  1. QUOTE (onedude @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) De Aza to me is a poor mans Carl Crawford. Hopefully he's like the old poor Carl Crawford from Tampa, not the new rich Crawford in Boston
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) I'd like to see this survey, because Ozzie was listed as second to last a few seasons ago. 6th place, just behind Dusty Baker
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) I've barely been following the team in recent weeks. Who's our long reliever these days in case Zach falters? Actually I think it's Josh Kinney
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) He'll be starting and losing Game 2 in Philadelphia.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) I've barely been following the team in recent weeks. Who's our long reliever these days in case Zach falters? Dayan of course
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) I have never, nor will I ever, understand how people feel bad for professional athletes other than obvious things like deaths and paralyzing injuries. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it, but as a human being, yeah I feel bad to watch him suddenly be so awful at what he's been succeeding at for his whole life. I do realize that just this season he will probably earn double what I will in my whole lifetime. He wakes up with way more zeroes in his bank account, but I'm sure his struggles still grind his gears every morning.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) MicheleSteele Michele Steele by espnchijon Just talked to @ProSportsCPA , if Mike Vick only makes the $40m guaranteed, after creditors & taxes, take home pay is abt $5.8m over 6 yrs I was about to comment that he still owes a lot of people money.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) I have to take one pitcher and one hitter at least. After that it can be any combination. So you'd take Romero over Uggla? That's like a toss-up IMO, but I think I would lean towards Romero. The 30+ home runs from your 2b spot are great, but Uggla will be 32, and those 3 Dunn-like months to start the year have to worry you. Romero has been great and just keeps improving year to year. Being in the AL East is the only thing that worries me about him.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) Somehow, I find that one deeply offensive. I concur, that one is just not even funny.
  10. Did a co-ed bowling league last winter. Finished 5th in the regular season, but then stormed throught the top 4 seeds to win a sweet bowling trophy! My average was around 155 or so.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) This is wonderful news. The next 5 CY awards are his if he can remain healthy. Somewhere in Los Angeles, Clayton Kershaw just shed a tear...
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) Mercifully only 2 more left. Well if you want to get the misery over sooner, Comcast now has next week's episode available On Demand. Not sure how long that will be for.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) Funny how writers such a Rodgers calls this a lucrative job. I can't see that at all. You have bad contracts. Then there's other things like the weather, cost of living, ect. that I wouldnt' consider it lucrative. The organization is so synonymous with losing that they are used in non sports documentaries with it comes to the word losing. -After next season, you have one bad contract left. -You have a team that's capable of sustaining high payroll in the future -A "fanbase" thats loyal and keeps attendance high (Even during this awful season, they still have a relatively decent attendance) -cost of living? weather? It's still the city of Chicago, not Cleveland, it's an attractive destination -the franchise may be synonymous with losing, but if you do win it all, you became an absolute legend forever I'd say it's a pretty lucrative job

  15. Just when I thought Entourage couldn't get any worse...
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 02:51 AM) Ozzie haters who say he throws players under the bus (which is absurd) must watch the replay of Flowers and Dayan's homers today. He hits Viciedo on the shoulder and also greets Flowers after the bombs. It's unfair to say he doesn't like the young players. Watch the dugout greeting after the bombs. I am gonna miss Ozzeroo.

    i am drunk

    4:30 PM and I think I finally sobered up from last night. Guess that means we hosted a good party
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:49 AM) These "trade everybody" threads really need to stop. Start them in October...I don't give a f***. They are pointless at this point in time. Honestly, what are you going to get for Mark Buehrle right now? Joe Smith? Sorry, he's relieving for the Indians. John Johnson? Sorry, the one you're looking for is dead. Steve Smith? Sorry, think the Dodgers are going to hold on to him...as well as the Panthers...and I suppose the Eagles...and I don't know why the Sox would want my old neighbor. I believe his NBA career is over as well
