  1. MLB has one of the best Octobers ever, a very exciting Hot Stove period, and now they shoot themselves in the foot again, love it. I am the founder of the Ryan Braun man-crush club, but this still made me laugh. Whatever, I'm still rooting for him & the Brewers.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 11, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) How in the world does Tebow get so much press? Has to be one of the worst starting QBs I've ever seen. Because he's a football player and he just wins. One of the announcers just said "This is a Tim Tebow type game". Why is that? Because his defense is kicking ass but he cant score points at all, so its a close game? Brutal.
  3. Tebow makes a great downfield throw and the Broncos WR thinks he's on the Bears and drops it. These offenses suck. Bad.

    i am drunk

Friday is such a classic flick, tons of weed was smoked watching it back in the days of high school
  5. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) I'm VictoryMC98 and I approve this Message! 5 years ago they were the laughing stock of baseball.. now the envy. I used to give most of the credit to all of the top 10 draft picks the Rays had. Those picks definitely made it easier, and they suffered through tons of awful seasons, but they have done so much else right, they deserve tons of credit. Plus, the Pirates & Royals have had the same top picks and they both still suck ass.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Jon_Heyman Jon Heyman #dbacks making progress on trevor cahill talks. 1st reported by @Gambo620 Rosenthal is saying Jarrod Parker & Colin Cowgill are potentially included in the trade. I'm not a prospect guy, but those names sound familiar. Aren't they some of the DBacks top prospects? I'm not a big fan of Cahill, I think his 2010 season had a bit of smoke & mirrors tint to it.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) Shut up jerk. The worst part was that a Cubs fan showed me that secret route
  8. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Stop that! I like being able to get a seat after a game on my way home! Is that a Sox travel secret like the "secret" Dan Ryan route of getting off at 18th street & taking Canal to the stadium?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) SPTimesRays Marc Topkin Annual sals for #Rays Moore on new deal: $1M in '12, $1M ' 13, $1M '14, $3M '15, $5M '16, $7M option '17, $9.5M option '18, $10M option '19 Wow, great deal. Even if his arm falls off tomorrow, there's no year that really cripples their payroll. But if he pitches anywhere near to his potential, that's possibly the contract of the decade.
  10. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) i agree. and not having to take the smelly red line back home when I'm piss drunk is also a plus. Since I moved to the burbs, I've become a Metra regular and it's the best thing ever. I took it from that new 35th st. stop a few times last year, can't imagine taking the pissy red line instead.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) I'm talking about your avatar...the second I see those bouncing I forget you even typed anything... He's actually been advocating for the return of Ozzie as manager, but no one notices because of the bouncing.
  12. The $7 or $8 for a beer doesn't bother me as much. It's alcohol, and I guess I'm used to the markup on that, it's just expected wherever you go to drink. What bothers me more is paying like $5.25 for a soda or $4.50 for a water
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) To me "Honey Badger" isnt in the same universe as Charles Woodson, the defensive/multi-faceted player profile that is heisman worthy (though should have been stripped of it since he was ineligible in 1997 for taking payments). The guy has only 2 picks, doesnt contribute on offense, and is a good kick returner. He's a good player, a great special teams guy and plays on a dominant team. Thats not heisman worthy IMO. On the other hand you have a RB who scored the second most TD's to freaking Barry Sanders, and a QB who just blew out both Tebow's and Newton's numbers playing for Baylor. The Heisman voters care so much about winning, I bet they felt like they had to vote someone on from LSU, the most dominant team in the league. They treat it more like an MVP award for team success than the actual "most outstanding player in collegiate football". In the past ten years, I think 8 of the winners have appeared in the BCS Champ. game.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) They are indeed very similar. I suppose I could go to a nice restaurant quite often and order lettuce and water, and say I went to a nice restaurant. But instead I'll just cook at home for the majority of the time. That's the point. Indeed I don't do either of the things you mention terribly often, but when I do get to, I want to have more than just a basic level experience. But baseball games were not always such a luxury good.
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) The 'proven closer' thing is a fallacy. The Rays prove it literally every year. Our bullpen last year had a ton of bad breaks and performed poorly, but that doesn't mean that all RPs will perform poorly just because they're trying to close. Kyle Farnsworth anyone?
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) You make a good point there. I would love to ask AJ or somebody if they thought Oz ran a lousy spring training during his tenure. I guess it's possible, but my guess it was the same as always. It was frustrating that hardly anybody on the team could lay down a bunt (Lexi's bunting style and Beckham's both were laughable) considering the manager likes the bunt. I don't know if Ozzie stressed it, worked on it at all or what. I haven't seen any player comments on whether or not spring training was the reason for our flops. My guess is underachieving talent had more to do with it. So if the talent is there, but it is underachieving, whose fault is that???
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) Montee Ball has really gotten no love. Only the 2nd most TDs in a season in D-1 history. If Wisconsin hadn't given up those two late game hail marys, Ball would be the runaway winner.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Great, then all should understand why our park has 20,000 on a summer night. So good luck running a business. Those corporations are really putting butts in the seats. Baseball has way too many games to cater only to corporations. I realize they do, but it's a joke. I wonder how many southsiders from 55th Street down to 111th and from Kedzie over to Pulaski actually go to games. In a metropolitan area of 7+ million people, why does that matter in the slightest bit? Are southsiders better Sox fans or more important fans? I've never lived south of Irving Park Rd. Should that put me lower on the Sox priority marketing list?
  19. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) Brandon Roy is reportedly retiring. And yet somehow a ref just called a foul on Illinois. (sorry, old, but still bitter college bball rant)
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) The reasons are all pretty terrible, btw. My favorite part- Yet dominated the Bulls... Yet was two games away from winning the championship. LOL, good one
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) The Friday Night Lights shout out on Parks & Rec was money as was the whole episode...again. They have done a great job of adding some drama without losing any comedy. (Take notes, HIMYM)
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) OK, so has anybody here actually met him, or is everybody just basing their opinions on hearsay? Nope, never met him, but if 90% of the people who have call him a bad guy, then something's gotta give, right?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 10:04 AM) The funny thing is that in theory, Theo would have agreed with the Rios deal http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...9,0,71568.story Offer him Adam Dunn....NOW
  24. Modern Family is still a super funny show, but it definitely has fallen from its peak a bit. WTF was with that stun gun scene? A show like that shouldn't resort to awful forced physical comedy like that.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 09:29 AM) And we gave up nothing to get him. Except for payroll space, which has become valuable as the team has underachieved.
