  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) I hope we have seen his final game with the Hawks. Thankfully I guarantee we have. didn't like the signing from day one. He made a couple nice plays in his first two games, but then he started playing like Daniel Carcillo again, and good riddance.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) In other words, there's no chance. But Theo, Hoyer, etc, have been consistent in saying they want to rebuild this thing from the ground-up. They're not looking at '12 or '13 as years in which they can legitimately contend. It will be interesting to see how the fans react attendance wise. Despite what the "official" numbers might say, the Cubs had a huge drop in attendace last year. I've seen that many empty seats in while, even weekend or Cards games. I know most Cubs fans are excited for TheoVision, but fact is the team probably won't compete the next few years, and there will be several players that most fans have never heard of, which is not the best way to bring the casual fan. Obviously they will out-draw the Sox, but I'm talking about compared to the last few years where single game tickets would sell out in February.
  3. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) You go to any sports message board and there will be b****ing about refs. My Texas Rangers/Mavericks fan is always b****ing about them nonstop too, thinks the world is out to get Texas sports teams. Granted, the refs did cost the Mavericks the 2006 NBA Finals
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) St Louis can be a fun town, it isnt as bad as people make it out to be. The problem is the residents think it is as good as if not better than Chicago, which is wrong Yeah, I think most of my St. Louis bashing comes from the southern Illinois people I met in college who seemed to think the world revolved around the city. I actually had my bachelor party there (Hawks/Blues game) and hit up Mardi Gras a few times, good times were definitely had.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Yes. She works for Comcastsportsnet, and does a lot of post/pre-game stuff. Did they ever convict her Dad of killing her mom? It seems like those cases just go away a few weeks after the murder occurs.
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) @SI_PeterKing Peter King Jeff Fisher has chosen the Rams over the Dolphins. Other than having to live in St. Louis, it seemed like a pretty easy choice.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 08:03 AM) So he's been under bright lights, no sleep, for 12+ hours? With the occasional break for some water-boarding
  8. After last year's playoffs, it's surprising that Ben Smith hasn't been able to secure a spot on the roster. He's gonna be the odd man out again once Kruger comes back, but the other youngsters have been playing better.
  9. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre combined aren't half as embarassing as the Jason Schmidt signing. Were there signs that Schmidt was gonna suddenly get injured? He was 34 and decreased a bit from his peak, but he was still an All-Star in 2006. When the signing happened, I don't think they could have predicted he would only pitch 42 innings at a 6 ERA clip in 3 years.
  10. Dan Bernstein @dan_bernstein WBBM Newsradio reports Starlin Castro still being interviewed by police. They began questioning him last night.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) How about the lift Shaw and Hayes have given the Hawks? Incredible depth they have even in the system. There were some rumblings on twitter the other day that people think Keven Hayes is even better, and more ready now, than Jimmy is. And he plays center. I can't wait until Kruger comes back. Shaw was just a 5th round pick in this years draft, amazing.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) Indianas lack of talent finally caught up to them When your 3-point % is .025 higher than any other team in the country, s***'s gotta hit the fan at some point.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) Yes, it has nothing to do with having the 6th most points amongst Western Conference wingers, and 10th most points amongst Western Conference players. Sure, you need 8 wingers and 12 forwards to fill out a normal roster, but it's only because idiots know who Patrick Kane is... Good call. Methinks Chicagoland is becoming hockey spoiled. It may have been a bit of an overstatement, but they chose 24 forwards and he is T-23rd in points in the NHL and only has 10 goals, so it's not like he's tore it up this season. There may be a few players that have had better seasons, that didn't beat him out due to name recognition. Although, Ovechkin made it and he is way less deserving than Kaner. Either way, it's just the All-Star game, who cares.
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) No, not really..... https://twitter.com/#!/TimSassone/statu...515266262188032 Reports have changed... Kane gets in there every year simply to have a "name" player that people that don't follow hockey recognize.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) Littlehurt, As for Wade/LBJ, Wade (imo) has been the worst influence on Lebron. Its so telling that Rose dresses even when he doesnt play, as compared to Wade wearing his 50 year old man suits on the bench not even caring about whether he plays. I get your point regarding that. I think Wade does have some serious injuries, but he definitely could play more often than he does. I was more referring to his late game hustle and take-over mentality. In the 4th quarter of a big game, Wade will drive to the hoop aiming at the big guys, no concern for his body & injury to get the victory. Like he did in the 06 Finals (with the refs' help)
  16. LSU played @ Alabama last night. When LSU crossed center court on the opening possession, the crowd gave them an ovation.
  17. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) If LBJ had what Kobe and Michael have, the rest of the league would be playing for 2nd place. If LBJ even just had what Wade has, I think the rest of the league would be playing for 2nd place.
  18. Maybe it's not just ESPN. NFL.com now has a slideshow showing what the children would look like if Lord Tebow married X celebrity.
  19. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 10:06 AM) i think dumpster exercised an option. I see that he did. He's two years older & not as good as Mark, but I'm sure he could have gotten a decent contract with 4 straight 200+ IP seasons.
  20. Brad Biggs was on the Score this morning discussing the candidates. Basically, they all have an extensive background in player personnel & scouting, mainly college. Sounds like they are trying to zero on somebody who won't screw up draft picks, which is obviously the biggest fault of Angelo.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Are Bob and Len playing their annual gig at the HOB tonight? cub marketing has removed castro from their 2012 campaign. The recognizable face of the cubs right now is ryan dempster and that is about it unless wood comes back. They could be two of the biggest losers in baseball. Seeing what MB got in free agency is there any doubt dempster would have gotten a comparable deal? Once a lovable loser always a lovable loser. On CSN last night they were touting how all of the cub moves have now created a glut of starting pitching which will be the cubs strength this year. Dempster wasn't a free agent, and he basically makes the same amount of money as MB signed for. Anyway, Theo is the face of the franchise now, don't kid yourself. The Tribune had a whole spread on the sports page cover yesterday about the Cubs new rotation and how deep it is too. No rotation with Randy Wells in a spot should be praised as "deep".
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 08:14 AM) Just so you know ESPN is doing an hour long show on Tim Tebow at 11am. Also tomorrow night NFL Network will have "Tebow Time" another hour long special. That's at 7pm. For all you Tebow fanatics. As long as I avoid ESPN, I don't mind Tebow. It's actually all pretty funny to watch. (except for the Bears game up there) It's when I catch a TV at the gym with SportsCenter showing him as a comic book character, that's when he needs to go away. Anybody in Chicago been listening to Boers & Bernstein the last few days? Their imitation & comparsion of him to a ten-year old has been pretty comical. Although, the hatred both of them have for him is part of what makes it funny.
