QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Horrendous gameplan by LSU on offense tonight. No doubt. Saban >>>>> Miles in that game -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) well to be fair, McCarron is young and playing the second best defense in the country. Jefferson has always sucked. He did have a decent game, although he missed a few throws that could have clinched it early. Just amazes me these teams can recruit NFL-quality D-lines, yet they miss so badly on QBs and kickers. -
Should the Sox consider Dunn for Soriano?

Breaking that player's leg was the only good thing Jefferson has done all game. He really needs to get benched. -

the Honey Badger looks like Ike Taylor out there, they just keep throwing at him -
QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) That blowhard Kaplan just said Cubs and Tigers getting close to a deal on Garza. Garza to Detroit and Turner to the north side? That would suck.

McCarron is playing decent so far, but for the two best teams in the country, they sure have some s***ty quarterbacks. -

I kind of hope LSU destroys Bama so that everyone complains that OK St. or Stanford should have gotten a chance instead. Or Alabama wins a close one & the AP voters still vote LSU #1. #CHAOS -
Congrats to Barry Larkin, Hall of Fame 2012

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) I think he made alot of writers and baseball people angry whenhe admitted to changing the way he played due to the cocaine. ie. not sliding going into second because he had a vial of cocaine in his pocket. I think he deserves it so this is the only reason I can think of. Well what do they expect? Cocaine's not cheap. -

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) Does he have the same connection to steroids as the rest of them? I honestly don't remember. I don't think he has ever been linked. But according to the eye test, he seems to be one of the most obvious ones IMO. -

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) I feel like Piazza is the most deserving of the 2013 class, am I wrong? How is he more deserving than the other juicers? -

Personally I think Bonds is the most deserving and really hope he gets in. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Strange that I can openly admit that Schilling is, by far, the most deserving of the 2013 class. I hate him. And why would anyone even mention Royce Clayton? Outstanding defense. Golden Globe quality acting. Why wouldn't you mention him? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Totally true, and I'm still in the camp that the thing the Broncos need to do next year is to try to bring in guys who can help him with his weaknesses. I think that they're nuts if they don't throw their checkbook at Wes Welker. Welker is great, but he can't catch it if it's 7 feet over his head and 5 feet to his right. The only player that could help Tebow with his weaknesses might be Calvin Johnson. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) And this 6 game stretch is pretty much the only legit bit people have to evaluate him on, and the usual rule of thumb is that it takes minimum 16-32 games of consistent playing time for a QB to really start to develop in terms of reading a defense and managing an offense. I'm not surprised people would like to see what he has to offer either, if a team doesn't have much at the QB slot. So that's why Caleb Hanie struggled so much in that small 4-game stretch. It's not that he is bad at football, he just needs consistent playing time to develop into a good QB. I'm sure someone will give him that chance. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) He's played 14 games in his career. In both 2008 and 2009, he was given 3 games where he had a solid first game but then struggled, and was sent to the bench after 2 poor performances. The Browns won one of those games in 2008 in spite of him, but they benched him anyway. Then he started 6 straight games late in 2009. One very outstanding game vs a bad Lions team, and another decent game, but then let's look at the other 4 games. 13-31, 99 yds, 2 INTs, 0 TDs 15-34, 100 yds, 0 TDs 6-19, 90 yds, 0 TDs 10-17, 66 yds, 0 TDs, 2 INTs Bad. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) So why did the #3 QB get the call over the #2 QB? There are still people in this thread who have written that they'd like to see what Brady Quinn has. Because Brady Quinn is bad at football? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) No one said a darn thing about it being a conspiracy. The Broncos made a very risky decision to jump their 3rd string QB ahead of their 2nd string QB because that QB was a first round pick...and that QB was a first round pick in no small part because of his dedicated folloiwng. There doesn't have to be some evil cabal for people to make moves based on money. The real genius here continues to be Fox, who realized he needed to completely scrap his passing game until he could give that QB enough reps in practice to be adequate. But frankly, I find it hard to believe that if Caleb Hanie came in and gave the Bears the same performance Tebow did in his first couple games, the Bears would have stuck with him, even if the team was winning games. Hanie was forced into the role on a playoff contender because the starter got hurt. They really didn't have any other options. He probably played just as bad as Tebow if not worse. But if the Bears had won a few of those games, they would have stuck with him until Jay got healthy. The Broncos were going nowhere with a journeyman starting, so they gave their 1st round pick an opportunity. The team started winning games, so they stuck with him despite his struggles. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Damn adamjahns Adam Jahns Patrick Sharp will be out 3-4 weeks with upper body injury. #Blackhawks f***! It happened on the goal he scored, I think it may have something to do with the slashes on the wrist he got from Hudler.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) Not sure if you read Jayson Stark's column about who he voted for...but it's a good read...especially about Bagwell and Edgar Martinez. Good read, thanks. I actually agree with his stance on the steroid players. The PEDs were so prevalent in that era, how do you pick & choose which players should get in & which shouldn't. It's a good point that likely one day a player who was elected "clean" will end up coming out or be busted for having been a cheater. -
HOF announcement at 2:00 Central time today. Sounds like Barry Larkin will probably be elected, not sure about anyone else. I'm still surprised that Tim Raines is having so much difficulty getting in. Also, Bagwell got 41.7% of the vote last year. I think his numbers are good enough, but he is a good example of a guy from the steroid era who was never connected or mentioned with them, but his size makes you wonder.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) I think the Falcons need to work on those 4th and 1 in the off season. Maybe they should line up their "power" running back in the backfield to make the defense think about the possibilty of a handoff, instead of making it so obvious that the sneak is coming.
