  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) So you literally have ONE suit? That seems unpossible to me. I only had one suit until about a year ago. Haven't had to interview for a job in over 7 years, so I only wear suits to weddings. The only reason I bought two was cause it was buy one get one free.
  2. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) And how long before this A-ball pitcher is in Cy Young discussions? Was he drafted by Theo?
  3. Interesting move by the Indians. Derek Lowe is old and bad now. I don't think I'd wanna pay him $5 mil to come pitch in the AL.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) New Orleans doesn't scare me, Oakland has no QB, and they play the Bears pretty well. They can easily go 3-3 against those 6 you listed. The Saints in the Superdome should scare every team IMO and I think the Bears will give them a much better game outdoors at Soldier Field. You are right about the Raiders, they aren't the same team as a few weeks ago. Obviously, they could pull out a couple of those games and finish 11-5. I just don't think their playoff berth is as much of a given as people make it out to be, I see them stuggling some over the last two months.
  5. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) That wouldn't be retiring, would it? Tony told the front office that this would be his last year in August. It was a very well kept secret and there was no way he was coming to the White Sox regardless of whether they had hired somebody by now or not. I wasn't saying that the Sox could have hired TLR. I was inferring that it's a good thing the Sox hired Ventura earlier, because he would obviously be the #1 candidate for the Cardinals job too. (sarcasm)
  6. Lions v. Bears @ Soldier Field on Nov. 13 moved to 3:15 kickoff
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 03:34 AM) I dont care about the officiating, the Illini f***ing suck and its on the coaching staff. End of story you f***ing p*****s, enjoy your 3rd tier bowl, and way to f***ing get my hopes up senior year. There is your mistake right there. It's a Zook coached team, always keep your hopes on guard. Even the Rose Bowl year they had that awful loss to Iowa right after beating two ranked foes.
  8. Another managerial opening?? Good thing the Sox scooped up Ventura when they did.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) Any organization that runs their personnel moves based on the fans desires gets what they deserve. True, but they weren't gonna make the playoffs whether the QB was Orton, Tebow, or Quinn. You might as well throw him out there for a couple games. He was just a 1st-round pick from the previous administration, so you can't just dump him.
  10. Whoa. Did not see that coming. Way to go out in style, good for him.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) Then they shouldn't have benched Orton for him in the first place. What? If they didn't bench Orton, then Tebow would be on the bench and the fans would be clamoring for him to start. This way, the fans get their Tebow, and Elway can show everyone why he wants nothing to do with the kid, while trying to find a QB he likes.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) Wouldn't surprise me to see Orton again soon either...which is why Denver should have moved either him or Tebow. One of the two. They're doing a spectacular job of making sure Tebow is set up to fail. Elway & Fox want nothing to do with Tebow. I think they are just showing the fanbase how bad he is, so they don't get upset when they move him in the future.
  13. Boardwalk Empire keeps bringing it.
  14. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 06:36 PM) He plays quarterback though. Just because people suspect he might be better used differently doesnt change the fact that he is a starting qb in the NFL, which he is awful at. I can agree with that. If he keeps playing like this the next few weeks, the Broncos will have to make a switch. He can be an NFLer, but yes, as a QB he is absolutely horrendous.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Philly record after bye week is awesome. Andy Reid is now 13-0 after a bye week. Crazy.
  16. According to CBSsports, here are the top 10 batters and top 10 pitchers. Let's predict where they go.... Position Players: Albert Pujols - Cardinals Prince Fielder - Rangers Jose Reyes - Nationals Brandon Phillips - Reds Yadier Molina - Cardinals Carlos Beltran - Giants Aramis Ramirez - Tigers Michael Cuddyer - Yankees Jimmy Rollins - Mets David Ortiz - Red Sox Pitchers: CC Sabathia - Yankees CJ Wilson - Mets Jonathan Papelbon - Blue Jays Heath Bell - Twins Hiroki Kuroda - Angels Mark Buehrle - White Sox Edwin Jackson - Mariners Ryan Madson - Phillies Francisco Cordero - Reds Roy Oswalt - Phillies Any other: Juan Pierre - Marlins Joe Cowley - Miami Herald I reserve the right to change these picks before the FA signings commence.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) I see. I still stand by that statement. Their schedule still has games @GB, @ CHI, @NO, vs. GB, vs. SD, @ OAK. They finish 9-7 at best, which may or may not get them in the playoffs, depending on what the other NFC teams do. A win vs. the fighting Tebows doesn't change my opinion.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) They're doing it on Monday, here. I hate trick or treating on weeknights. It means I have to wear pants all night.
  19. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) He is for comedy purposes. Quite simply one of the most awful professional athletes and the hype he gets never ceases to amaze me. I don't know about that. I hate Tebowmania as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't call him an awful pro athlete. He may be an awful QB, but he can be a valuable player for a pro football team if used right. He has the size & athleticism to make plays.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) I've mentioned it before, but I don't find Caddyshack funny at all. I believe that it was hysterical in its day, but don't think it's held up over time. I'm sure many still find it funny, but I'd wager that is because they saw it when it was newer and they sort of can relive it. Seeing it for the first time decades later, I can seriously watch it straight through without laughing. Co-sign. I never watched it as a kid and the times I have watched it recently it wasn't very funny. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) Bull Durham is such a p**** chick flick. I hate how it's on every best sports movies list. I've never seen it and that's why. It always just seemed like a sappy chick flick, not a sports movie.
  21. When are teams officially allowed to sign free agents?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) I'm not sure there's a game on that interests me. Even the NFL RedZone channel is boring me right now
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) I'd say the Blue Jays and the Cardinals won it. The Cardinals got a needed starter for a talented, albeit struggling outfielder. The Blue Jays got a high-upside outfielder and a Kenny contract for Jason Frasor. The White Sox got Jason Frasor and a busted SP spect. There are two winners, and one clear, obvious loser. How are the White Sox an obvious loser? They had a surplus of starters and needed to shed salary. They did that and got a young player who may be able to contribute at the major league level. How are the Blue Jays definite winners? They are paying Mark Teahen $5.5 million this year. People on this board wanted KW fired for that same reason. And you still don't know what will happen with Rasmus. He may have talent, but it's not a guarantee that he becomes a star.
