSU can make a big run. So physical and just a real close team. Also, sounds like Barlow and maybe Byrd of Purdue were arrested last night. Didn't Barlow get suspended for causing trouble last year?
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) So anybody hear about the fire in Wadsworth today? Ya that was my house, cats dead, stuff gone, house gone. Life blows That's awful man, sorry to hear that. Best wishes to ya.
  5. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Celtics can't beat a team missing 2 starters including 1 being far and away the best player on the team, has to be rough knowing your team is old and has no shot in the playoffs. Besides Rondo that team has nothing on it building towards a better future too. Did you see the game on Sunday?
  6. Stars D Nicklas Grossman traded to the Flyers for a 2012 2nd, 2013 3rd. Hawks were in on him but Dallas demanded Brandon Saad and Hawks said no.
  7. Duke Silver = top notch saxophone player
  8. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Does Dealey Plaza count? That is such a different situation. That's where the POTUS was assassinated (one of 4, and only one in 100 yrs). That location has such historical insignificance. Not where some "celebrity" actor took too many happy pills. Visitng a site like that is just goofy IMO.
  9. 3 of those early goals were breakaways, but I wonder how many of those Lundqvist stops. Either way, it's about time the Hawks caught a break, figure it comes against the top team in the East.
  10. Holy crap. That might be the cutest puppy I have ever seen.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) The All-Linsanity Mailbag Delicious. It's interesting looking back at the whole LeBron to NY thing. With their recent history, LeBron winning there would make him a god, yet he chose Miami where no one cares and it's already Wade's town. The Linsanity is showing how much they can get into basketball. (I don't think I realized how truly bad the Knicks have been. In the past 10 seasons, they have two playoff apps & ZERO playoff games won)
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Chris Kuc @ChrisKuc NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says Chicago "is on the radar" for a future NHL All-Star Game. That's funny to see just a few days after Reinsdorf said he absolutely didn't want a NBA All-Star Game at the UC. Don't think I'd have much interest to attend the actual game on Sunday, but the Saturday hockey skills competition could be entertaining to see live.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) That, for sure. A lot of models seem grossly skinny when they're not airbrushed. A girl like Upton is the real deal. I've known girls personally that lost a lot of weight (when you wouldn't have considered them even chubby), and they lose a ton of their appeal to me. I'm sure that fact is killing them. I agree with you. Not that I watch any modeling shows, but when they happen to show some girls on the runaway, plenty of times I don't find them attractive at all. They are 6 feet tall weighing 80 pounds with no curves to them whatsoever. No thanks.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) There is a 0% chance Leonard comes back, unfortunately. I had held out hope he would come back until I read that ESPN piece on his family situation. If he is guaranteed to go 1st round, I absolutely would expect him to go pro and not think twice.
  15. The Rangers are having some mercy on the Hawks, Lundqvist to get the day off, although Biron is no slouch.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) Sean Miller recruited extremely well right off the bat at Arizona, Self's second class at Illinois was fantastic, Crean's second class at Indiana was very good, Matta's second class had Oden, Conley, Cook. Hell, Zook recruited really well right off the bat for Illinois and that was with what was a garbage football program. You are drastically overstating how difficult it is to fix recruiting. If you are a good recruiter you will be successful at it right away. And the thing is with basketball, it's you like need an entire class of 5-stars. if you can just get one or two outstanding players, that already makes your team so much better
  17. Gotta love the geniuses on Twitter: Andy Glockner @AndyGlockner Ummmm, no. RT @socialmiscondct: @AndyGlockner is bruce pearl hireable for illinois if they wait one more year to get rid of their coach? On the list of "Hires that won't happen," Bruce Pearl to Illinois may only be behind "Dave Bliss back to Baylor." Maybe.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) Agreed. Let McClain show is coaching expertise (none). In all seriousness though, the whole thing is just sad. The guy never had a chance with the fan base. No one wanted him, even when he succeeded beyond what Kruger and Self were able to do (the whole line about Self's recruits is bulls***. He coached that team up from borderline good to great). He probably should have been fired a few seasons ago to save the embarrassment both of him and the program. Or at the very least they should have told him take that job at Oklahoma last year, or wherever else he got a job offer (wasn't Oregon one a few seasons back?). Losing to teams like Penn State and Northwestern year in and year out is just not acceptable. The fact that he's been on the hotseat for a few years - you just can't coach that way, as he admitted last night. Too much pressure because every loss gets you that much closer to losing all support. So instead of losing early to win later, he wanted to do everything he could to win in the present. And you could see that with his refusal to play younger guys because they make mistakes, so instead he plays guys like Sam who won't turn the ball over, but probably won't be good enough to win either. He needs a fresh start, as does the program itself. I still see a gigantic problem with expectations though. All those highly ranked recruits the next few years? Most are Weber guys, including any chance they had with Parker (who according to Klee, is still very interested in Illinois). So the program is back to being stuck in a recruiting rut, no matter who they bring in. When the new coach fails to land big recruits in his first season or two, get ready for the same boo birds that were all over Weber for not being able to land anyone. f***ing sucks, the whole thing. I get your point here, but after 2005 he could have easily gotten the fanbase on his side. But then he recruited awfully following the NC game and within 3 years was losing at home to Miami-Ohio & Tennesse State.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 08:40 AM) Yes. They should be banned from America too, they aren't contributing anything to MLB anymore.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) The worst goaltending tandem in hockey. Give them some credit, Tampa has been worse. I know the defense hasn't done Emery/Crawford any favors recently, but once in a while it would be nice to get some big saves, which they haven't done at all.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) Sox fans, at least on this board, are very understanding when it comes to saving money. I could give a s*** about Jerry saving money. Spent some f***ing money and give me a winner!! (I don't count $$ to Rios/Dunn/Peavy; that's their own fault they are wasting those greenbacks). So they spend over $100 million on 3 players who were All-Stars, but that doesn't count as spending money?
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) This is the main reason he should be fired tomorrow and not after the season. He is a beaten man. Just end it now, let the assistants take over and maybe they actually play the freshmen more, the players play loose, make the NCAA tourney and maybe even win a game or two. I was firmly in the camp that thought Thomas should let him coach out the season. But after hearing about that press conference last night, how do you let him stick around? How are the players gonna feel to be around him? You know it's bad when the Score spends a huge chunk of time in the morning talking Illini basketball.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 08:31 PM) So how many teams is the B1G getting in the tournament? Six. Maybe 7 if Minnesota can beat MSU or sweep IU.
  24. I hear what you guys are saying. I guess I'm just waiting to see how the final 25 games play out before I call it the ultimate collapse.
