  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Iowa totally outplaying Wisconsin but only up 6 with 6 left. A home loss like that would really hurt any chances Bucky has at winning the conference title.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) I know it's cliche...but you know who's pretty good at helping guys with control issues? The Chicago White Sox pitching coach. I'll say it: MAYBE COOP CAN FIX 'EM?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) He'll be traded by the deadline True, IF he is healthy
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) No, no they weren't. It made absolutely no sense, they needed a CF and speed not another corner outfielder, I said it at the time: the only team showing ANY interest was the Braves and even that was being shot down across the board by anyone familiar with the Braves situation. I remember White Sox fans being interested in trading CQ to the Braves, but that's about it.
  5. Not a good trade for CQ. He's gonna lose homers in that ballpark, and with no DH he is gonna have to run around in that spacious outfield everyday. That's just asking for trouble.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Simon Castro and Pedro Hernandez Color me underwhelmed. Castro has had two short appearances in AAA and gotten his bell rung.
  7. I know nothing about prospects, but neither guy is in BA's top 10 rankings of the Padres system.
  8. from Rosenthal too: #WhiteSox will receive two minor league pitchers from #Padres for Quentin - RHP Simon Castro and LHP Pedro Hernandez. #MLB
  9. Ken Rosenthal@Ken_Rosenthal #Padres announce acquisition of Carlos Quentin from #WhiteSox. #MLB
  10. What happens first? Northwestern wins a bowl game or makes the NCAA b-ball tourney? The former is not looking at halftime, but A & M had blown leads all year.
  11. Leading my year long against the spread pool, just need a couple of these to come in to have a very happy new year. Miami -2.5 Indy +3.5 KC +3.5 Oakland -3.5 Browns +7.5
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Central - White Sox (91), Tigers (87), Twins (82), Royals (70) Indians (67) East - Red Sox (101), Yankees (90), Rays (82), Blue Jays (81), Orioles (67) West - Athletics (87), Angels (85), Rangers (77), Mariners (64) Central - Brewers (92), Cardinals (90), Reds (85), Cubs (78), Astros (70), Pirates (62) East - Phillies (99), Braves (89), Marlins (84), Mets (79), Nationals (68) West - Dodgers (89), Rockies (88), Giants (81), Padres (76), D-backs (69) Playoffs - NYY @ CWS, OAK @ BOS LAD @ MIL, STL @ PHI I did well with the NL, just didn't see the D-Backs rise from last place. Not so much in the AL, ouch. Who picks Oakland anymore anyway?
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) The quitter that gave me the only WS title of my lifetime and I don't think many of us will see another one. I'd like to know the odds of the White Sox winning another title in the next 40 years. Not flaming. I just want the exact odds assuming baseball payrolls will only go up and up and up. 48.369578 to 1
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Frolik has been hot garbage lately, he doesn't deserve anything more than 4th line minutes until that changes. Good point. I'm just a fan of his, but I doubt that the consistency he lacks will ever come around.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) You're right...they are not in the level of nester molina and phil humber in terms of powerhouse. They sure as hell aren't on the level of Halladay/Hamels/Lee
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Every year we assume every other teams players are a fluke and that our players will play to their averages. Every year we assume that every other team's prospects will win the Cy Young because they aren't in the White Sox system. In 3 full seasons, Porcello's ERA is 4.54. Despite Scherzer's stuff and strikeout ability, he has proven he is always susceptible to the 5+ run outing. Jacob Turner is 20 and really struggled in his only 3 ML starts. What about those pitchers screams "powerhouse"? I'll even give Fister credit for his 1.50 ERA drop when he switched to Detroit.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) Committed Indians Lines this morning: 13-19-81, 10-88-25, 29-36-67, 15-22-39(Hayes) They had Frolik on the line with Scott & Mayers Wed. night which I thought was interesting. Rather see him with some players with a tad bit more skill. 1st meeting of the year w/ the Wings tonight, should be fun. Face them six times in the next 3 months.
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 03:14 AM) Jed Hoyer and his wife just had a kid......they named him Beckett. Holy s***, is there any part of their life that Theo Epstein doesn't control? Well Theo was there giving pointers at the conception, so it makes sense that he had input on the child's name.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) for definition of powerhouse see : phillies, philadelphia. tigers, detroit. Huh? One pitcher does not make a "powerhouse" rotation.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) mlbtraderumors MLB Trade Rumors White Sox announce five-year, $65MM Danks extension. Danks will earn $8MM in 2012 and $14.25MM annually from 2013-16. First breakdown of salary I have seen. Awesome. Two thumbs up.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) I've long said and gotten ripped for saying it, that while Hester is a special return men, Toub and the blocking schemes help make him. The Bears have had a lot of successful returners under Toub. And it was why I was always willing to deal Hester for a quality pick. The problem is the superfans in Chicago would all die of heartattacks when the trade was announced. I should add that I hate judging most of this year on Hester but at times he looked awfully slow and non-athletic. But I think that probably had a lot to do with his ankle. Or at least that is what I'm telling myself. I haven't seen the explosiveness out of D Hester in a while. The Bears special teams definitely deserve come credit for Devin's "best-ever" label, but he does make some cuts & moves that very little players can. That ankle definitely cost him the 2nd half of this season., he wasn't the same player.
  22. Apparently there are several kiosks/stations around the UC concourse where you simply flash an AMEX card, and they gave you $10 free Blackhawks bucks. They can be used at any concession stand, or Hawks store at the UC or on Michigan Ave. They don't really keep track of them, so you can just walk around and keep collecting them. Some people in my section collected enough to buy authentic jerseys in the store for $10. That sounds like way too much work and a bit shady, but interesting none the less. Not much to say about last night's game. Quick was outstanding and you can't win 'em all.
  23. How about that blatant travel by Wade on his game-winning shot last night?
  24. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) T Owens wants to play for the 49ers.. The 49ers will WIN the NFC.
  25. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) I'll have to sit this one out, as I'm pretty sure my thoughts on new music are well known. "Damn young punk kids with your loud new music, pants hanging down, metal all over your face!!!" I have to sit this one out too, I don't really follow much new music, couldn't really tell you who came out with albums this year either.
