  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Royals sign Jonathan Broxton. Broxton-Soria will be their 8th and 9th innings. Uh-oh. Except that Broxton has been awful ever since this 48-pitch outing in 2010.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) Suh has been suspended 2 games without pay. Bummer. He misses the Saints game, which the Lions would probably lose anyway, & the Vikings game which is probably a W even without him. 3 games would have been nice so he misses the game in Oakland, which is a toss-up.
  3. dan_bernstein Dan Bernstein News that #Cubs may pursue Fielder/Pujols is sobering evidence that the new CBA badly damaged Epstein's plan.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) OSU isnt quite there yet, I would be surprised at the moment if they beat Duke. They very well could be better than them at the end of the year, but they are really too young to be as good as they can be. I will enjoy watching Craft/Lenzelle on Rivers. They are 6-point favorites. It's college b-ball, you always have to give an edge to the home team, even if OSU's home court advantage isn't as good as other teams.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 08:30 AM) Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources: Broxton to #Royals on 1-year deal, pending physical. Creates options with Soria: Start him, trade him, keep him at closer. #MLB Good move for the White Sox. If Broxton comes in to relieve Chen, it will actually give the Sox a chance to score some runs and win the game.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) So, Illinois goes 6-0, then 0-6 and looks dead to the world in their last game. Fires the head coach. Does Illinois get a bowl berth? They still may. The Big Ten has 10 eligible teams & only 9 bowls to fill if Michigan makes the BCS, so Illinois probably won't make that cut. But there are other conference like C-USA that don't have enough teams to fill their spots, so one of those bowls may be forced to take the team formerly known as the Fighting Zookers. SI & ESPN both have them in the New Orleans Bowl facing Peanut's alma mater, LA-Lafayette
  7. Acc-Big Ten Challenge starts Tuesday. Any predictions? I have watched very little b-ball this year, but here goes nothing: Miami @ Purdue Northwestern @ Georgia Tech Illinois @ Maryland Michigan @ Virginia Clemson @ Iowa Duke @ Ohio State Indiana @ NC State Penn St. @ Boston College Florida St. @ Michigan St. Virginia Tech @ Minnesota Wake Forest @ Nebraska Wisconsin @ North Carolina 7-5 B1G
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Apparently this is fire coaches day in the NHL. I'm suprised Boudreau made it this far, I think he should have been canned after last season. 4 straight division titles (twice the #1 seed) and not a single trip to the conference finals? Buh bye. I know the NHL playoffs can be a crapshoot at times, but something has to change there.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) This is why I think they hire an defensive minded head coach IMO. It would help with a quick start. The defense did pretty damn well this year with Koenning as the DC. The offensive side of the ball is where they struggled without a Mendenhall/LeShoure quality back.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) Had a 3 day management training course this past week at work. They brought in a lawyer to discuss various legal issues and according to her a majority of recruiters, internal and external, scrub candidate's names online (i.e., facebook, twitter, etc). I know we talked about this topic a while back but I still stick to my guns and say keep your profiles private. Better be safe than sorry. Isn't there a way to still access parts of your profile even if it is set at private? I feel like I have heard about recruiters that can get around the privacy settings and still see some, if not all, of your info. I could be wrong?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) Remember how stupid it was of the organization to let Jim Thome walk to Minnesota? Letting Mark! walk to Detroit would be 3x dumber. That depends how much money they sign him for. The Sox let Thome walk for $1.5 million and because they liked Mark! Kotsay more. If Detroit offers him more than the Sox can afford, I don't think dumb is the correct term.
  12. I was at the game in Anaheim, tons of Hawks fans in the 100 level, which made that 3rd period extra enjoyable. About 15-20 fans through hats on the ice for Sharpie's hat trick. Good to see them turn it around after the debacles in Alberta. They were a Niemi no-no away from a 4-2 circus trip, I will take 3-3.

  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) No one's arguing yet that the University was too quick to fire him? If they truly thought he might be innocent, I guess they could have just put him on administrative leave until it all played out. But with everything that went down in Penn St., they really had no choice. I have a hard time seeing Boeheim keep his job. Even if he knew nothing at all (which I doubt), he still called out all of the accusers as extortionists, which in his position was the wrong thing to do.
  15. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) Zook reportedly canned this morning: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/r...s/post/16258995 Please hire Mike Leach. Now.
  16. Saints have the Giants tonight, Lions next week, & Atlanta in Week 16, all of those games in the Superdome. Hanging a loss on all 3 of those teams would be great for the Bears. WHO DAT!!!
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) Just before X-Mas in 2006 KW dealt B-Mac for John Danks (and Nick Massett). Will he send Danks out sometime in the next month? God I hated that trade when it happened. Oops.
  18. Matt Schaub to the IR, Texans sign Kellen Clemmons, so they won't be claiming the Beard of Neck.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) Dude, they had Todd Collins last year. They are saying all the right things, such as the "Hanie will start and Orton will backup" stories that are being leaked. That's what you say, because if KC claims him (highly likely) you can't have Hanie thinking he was going to get replaced and they have zero confidence in him. Hanie probably starts this weekend regardless, but if the Bears are awarded the claim on Orton, he will absolutely be starting against the Chiefs at home the following week. The question is, do the Chiefs want to blow $2.5 million with a 4-6 record? You'd think they'd look at all their injuries (DB's, Charles, Cassell, etc) and chalk it up, but who knows. I disagree. I think Hanie starts until Cutler comes back, unless he plays like Todd Collins. Orton doesn't know the offense, wasn't exactly tearing it up in Denver either. I think the NeckBeard would strictly be signed to be a backup.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) I think it's steelers and pack behind the bears, no? Maybe I'm wrong. This waiver wire is confusing. The 49ers & the Packers are the only teams with a better record. There are 7 teams with a 7-3 record, but the Bears have the hardest strength of schedule out of all those teams, which makes them the "best" and lowest in waiver order, so they are 30th.
  21. LOL, the Mullet family is cutting everyone's hair!
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 07:58 AM) Check out the rack on this woman: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...0,2283486.story Football players/coaches get all the hot chicks
  23. If anyone is gonna claim Orton before the Bears, I hope it's Washington. A reunion of Rexy & NeckBeard would be hilarious comedy.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) Bill Greene Just confirmed Urban Meyer to OSU, deal signed after UM game. Supposedly already talking to prospective staff members. First sign of trouble in Columbus, you better be ready for Urban's "health" problems to pop up.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Cannot wait to utterly destroy ISU tomorrow. What a joke of a tournament. Good thing Illinois is upping its preseason tourney stature by going to Maui next year. We need to avoid the Las Vegas Invite/Cancun Challenge/Chicago Invite/South Padre Whatever because they are all terribly run. Weber is boys with the promoter though, so I doubt it stops. After last year's UIC game, I will never be that confident. Last time they played I think the game went to OT.
