  1. Has anybody polled the people of KC as to what they think about Epstein?
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 08:24 AM) Compensation is believed to involve prospects and nothing on the ML roster (reports of Garza/Castro were just silly). Honestly, I'm excited for the Cubs. This is a pretty big deal for that roster, and I have enough friends who would be so happy to see them not suck that I hope it works out. Meh. I have plenty of friends & family that have suffered for a long time, but f*** them. That's why they get for being Cubs fans, I hope it continues to the 22nd century.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) And losing is way more accepted with the Cubs than any franchise on the planet outside of the Washington Generals. Unless the reason you lose is because of a 26-year old dork in headphones
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) The guy is a great gm people. He's made bad moves just like every general manager but he's one of the best in the game. Huge get for the Cubs. EDIT: I'm actually also very interested to see what compensation Boston is going to get for him. If we could get 2 decent prospects for a not so great manager then you'd think the price for a top end gm would be pretty steep. I'm not trying to say he is a bad GM. It's definitely a very good move for the Cubs. But people are already prediciting WS championships for him, let's not get over our heads now.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 11:36 PM) Texas is good, they aren't 2005 White Sox good. I can't remember the last team that was 2005 White Sox good. 11-1 b****es!
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) The A-Rod one, to me, is the most shocking and scary. He's already 36 and still has six years left on the deal? Ouch.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) I don't know. Theo was a huge beneficiary of the steriod era. And he hasn't the playoffs the last few years with more resources than nearly any other team
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) Yeah, it was interesting that he fell out of favor here. He didn't do much in Houston last year, but is off to a pretty sweet start with the Pats this year being used solely as a rusher on passing downs. 4 sacks in 5 games. Another screw up by the Bears. His rookie year he was only a pass rusher and had a great year as we all know. Then they decided to make him a full-time starter and teams ran all over the Bears in his direction. That also ruined his pass rushing production. Then he started falling out of favor and then he gawn.
  9. Wow. That powerful Royals farm system just keeps getting stronger.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) You're really overplaying the hatred angle. Even the biggest Ozzie haters around will be indifferent to him within a matter of months if not weeks. All is forgotten with time. One major difference is that people "hate" Ozzie because he talked s*** about the fans, players, media, anyone he could, while his sons did the same thing. I don't think much of the true "hate" is due to his passion for the bunt or not dropping Adam Dunn down in the lineup.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) I only said Angelo was okay, not that he was good or even average, just that he did pick Forte and a big hit like that should make up for a lot of misses. What? He found a solid running back in the 2nd round, that's not a "big hit". That's where you are supposed to pick players like that. Forte is very good, but let's not act like he is Adrian Peterson. That doesn't make up for the season he before where his 2nd & 3rd round picks failed to make it our of training camp.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) Now Kenny on the other hand... ChuckGarfien Chuck Garfien Kenny Williams said that he did consider making Paul Konerko player-coach. Wow, that's interesting.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Maybe like five years ago. His draft record the last few years is horrible Over the last 5 seasons, he had made 11 2nd & 3rd round picks. Those picks need to immediately contribute. 6 are no longer with the team. 1 has yet to see a snap 2 are safeties who are only special teamers presently 2 of them are major contributors (I will give Bennett the benefit of the doubt before his injury) That is unacceptable and can help ruin a franchise.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) Can we please also talk about Devin Hester? NFL record or not, this dude clearly hurts us more than he helps us in his current role. He drops open passes, and as proven previously, when he has to be on the field on offense, he is not his usual self. Catching a kickoff that is headed out of bounds, to run out of bounds at the 6, is probably the most bone-headed thing I have ever seen in a football game. That's 34 f***ing yards just given up due to stupidity. Devin Hester is the best kick/punt returner in the history of the NFL and is still doing well in that role (despite last night's gaffe). That in no way qualifies him to be a receiver though, let alone a #1 receiver. Keep him on ths special teams, throw him out there on offense for the occasional wildcat or trick play, but him playing every nearly snap on offense makes zero sense. He doesn't even have a size advantage, in fact he's probably smaller than most DBs.
  15. Tim Tebow is your new starting QB for the Denver Broncos.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) Lovie is a pretty good coach IMO. Far from great, but overall slightly above average. He was TERRIBLE tonight though. A stupid 4th and 1 call, a stupid challenge, 3 timeouts in the 1st quarter (although that was the offense, but it still comes back to the head coach), big plays galore being allowed by his defense specifically designed to stop big plays. At the end of the day though, this is on Jerry Angelo. This defense is old, bad, and washed up right now. He hasn't done a good enough job infusing young talent on that side of the ball to go with the aging starters. And the offense is just laughable beyond Forte and Cutler. They've played 5 games, and already have NO shot at finishing higher than 3rd in the NFC North and 6th in the NFC as a whole. Lovie has always struggled with the in-game decisions. Whether it be challenges, clock management, or timeouts. During the Super Bowl season, he almost cost them the Seattle playoff game with that ill-advised timeout. I do think he has been successful with the talent he has had though. He won divisions with Orton & Grossman at QB. But now with the players getting old & teams having figured his D out, he is having a really hard time adjusting his schemes. He hasn't been the best coach, but I think he has done well. That being said, Jerry Angelo is #1 to blame. The drafting has been absolutely putrid. Players are getting old and there is no one available to replace them. In Lovie's defense, the safety position is super important. The Bears have drafted like 3 safeties in the past 3-4 seasons, yet all 3 are strictly special teams guys, while Harris & Meriweather (psycho head-hunter) suck it up out there. What happened to the awesome D-line depth they were supposed to have this year? 2nd round pick can't even dress for a game. I'm not even gonna get into the offensive side of the team.
  17. Not that it matters, but why not kick the field goal with 30 seconds left? Make it a one possession game, kick an onside, maybe give yourself a chance to throw a hail mary. Whatever.
  18. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) So who is the scorekeeper going to credit this win too. I am assuming Cards hold onto to the lead. Jackson only pitched 4 1/3 innings. I would give the win to Lynn who finished the fifth. So they will probably give the win to Salas who pitched the sixth. lol! Lynn only threw one pitch, but it was a bases loaded GIDP, so I would give him the win too.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Bears getting old and slow .................Chris Harris is all mouth no play. The safety play this year has been miserable. Almost every big play has had a screw up by the safety. Everyone hyped up Chris Harris's return and he has been awful as well.
  20. Brandon Meriweather is a psycho. All he does is run around the field aiming at people with his helmet.
  21. Way to go Rangers. Once you saw Ryan Perry in there, you knew Texas was gonna score. Maybe Leyland should have put in a starter instead.
  22. This first baseman for the Cardinals is pretty good at baseball.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Cutler is playing incredible football tonight. No doubt. Nice to hear the commentators praise him so much as well. Pretty amazing to be up 10-7 right now.
