  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 07:25 AM) The safest bet of all is to say "we do not know how good these players are or were without performance enhancing drugs, and we never will; thus, not only due to ethical reasoning, but general lack of perspective and knowledge, we cannot elect these players into the Hall of Fame, even considering their contributions to the game." My issue with this is how do you decide who was a steroid user and who wasn't? Did they guy have to be caught by baseball? Or implicated criminally? Or can you just do the eye test? It seems obvious that Sammy was a juicer, but he has never been really implicated in a case. How about a guy like Mike Piazza? People have him listed as a guaranteed Hall of Famer, but IMO he's just as obvious of a roider as the rest of them. There are some allegations out there, but nothing substantial. Why should he get in, because he didn't get caught?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 08:03 AM) Maybe they did a drug test/physical/personal evaluation on him after he showed up. That would make sense. But like I said, it's Manny Ramirez. All of his "baggage" has been well documented over his entire career. Did they really think he would have suddenly changed over the past 6 months? They went all the way to Florida to find out?
  3. McQueary still has a job with PSU but will not coach this weekend due to multiple threats he has received. I wonder if the threats are from people upset he didn't stop the rape in the shower or just PSU fans blaming him for costing JoePa his job?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/rumbli...-prince-fielder How about this for an international incident waiting to happen: Manny Ramirez in Japan? A source with ties to Japanese baseball tells Rumblings that Manny had a Florida tryout for a Japanese team (the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks) a couple of weeks ago, but "it didn't go well." And what was the hang-up? "The Japanese don't like 'baggage' in a player," the source said, "no matter how talented he might be." Wait. Manny has baggage? Never noticed. I dont't understand how the tryout went bad because of his baggage. Did the Japanese know nothing about him before they showed up to Florida? A simple Google search would tell them all they need to know. No need to fly halfway around the world to tell him that.

    i am drunk

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) I love Thursdays, best night of the week by far for college business students. No class tomorrow, $1 wells, what can be better!? Thursday night was always the best night to go out. $1 bottles at C.O.'s used to be my go-to. (I think it's closed down now)
  6. Rivers has always been a whiny b****. Back when Cutler was in Denver, they used to chirp at each other all the time. If Cutler had been on the sideline b****ing like Rivers was last night, I guarantee the media would be all over him though. That being said, I can't blame Rivers too much for the loss last night. That O-line is so banged up, he barely had any time to throw the ball.
  7. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 12:21 AM) Jon Heyman sounds like the #chisox are expecting to hold onto carlos quentin, talented yet inconsistent player who hit .254 Knowing KW, that means he is definitely getting traded
  8. Columbus has 5 points in 15 games, on pace for 28 pts for the season. Bad. But they did beat the Red Wings!
  9. @BreakingNewsBreaking News NBC News reports Joe Paterno has hired a prominent Washington criminal defense lawyer to represent him in the Penn State sex abuse case
  10. Hawks on the PP: 5 for 57 (8.8%) 30th of 30 Blue Jackets on the PP: 6 for 65 (9.2%) 29th of 30 Nothing wrong with taking a few penalties tonight for either side
  11. I had trouble getting a list together too. Did some google searching to refresh my mind. My list ended up being almost all movie villains
  12. Interim coach Tom Bradley just said that Mike McQueary is still on the staff and will be coaching this week. WTF?
  13. SI article on Jerry Sandusky from 1982. Creepy to read it now after what we know.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 09:13 AM) Noting the source... cst_Cowley cst_Cowley According to a Sox source, Buehrle has told the team no hometown discount coming this time around. There are about 10 teams interested. Does Cowley not realize that Ozzie no longer works for the Sox, so can no longer be considered a "Sox source."
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 09:01 AM) Greg Doyle posted the link on twitter. I can't capture it on my iPad. http://www.businessinsider.com/jerry-sandusky-donors-2011-11
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) Omg. Just heard the rumor of what is supposed to come out and shock people. I hope it's not true. Rumor: Sandusky pimped out those little boys to rich donors. Please don't be true. It will also clarify how he was given retirement in 1999 in exchange for the cover up. I've seen that rumor floating around too and I believe it was brought up by a reporter on the Score this AM. Hopefully, it's just someone starting s*** trying to make a name for themselves, because if it is true, that would just be absolutely awful.
  17. SI_sarahkwakSarah Kwak Just a thought for the PSU students... An 18-year-old college freshman would have been about 9 years old in 2002...
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) Rock, The only facts that matter are what was said between the assistant and Paterno. None of the rape victims told Paterno, itd be a hell of a lot different if they had. Right, read the facts. Sandusky and Curley said that the GA reported it as horsing around. They also use words such as "not serious", etc. If youve ever read a criminal complaint, it reads as if every allegation is a fact, regardless of whether or not its true. There is a reason why a grand jury indictment is not a conviction, what we are reading is the govts best argument, and even then its not really clear what was said to Paterno. But hey, youre right, thats what you want to hear isnt it? Then why did they tell him to stop bringing kids around campus???
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Im not even sure what you are trying to say. But I do get that its a lot easier to react to terrible tragedies by wanting to kill everyone as some sort of an attempt to make things right. Unfortunately there is really no correlation. Destroying Paterno wont save more children from being molested, it will just destroy an 84 year old man. I understand the easy answers, I just choose to give the hard but just answer. We are talking about firing the guy, not electrocuting him. He represents a university and coaches/raises 18-21 year old men. He f***ed up in a very bad situation and is facing the consequences years after the fact.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Shocking to say the least. These kidnappers also picked the wrong guy to kidnap. He's not even making any real money yet compared to other big name guys. I didn't even think about that. He has definitely made way less than a million. That's a lot in Venezuela, but nothing compared to so many other players.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) By all accounts Paterno has been nothing but a saint for PSU, we all make mistakes. And even if its entirely true, I still think its hard to justify firing Paterno for not calling the police. Did those boys that were abused by Sandusky after Paterno & company didn't call the police also "make mistakes"?
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) This is going to sound harsh and probably pretty difficult to do, but when you make it to America to play baseball, don't go back to your s***hole countries anymore. And if you get far enough to earn a good amount of money, move your immediate family here with you. It is a harsh thought, but it definitely makes sense. It's gotta be hard to avoid your home country, but when kidnappings are that commonplace, especially when you are rich, maybe you should stay away.
  23. JoePa is out, assistant coach Tom Bradley is interim head coach.
