  1. Wow, that is awesome. I loved the Leafs player mouthing off to him after in the bottom replay.
  2. If we are gonna trade with the Reds, how about Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey?
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) All I'm reading is a bunch of paragraphs that basically say, "Halladay should have won because his numbers should have been better." Just like the Phillies should have won a playoff series or two.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) I just don't understand what the Jets were trying to accomplish at the end of the game. What's the ONLY possible way that the Broncos win that game? By having Tebow bust loose on the ground, you know he won't/can't throw. So to counter that you play to contain/have a safety or linebacker to spy him and don't let him do that, and force him to throw. What do they do instead? Blitz. Get burnt. Repeatedly. Lose the game. Exactly. They blitzed eight guys, so as long as he gets to the outside he has all this free room to run, which is the only thing he can do. Sit back in coverage, make him beat you with his arm Rex, bad coaching. It should be interesting when the Bears head to Denver. I'm thinking Lovie won't be dumb enough to let him beat the Bears like that, but Urlacher/Briggs do have the size & speed to keep up with him. MVP of tonight = Von Miller. That kid is a f***ing beast.
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Per Rotoworld. "Suspended Packers DE Johnny Jolly was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison for violating the terms of his probation for possessing drugs and tampering with evidence." Sucks cause the dude had some talent. Could of won a Super Bowl and been part of this team right now. Sad story. Someone listened to a little too much 3-6 Mafia....Sippin on some sizzurp....
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) If it's not luck I dunno what it is. You can't give Lovie props for beating a s***ty Seattle team to get into the NFC championship game. And don't forget, we're not even in that position if the league didn't steal a TD from Calvin Johnson in week 1 (fluke!) And the Bears had no shot at beating GB. They were a cock tease for 3 hours. That's it. If the Giants had not blown a 21-point 4th quarter lead vs. Philly or if Tampa had not blown a game late at home vs. the Lions & their 26-game road losing streak, then the Packers would not have even made the playoffs last year. Fluke! Thanks Kyyle
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) How many times does a FA QB actually work? Warner? That's what I was gonna say. If a QB is that good, no team lets him became a free agent, unless he is getting old & washed up.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) How on earth can you say Jim Harbaugh is anywhere close? That's just idiotic. And close to Wisenhunt? I don't know what that means. Are these guys losing hall of fame qb's and the best receiver in the game following an SB appearance for a franchise that was terrible for decades? How can you call Wisenhunt a good coach? He made the Super Bowl with a HOF QB & the best receiver in the game. He obviously had nothing to do with it, it was all his PLAYERS making plays. They were a 5-seed that had the NFC champ. game at home. Fluke!!!
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) I'm not saying it's ALL luck. I'm saying he gets lucky. I'm saying his record doesn't reflect how good his teams are. I remember those stretches early in his tenure when the defense and special teams would outscore the offense. That's not coaching, that's abnormal. Yes, I give him credit for bringing in a turnover/good defense mindset and for the defensive scheme that has clearly worked. But to me that's mostly negated by the bonehead time outs (yes, we can say that's more on Martz and the 12 year old looking qb coach, but after one game of that s*** i'd have everyone in my office getting the problem fixed, not letting it continue for 7-8 weeks into the f'n season), his refusal to make adjustments despite being outplayed (and outcoached) (who remembers that Sunday night game against the Giants last season when he refused to do ANYTHING different or at least tell Martz to try anything different. That is the s*** I cannot stand with him), the challenge issue as you mentioned, etc. I'm considering all of his work and still think he's just average. He's nowhere near "excellent" and to me not "good." Does anyone here truly believe that last year they had any business in the NFC championship game? Seriously. Were they that good? To me (and everyone I know who follows them) they were an average team that lucked into that game. I really don't understand how people can dispute that. People use that as a "oh! 2 NFC championship games, must be a great coach." People were screaming for him and Angelo to be fired after the 2009 season. All that s*** got forgotten real quick once he took an average team to the NFC championship game, which IMO, was a fluke. Rex Grossman is an abnormal quarterback, they are lucky the offense scored at all.
  10. @PWSullivan Paul Sullivan It's official. Sveum in as Cubs manager. So how do you prounonce it?? "Svay-um?" "Svee-um?" "Svem?"
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) Nope. This one was actually competitive. Not really. Kershaw won 27 of 32 1st place votes, Halladay won 3, Kennedy 1. He did win the NL Triple Crown.
  12. It's hard to comment on the wild card stuff until they announce the actual format. I see nothing wrong with the playoffs currently though, other than the 1st round being only best of 5. With 15-15 in each league, that means interleague every weekend, huh? That could be interesting.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) It'd be rather awesome if he were claimed. Maybe Dale Tallon wants him back???
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) JeffPassan Jeff Passan Gary Pinkel -- the highest-paid worker in Missouri at $2.35 million, or 17.5 times as much as Gov. Jay Nixon -- popped for DUI last night. Welcome to the SEC!
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) Our pitching would suck. As long they can keep the ball in the park, the other 24 Lillibombs would catch everything.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 07:48 AM) pgammo Peter Gammons Red Sox owners want managerial "experience." Weaver, LaRussa, Anderson, Leyland, Guillen had managed 0 games when hired. What a laugh "Every manager in the history of baseball had zero games experience at some point. Haha, Boston." Wow, Peter, that is some incredibly deep analysis, did you come up with that yourself? Nevermind that Leyland & LaRussa took 10+ years & 2 teams to finally win a ring. Maybe Boston wants to win now and not develop a great manager?
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) What I've been wondering is if the Yankees are desperate enough to get their hands on Danks that they'd take Rios with him. Danks + Rios for Gardner straight up is a deal I think I'd do in a heartbeat. That would be outstanding for the Sox. Get riod of Rios contract & get a young, quality player for Danks before he leaves as a FA. My big concern for the Yankees side is that I doubt the pressure of NYC would help Rios bounce back at all. It could make him bat worse.
  18. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 12:49 AM) Well the upset isn't happening, but I will not root for it anyway, as I don't want any part of an LSU/Alabama or LSU/Oregon rematch. Let's see this Okie St/LSU game if they get by Okla. I'm with you. I absolutely love chaos in the BCS, but I don't see LSU losing again, so I'd rather see them face OK State's high powered offense than Oregon or Alabama again.
  19. My excitement for the off-season is a 7. I feel like there will be some moving & shaking with the roster, and I can't wait to see how it breaks down. For the actual 2012 season, I'm at about a 2.5 right now. They aren't gonna add a Pujols/Reyes type player, and the hoping for turnaround seasons from Dunn/Rios/Beckham worries me now.
  20. I hope Minoso makes it just so it lowers the odds that Ron Santo does
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) I rule? Congrats, you win a cookie. This whole time I had no idea he was a 3rd base coach for Boston. I enjoyed this from Wikipedia:
  22. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Not sure how being down 14 going into the 4th is kicking anyones ass, but okay....... We could go back and forth all day long, bottom line is it's going to be 49ers vs. Packers the the NFC Championship......so enjoy the silly fights with the Lions. I hope not, because that sounds like an awful game. I think NO/NYG/CHI would have a fighting chance in Lambeau, but I'm not sure about the 49ers.
  23. @Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Confirmed: #Marlins' offer to Pujols is indeed 9 years, as @TBrownYahoo suggested. As I reported initially, offer "substantial." #STLCards
