  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Yeah I was referring to old times in the Norris, wasn't serious. There's also no North Stars either. Gotcha. If the Wild ever became consistent contenders, the new playoff setup could help re-kindle the old Chicago/Minnesota rivalry. Although without Dino Ciccarelli, it will never be as strong as the North Stars days.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) The way things are going, our ticket plan will probably be named something like The Return of the Grinder Plan. I hear Darin Erstad is available
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) There would be no 'risk' involved. I just don't want to watch him play baseball anymore. He's terrible. Do people not realize this? The Giants were willing to give up $15 million just to never watch him play anymore and they have one of the worst offenses in baseball. He's bad and steroid testing isn't gonna end anytime soon.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) 100% false. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) A huge lie Everyone else constantly exaggeratedly overreacts around here, can't I do it once in a while?
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) This move most likely wouldn't hurt, but can't we simply sever all ties to 2005 soon? That will never happen. See Bears, 1985.
  6. I will not watch a single Sox game next year if they re-acquire Rowand.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) for some reason I didn't think he was in the top 100. They also had Jared Mitchell as #55 & Tyler Flowers as #60
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) He wasn't a Top 50 prospect, right? In retrospect it was a lot but that doesn't really relate to my comment that a Top 50 prospect for Santos would be a pretty damn good return. A quick Google search says BA had him as #58 to start 2010, so top 50? No. But damn close.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Not that much. A catcher who put up a .779 OPS at the age of 24? I'd say that's a bit more than "not that much".
  10. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) it has been reported that the Cards are trying to trade Lohse to make room for Buehrle. Well that would change things quite a bit. Good luck with moving him though.
  11. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) Frasor will probably be our closer but I hope that he gets traded as well He might be the 4th best closer option in the bullpen at best.
  12. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) KW said Buehrle is all but gone.. I hope that he goes to the Cards I don't think the Cards have even offered him. Their rotation is pretty full as it is, and they have their own payroll issues with Sir Albert.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) OK, 75 games. I've given up on Rios and Peavy. Adam Dunn is basically a rookie starting over next year. Mark's all but gone. It's going to be ugly next year. You forgot that Juan Pierre is gone. That adds like a 7 game improvement from last year automatically.
  14. Heyman & Olney reporting that MB has narrowed it down to 5 teams.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) KW was not going to bend some GM over for Santos. If you recognized that, then you're not all that shocked or disappointed. The White Sox, as currently constructed, will struggle to win 70 games next year. Relievers are so volatile it's hilarious. May as well cash-in while you can. Until they trade Danks or Floyd, that's not correct at all.
  16. Not sure if I am a fan of hiring Sumlin. What's his record without Case Keenum as quarterback?
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Because it is still in the FO's plans to bring him back. I have firsthand knowledge that this is part of their plan granted some team doesnt give him 4 years at 15 million. But hey, continue with your statements. I have zero firsthand knowledge, but that's what I've been thinking too. They are letting him test the market, but as long someone doesn't go overboard on their offer, they will try to match and keep him.
  18. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) Brown is practically untouchable. Is he really that fast?
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:13 AM) The playoff system would be easy: 11 conference champions and 5 wild card teams. Shorten the regular season to 10 or 11 games if you have to, and do that. Very similar to what 1-AA did before expanding their playoffs last season. The system would make such an incredible amount of money, and in that sense, I'm amazed it hasn't happened yet. I can tell you this much, if NIU were getting ready to play at Alabama in the 1st round of the tournament right now, I'd be incredibly excited. Even with the knowledge that we had absolutely no shot at winning the game. In the meantime though, I'll just hope for a plus 1. Baby steps. You and about 10 other people in the country.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) That is because he is a selfish prick. I love it when you analyze Steve.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 11:14 PM) There is no perfect solution. If you try to fix those 2 problems, you've got many others. It's probably the solution with the least amount of "problems." Old-school playoffs will sure ramp everything up again. Looking forward to Hawks/North Stars and Hawks/Leafs. The Leafs are in a different conference?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 07:54 AM) jonmorosi Jon Morosi Sources confirm Matt Capps to #Twins for one year w option at $4.75M. Sweet, good news for the rest of the AL Central.
  23. Major realignment next year. Two 8-team conferences, two 7-team conferences. Play home & home vs. teams in other conferences, which is cool for the regular season, get to see more of the Eastern teams.. It goes back to the old playoff setup, top 4 teams in each conference qualify and play each other, which then leaves a final four re-seeded. It could lead to way more Hawks vs. Wings playoff matchups A: Ducks, Kings, Sharks, Coyotes, Avalanche, Canucks, Flames, Oilers B: Hawks, Stars, Blues, Red Wings, Wild, Jets, Predators, Blue Jackets C: Leafs, Canadiens, Senators, Sabres, Bruins, Panthers, Lightning D: Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Hurricanes.
  24. The cheapest ticket for the BCS champ. game on StubHub is $1,350.
  25. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 06:36 PM) I paid for a grand total of 0 tickets last season. If they do a true rebuild, I'll be back to my usual 15-20 whether or not you believe it. That's good for you, but the average fan doesn't think that way. If the Sox are losing, their overall attendance will drop guaranteed.
