  1. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 11:27 PM) Good job, officials. "The Rare Basketball Powerplay" Western Kentucky's coach has been fired. Everybody covered their man, how do you not notice there is an extra guy just hanging out? The funny part is that the guy with ball never even thought about passing.
  2. Patriots OC Bill O'Brien set to be named new PSU coach. Some of the ex-players are extremely upset that they didn't hire a PSU alum, but some of their comments are mind-boggling. That family let a child rapist repeatedly use the campus as his dungeon, and so many people refused to stop him. WTF? I know these players may have known nothing, but what do they expect? Those people that taught you those "values" were letting their friends ignore them and do unspeakable things to children. Come on now.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) I started to write something to that effect, but took it out. I agree with that though. President=GM and GM=Asst GM in the Cubs universe right now That makes sense. I guess I just think Theo should have named himself President & GM, but I guess giving Hoyer the official GM title is a way to hook his friend up.
  4. Is there another franchise in MLB where the GM is as powerless & non-existent as on the north side? Yesterday on CSN the reporter said "Theo Epstein traded Zambrano to Miami. We got him on the phone to ask him about his move." Isn't that the GM's job, not the presidents? I haven't read about a move yet this winter that has included Hoyer's name, every move has been made by Theo.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 07:59 AM) Cardinals Pitching Coach Dave Duncan is stepping down to deal with family issues, his wife has cancer. That could hurt the Cardinals as much as losing Pujols did, if not more.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 05:01 AM) I mean, it's not that much different then when you take like a monstyer s*** after eating taco bell or white castles or if you takes laxatives. you know thiose s***s that hurt? like a lot. like tyhis big log that came out your ass. nobody offers up congrats after your ass is bleeding. Since when do you eat Taco Bell and have your s*** come out solid???
  7. Shaw is an assist away from a Gordie Howe in his 1st Nhl game. But after he scored, this game got ugly, WTF
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) You can never have enough relievers. If they do get Thornton though, that would be one hell of a bullpen. Santos, Thornton, Oliver, Frasor, Janssen, Camp, and Litsch (if he doesn't start). 3 of the top 4 relievers in that hell of a bullpen were White Sox in 2011
  9. 3 minutes in and the rookies are making themselves known. Hayes with another goal, Shaw fights at the very next faceoff.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 05:09 PM) always slacking on bobble heads. Those are the only valid giveaway. Definitely. Only 2? And one is a beer vendor? The Hawks always have 4 or 5 in half as many games.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) I can't believe he is still hanging on Kevin_Goldstein Kevin Goldstein Also to the Dodgers is former White Sox 3B prospect Josh Fields. Maybe he found the answer to success? Josh Fields @OkieFields Anyone have any good recipes for juicing? Looking for something that tastes just a little bit better than grass.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) It most certainly helps. That is why I'm very impressed at what Reid has done (he is an exceptional coach in my mind and my personal opinion is that I might take him over everyone but Bellicheck). Lovie to an extent gets some credit for what he has done with a variety of QB's. Also, the more I think about it, the more I could make the argument that Lovie > Fisher. A couple years ago I didn't think I'd say it, but Lovie is truly a good football coach. I definitely agree about Reid. No one ever considers McNabb a great QB, yet Reid took those teams to like 5 NFC title games and a Super Bowl.
  13. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) I think it's a bit of both. I'd say a good coach definitely helps those top QBs excel, so the coaches deserve credit. But if Sean Payton had Kyle Orton or Rex Grossman in New Orleans this whole time instead of Brees, how successful would he have been? Would he still have a job? The Patriots didn't skip a beat with Cassel (missed playoffs but were 11-5), but Belichick was easily under .500 in Cleveland as a head coach.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) Fisher is a tremendous head coach and is one guy I would be completey on board with hiring over Lovie. Note: There aren't many guys I'd replace Lovie with in the league. I do think if you brought in a GM like the Ravens guy (who is the top candidate in the league) and the Bears loved him and he was in with the exception that he needed to have a shot to bring in his coach, than I'd probably do it. There are probably 5 coaches better than Lovie in this league: 1. Bellicheck 2. Sean Payton 3. McCarthy 4. Tomlin 5. Reid I think anyone else and you can make an argument Lovie is better. The next list, which includes Lovie, also includes Mike Smith, the Harbaugh Brothers, Shanny (I might include him in the top group), and Rex Ryan (who I happen to hate). You could also argue for Kubiak (who I'm a huge fan of). Which means, if you agree with my list, at worse, Lovie is the 11th or 12th best coach in the league. I happen to think he rates on par with everyone else on the list of this group of candidates and most definitely ahead of Rex. Not questioning your list, but the top 4 coaches have Brady, Brees, Big Ben, & Rodgers as their QBs. Do the coaches make the QB or the QBs make the coach?
  15. I know nothing about these prospects talent-wise, but just the names Deck McGuire & Asher Wojciechowski excite me. Get it done KW.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 09:26 AM) Maybe Korver has just hit the wall and lost his touch? Maybe the break-up with Demi is really getting to him?
  17. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) That was just a bad signing. We needed toughness not recklessness. Huge difference. Won't be sad when he is gone. Like Jamal Mayers. That's a good signing IMO.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 08:13 AM) If that was sarcasm, then yes. Totally. Considering that Wisconsin had like 8 home losses the last 8 years and Iowa was supposedly locked into 11th place, yes, that was sarcasm. People expected the Hoosiers to improve, but not this drastically.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 11:28 PM) You can't break dance for s***. Puck you miss
  20. Big Ten is going as expected so far. Indiana is #12 in the nation, Iowa has two road wins & Wisconsin has two home losses (+1 non-conf).
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) Zambrano prediction in Miami. 17-8, 3.80 Depends which Z shows up. After his "leave of absence" in 2010, he was unhittable for two months. But during 2011, he was just bad all year until he took the rest of the season off.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 08:13 PM) Folks in Missouri can't believe the Cubs would trade away a big name player for nothing. A big name player & about $14 million in salary. But it's not the fans' money so who cares about that.
  23. Sounds like Volstad is heading to the North Side
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 05:08 PM) I believe the same sort of thing was also said about Peppers when the Bears signed him. When they signed him, they had the biggest need of a DE in football, because they just had one pass away...they went out, got him, and the difference was impressive. If he takes a play off, it happens, but it will still make the team so much better when he doesn't, and fixing the rest is Lovie's problem I completely forgot that about Peppers, good point. Even if I'm not the biggest fan, the WR core is so bad, VJax would probably be worth any potential headaches.
