QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) I'd like to note that I'm impressed about the number of people saying a team that gave up 34 points at home, didn't make a strong showing on defense, and was 1 yard away from a chance to tie the game at the end, is the class of the NFC. And considering that 14 other NFC teams have yet to play a meaningful game. -
That sucks. Your season was the best part of the year.

Congrats to Juan, 2000 hits is an impressive feat however you look at it. Good luck in 2012 wherever you are playing. (Hopefully starting & leading off for the Tigers or Twins)

Congratulations on Single #1668, Pierre

On West Coast trips, Juan Pierre avoids In-N-Out to stay away from the Double-Double. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) I loved watching Peyton versus whatever the defense was throwing at him, especially a creative defense. I still can enjoy his football skill & talent, it was more the constant crying at the refs or at his teammates at such. It seemed to be happening way more recently, kind of looked like a prima donna on the field a bit IMO. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) Potential NLCS preview starting today. I'll definitely be turned in. If the Phillies take care of business, it could be a NLDS preview. The D-Backs are suddenly only 2.5 back of the Brew Crew.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Yeah, I didn't really get that point. Peyton being out is bad for football. Colts games have now become unwatchable. Colts games were getting unwatchable the last year or two anyway. I was getting sick of Peyton, turning into Favre #2, no thanks. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) I asked some Royals fans I know about Ozzie. Some of them are sabes people. All of them thought it out of the realm of possibility fans want him fired. One guy said he probably should be on the hot seat if they suck next year but the WS title still should bide him some time and our players are overrated. The Royals have 0 playoff appearances in 26 years & 1 winning season in 17 years. I'm sure they have the same expectations in their team/manager as Sox fans do.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) Keep earning that playing time, Rios. At least he's dropped more. Last 5 games: .400/.364/.500 -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Jeez, Big Jim has been awful with the Indians. Yet his AVG is still higher than Dunn & his OPS is higher than both Rios & Dunn

Wow, I didn't realize there were some ex-Blackhawks. (I try to forget hockey from earlier this decade) This type of Russian plane has had numerous incidents in the past. It sounds like they were about to start weeding them out completely. It's awful that it took em too long and a tragedy like this had to happen.

Sox @ Rochester Red Wings, 09/07, 7:10

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) This is weird. I have in my schedule that we are playing the Twins in Minnesota today. But now it looks like we have a game in Rochester. An exhibition game on our day off? If you have seen the Twins lineup this series, for the most part it's been a bunch of Twins farmhands. -
QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Wow, I didn't realize Asdrubal Cabrera's numbers had dropped so much. he was a world beater the whole first half of the season. I would love to see what his numbers had been since Orlando Cabrera was traded. Wasn't he credited for giving him hitting tips earlier in the year? "hitting tips"?

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Why, because they kicked the Sox ass this year? No, because it's Detroit. f*** the Tigers, f***, the Red Wings, f*** the Pistons. The Lions have been so bad recently, I don't mind them much. There are only a few rivals of my favorite teams that I would actually root for.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) Tigers/Brewers World Series, please. No thanks. Angels or Rangers please

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) Unless you look at their stats. Benoit has gotten on track since his bad 1st half, & Coke has had to transition from a start to reliever. Of course, Valverde has been perfect in save opps. Benoit since the ASB: 19 G, 2-0, 11 HLDs, 2 BS, 1.83 ERA, 0.66 WHIP Coke in August: 12 IP, 8 H, 2 BB, 20 K, 0.00 ERA, 0.83 WHIP Al Al on the season: 37.2 IP, 59K, 2.15 ERA, 1.27 WHIP -

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) Should be a strong crop of playoff teams in the NL. I have the Phillies beating the BoSox in the WS, but Milwaukee or Atl coming out of the NL wouldn't shock me. Best BrewCrew since '82. Milwaukee is the only team I think that has a chance to beat Philly. Arizona is a great story, but they beat up on bad teams, while they struggle vs. the good teams, so I don't see them making much noise. The more I watch Atlanta, the more I don't think they have much of a chance. They are unbeatable once it gets to the 7th/8th inning, but I think they may have a hard time getting that far with a lead. Hanson hasn't pitched in a month, so who knows what to expect from him. Jurrjens came back to earth and is injured now. Hudson has been decent, but Lowe is old & bad. Minor & Beachy have talent, but I don't know if they are ready to take over a playoff series. That lineup doesn't scare anyone either. Uggla, McCann, & Bourn definitely got their jobs done. Prado has come back to earth, Chipper is solid but 39, Alex Gonzalez is Alex Gonzalez, Heyward rarely starts anymore. Freeman had a great hot streak, but even he slowed down a bit, and he is still only 21.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) In 2000 (the first example I looked at), 6 of the top 9 teams went to the postseason. Edit: In 2001, 6 of the top 11 teams went to the postseason. This year it will be 4 of the top 10, unless the Angels pull a comeback (they would make 5). Last year was 4 of the top 10 as well.
