  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Konerko (.163 vs. Verlander) out of Sox's lineup. For his career. In 2011, his line vs. Cylander is .364/.462/1.091. Yes, that is a 1.091 SLG%.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) The Tigers now have the second-biggest lead on their closest team in any division in baseball. The only one with more is the Phillies with a 12-game lead on the Braves. Oh, and the Braves are still the Wild Card team by a large margin. Pathetic. Detroit has the 5th best record out of the 6 division leaders as well. In any other division, the closest the Sox would be to 2nd place would be 3.5 games in the NL West.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) Sean Casey was on the radio last week saying that as you get older, you do have to adjust your routine. It's not shocking, but he basically guaranteed that his good buddy Dunn would be altering his routine. If Dunn doesn't change his routine this upcoming offseason, then that's a huge problem. I just don't think his previous routine necessarily reflects his work ethic. I believe the same thing happened to Buehrle. He barely threw in the offseason, had an off year where he struggled a bit, and changed up his offseason program.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:19 AM) The fact that Dunn never picked up a bat in the offseason I think speaks volumes. Maybe getting away for a little while is good, but who is to say if he did some offseason baseball work he might have been a .280 guy with a.420 OBP and hit 50 homers a year? His offseason routine, which I don't know if the White Sox had any inkling of before they signed him, shows, at least to me, the guy was satisfied with what he was and really didn't either care or wasn't willing to put more work in to be better. That's a red flag. So if they did know...................... How do you explain the last ten seasons when he had the exact same offseason routine?
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 07:31 AM) Mil is only 1/2 game ahead of Arz. It could change. They are still 6.5 ahead of STL. Wouldn't there be a meaningful baseball game up there either way?
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 07:23 AM) If he's not seeing the ball well enough to know when to start his swing, perhaps his eyesight is giving him issues. Maybe it's glaucoma. We should trade back for Edwin Jackson, didn't he have the stuff to help that condition out?
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Nice start for the Raiders. Ugh Janikowski!!!! (Where's the Polish flag smiley face?)
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) I bet he wishes he was a Bear now. Why? Do the Bears have better health insurance coverage than the Steelers?
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:33 AM) Does the phrase "emergency appendectomy" scare people a lot more over the last 5 months or so than it ever did before? f*** yeah. I hope they don't insert the "bad at everything" gene during Sharp's surgery like they did during Dunn's. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) My god.. and we just signed him to an extension. I guess the saving grace is it is a different sport. I also find it odd his is gonna take 3-4 weeks whereas Dunns took what... a few days? I would have to think the physicality & endurance needed for hockey as opposed to baseball plays a large part in that. Plus, it's training camp. If this was late in the regular season or the playoffs, Sharpie would be out there in a few days max.
  10. If it recognizes accomplishments on the field, why is Adam Wainwright nominated this year?
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Nobody is saying that is the standard, but I don't think that beating Tulsa and not causing student deaths are unreasonable standards for the first year. This guy is awesome!
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) This great pitching you say is how many games back and a .500 team not so great Porcello would be the 4th starter easy on the Sox. IMO. Humber, Buehrle, EJax, Stewart, Danks & Floyd all have a better ERA in a Sox uniform this season than Porcello does right now. Peavy is only .05 higher. Where again would Porcello fit in the rotation?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) That's a way to take the pressure off of Dunn Ozzie... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...it-anymore.html Wow, that's f***ing ridiculous. I usually try to keep my b****ing about Ozzie to a minimum, but that's just crazy. On so many different levels.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) I was implying that most coaches, like Kubiak, are p*****s. Oops, I thought you were calling out Belichick for running up the score, my bad.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) We saw the difference between Kubiak and Belichek yesterday. Up 34-0, Kubiak's team tried running out the clock in the 2nd half. Belichek's team would have applied pressure until the end, likely winning by 60 or so. Meh, it's the NFL not some unfairly matched college opponent. Stop somebody if you don't like it. I enjoyed the Ravens fake extra point while up 27-7. There's already enough bad blood in that matchup, I'm sure that won't help. Didn't get to watch the game at Soldier Field, but couldn't have asked for a better start to the season. I will be in NOLA for the game Sunday. Bears.
  16. I know it was just South Dakota St., but it's still nice to see the Illini roll an inferior opponent like that, instead of playing down to their level. I don't know what's gonna happen vs. ASU, but good to see some excitement down in C-U.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) If Adam was eighth in at bats he'd probably be hitting .035. Adam Dunn has 60 hits in 372 ABs, a .161 average. If he had 559 ABs like Juan, and still had only 60 hits, that would leave him with a .107 average. I think your math is off somewhere there greg.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) He could be Brooks Robinson defensively. His offensive production has to dramatically improve to justify him playing every day. Does he have to be Longoria, Wright or Zimmerman? Of course not. Does he have to be Adrian Beltre? No. But Ty Wiggington/Adam Kennedy-like production will not suffice. Ty Wigginton has a career OPS of .769, only 22 points lower than Beltre. IMO, that type of production would be more than enough with his defense.
  19. As someone who will be rooting for the Brewers this October, I find these stats a bit alarming:
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) I thought there was some nice returns last night. Hell the Packers had a kick off return for a touchdown and they haven't done that since 2001. True, but that was also brought out from 8 yards deep in the endzone. The very next one Cobb caught that far back, he downed. Most of the time, you won't see those brought out.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) They have to play the Bears. Twice. Damn you!!!
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) I think the Packers offense has a chance to average over 30 points a game this year. Maybe if they didn't have to play the Bears D twice
