  1. Just realized that the Bears are playing 4 straight "night" games. (London game is at 6 pm local time) I wonder when the last time a team had that scheduled during the regular season.
  2. Depending on how cold it is, you can also walk from those Madison bars, they are under a mile away. I walked to the UC from 3rd rail on Thursday, it was nothing.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) But yeah, you should have had subtitles. Shoot Redbox an email, I have no idea what their customer service is like, but maybe you'll pull off one of their many free rentals. Good point, I'll look into that. Recently I have noticed their DVDs have been strictly for rental, which restricts you from watching any of the extras on the DVD, I wonder if that could have had an effect.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) There was something wrong with your DVD. Mine had subtitles the whole way through. Interesting. I guess that was one advantage to my busted DVD, I noticed that immediately since I was listening, not reading.
  5. How about that Colby Rasmus trade now? Whether or not Rasmus ever lives up to his potential, without that trade the Cardinals don't make the playoffs, let alone the World Series.
  6. Watched X-Men First Class this weekend as well, very enjoyable. All the scenes in foreign languages had no subtitles, I had to try to guess as to what they heck they were talking about. Is that how the movie was made or was there something wrong with my Redbox DVD?
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) He's been mediocre this postseason, but let's not criticize Leyland for only using him twice in a 7-game series. Statistically, pitchers are better on four days rest. It takes a team to win these series. I think the teams that panic and go to short rest with pitchers that aren't used to it, are hurting their teams more than helping them. True, but there are a few teams that won it all because they forced their pitchers to go on short rest. 09 Yankees, 03 Marlins.
  8. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) Kane actually winning faceoffs was not what I expected. I am not sure how the Carcillo thing will play out but for one night it looked really good. The Kaner rant to the fans was good after the game. What did he say? I never stay for the 3 stars or interview after the game.
  9. As a huge Frank Thomas fan my whole life, I can say with confidence that I have absolutely zero urge to drink "Big Hurt" beer and probably never will. Just like I have never had Mike Ditka wine, salsa, bloody mary mix, or whatever the hell else he sells. (The steakhouse is great though)
  10. This media slurping of Verlander's game last night is making me sick. The guy gave up four runs. His postseason ERA is 5.33. I don't care how many pitches he threw, if C.J. Wilson didn't suck it up, the Tigers season would be over. It was a gutsy start by him which their bullpen needed, but it still wasn't some all-time epic performance. A Cy Young winner should do much better with his team's season on the line.
  11. Just got back from the game & I co-sign everything Steve said. They started out slow for the first 10 minutes or so, but after that they were on fire and clearly showed they were the much better team. I am really liking the Brunette addition as well. It's also good to know that if Emery looks shaky again, there is a youngster waiting in the wings. HOCKEY!!!!
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) Its official, Auburn bought themselves a title and got away with it. They weren't the first and they won't be the last
  13. QUOTE (Wedge @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) Update: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,0,768698.story I wonder if Theo has any say as to which prospects may be available to Boston. He's not technically the GM until the deal is completed, but one would think they would have asked for his input regarding the compensation.
  14. Harris & Meriweather benched. Conte & Wright to start at safety Sunday night.
  15. Emery in net tonight. He's gotta be better than Turco/Huet, right?
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) I dunno, top 5? He might be top 10 if he's lucky. I believe all of these guys throw with their left hands: Jon Lester, Ricky Romero, Cole Hamels, C.J. Wilson, Derek Holland, Gio Gonzalez, C.C. Sabathia, Cliff Lee, and Clayton Kershaw. As does David Price. I know Danks had an off year in 2011, but of the 24 lefties to qualify for the ERA title, he finished 22nd, just ahead of Chris Capuano & Jeff Francis.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 08:16 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/blackhawks-...tm_medium=email With Stalberg & Smith getting healthy, you kind of saw this coming. It was a great experience for the kid and I'm sure he will be playing in the Indian sweater for many years. Heading to my first game of the year tonight, will be cool to see Buffs, Ladd, & Winnipeg make a return to the UC. Hopefully they lose 5-1 again.
  18. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) batting 2nd and playing CF for the Brewers today.... Mark Kotsay Home run...and an awful double up at 2nd base
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) I'm not even sure why the rest of baseball should field teams anymore http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,6348490.column Gross. At least Dan Bernstein's article told Cubs fans to wait a few years til you see the results. Although he guaranteed results as well. The rest of the NL Central may as well stop trying. Just like the AL Central should stop trying due to the Royals' farm system.
  20. No one deserves to lose a game like that more than Valverde. I was at a bar full of Tigers fans which made it that much better.
  21. QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) Hahahaha. What a comical play at the plate. Cabrera looked slower than Paul Konerko
  22. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) Oh yeah, we do this on my softball team all the time. I usually have a beer or two before my kickball game even starts.
  23. It was probably game 1. I had to drink too just to handle watching Javy Vazquez at the end of that season.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) OTOH it gives them a paycheck and leverage against the owners. Who pays those paychecks? Would these rich players own the teams in the league? Someone has to pay them, right?
