  1. It depends on what people need. The Freeman/Wallace side looks better, but I don't think it's lopsided if the other team needs a RB. Addai is still the starter for a team that will need to run, and Stafford could have a breakout year if he stays healthy.
  2. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:54 AM) When was the last time we were eliminated on 9/15? Seems earlier than it has been The last few seasons have ended around October 3rd or 4th while this year it's September 28th, but then again, the Sox weren't over 13 games back either.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:37 AM) Stop it. Please god stop it. Where's my rifle?
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:21 AM) Thom Brennaman during the '09 BCS title game sealed it for me. That's the first time I seriously wanted to murder somebody on television. What was that line? "If you have ever been graced with the opportunity to just be in the presence of Tim Tebow, you are already a better person." Ugh.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) Most Tebow hate is media driven, no doubt about it. People just get tired of hearing about the guy. Obviously that's not his fault but he's not the only athlete it has happened to. Yeah, the media has definitely caused most of the hatred, but his one commercial pissed me off the most. "They said I'd never play Division 1 Football" No they didn't, you were the 3rd ranked high school QB in the whole country. "They said I'd never win the Heisman" What? You played as a freshman and were easily a preseason favorite for the award when you won it. I'm all for hard work and effort, but let's not forget how big Tebow is and how much athletic ability he has been given. If he was 5'7, no one would know who he was.
  6. Trick question, Mags has no chance to make the HoF
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) It's obvious Quentin isn't healthy yet. They probably activated him to try and help his trade value this offseason, but they soon realized he couldn't swing the bat without pain yet. I think this is the case. And with the expanded rosters, he's not wasting a roster spot if he is off the DL and not playing.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Is Quentin dead? I'm not dead yet
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) There are hard feelings when you are fired. It's why the Royals have never given Frank White or George Brett the job in the past. They knew managers are hired to be fired and it never ends well. Well if Ozzie can't get past the hard feelings to come back, then that's his problem. The fans will be more than willing to accept him. Like you always say, he managed them to the only WS title in 90 years. People will always remember & appreciate that. They just don't want him in the dugout anymore.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) It's very sad that a White Sox through and through like Ozzie never will be welcome back in Chicago again. That's the risk when you hire a former player. Only this one directed the Sox to their only world championship in many many years. That's 100% not true. Just because people want him fired now, doesn't mean they won't celebrate 2005 in the future.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) I don't think it's a good deal for the Sox. Who would leadoff if you play Stanton in RF and Viciedo in LF? Also, De Aza would never play because Rios has to play because he makes more money than the other outfielders. Juan Pierre is not coming back????
  12. How about a CQ & Ozzie trade for Mike Stanton?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) D'Angelo Jimenez
  14. K-Rod just came out and said he is unhappy with this 8th inning role as well. With these two and the Nyjer Morgan stuff, things are getting a little interesting in BrewTown with the playoffs approaching.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:47 PM) 1.) Well, will we be out of the race when the new skipper finally demotes them? Probably. 2.) Well, if most hate on KW, then I've missed it with all the Ozzie burials. I sense most want KW back and want Oz gone. If most agree with me and hate KW, good for them. Cause I think he's a problem. 1) I think the Sox still had a chance in late July, early August, and Dunn was still consistently in the lineup 2) As much as people hate Ozzie, they do hate KW as much. It's just that KW has no supporters, while Ozzie has you. If you have ever read a Jackson/Hudson thread, you would read that people think KW is the worst GM in the history of baseball.
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) I think they should sell the team to some egotistical Saudi Arabian oil czar who says, "I want a team like the Yankees and win a bunch of American World Series". The sad thing is he probably would have signed Adam Dunn
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) With us, it seems like they're trying to score those extra sympathy/sentimental points because even they know they've become irrelevant since that title. I get your point, but I think every team does it. The Yankees bring around those old timers all the time, even the Red Sox bring Dave Roberts around constantly, who had one stolen base.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) No other team makes a big deal about it in the middle of September. None of the other 20 teams out of the race have done anything like that?
  19. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) *Max Headroom I used to have a Max Headroom sleeping bag
  20. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) The love some people have for Joe Crede and Aaron Rowand is ridiculous. Why is Carl Everett never brought up? That's a true White Sox legend. At least Crede was a good player when healthy. Aaron Rowand only became popular by crashing into walls and he cost the Sox runs with bad defense in Sept 05. And Carl Everett hates dinosoars, but he moved Willie Harris over to 3rd in Game 4 in Houston.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) In recent days, Guillen has been more vocally protective of his coaches and pointed out they still have some financial rewards at stake. The average full-share for each member of a second-place team is about $10,000 and the Sox are battling the Indians for that. "You know what's funny?" Guillen said. "Some coaches might need the $5,000, $3,000 (extra) to be in second place. … They can buy Christmas gifts for their kids. "Maybe the players don't need that, but some coaches do. Just think about them and make sure we win second place." Very inspirational stuff for the fans!!! Sometimes I think Ozzie is more out of touch with the everyday fan than ... well, that's for political discussion and another area of SoxTalk. Your top two bullpen options make the minimum salary, you think that money doesn't matter?
  22. f*** Ozzie: Way to throw Sale & Santos under the bus, your two best young pitchers.
