  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) So who wins the division, Tigers or Indians? Tigers 65-58: Chi 3-3-6 Cle 6-3-9 KC 4-2-6 Min 3-3-6 Bal 4-0-4 TB 0-4-4 Oak 0-4-4 20-19-39 Indians 62-58: Chi 4-4-8 Det 3-6-9 KC 3-3-6 Min 4-3-7 Oak 4-0-4 Sea 5-0-5 Tex 0-3-3 23-19-42 White Sox
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) Yeah, so if the Braves are ahead after 7 innings, Game Over. Hopefully they can keep that up in the playoffs. Those two young arms have been worked hardcore this season.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Well crap, what happened to him? Nailed in the head by a Fukudome line drive
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) 3 hits in the first an 0 runs. Welcome to 2011 White Sox Baseball
  5. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) With Dunn this year, stats don't mean crap. E.g.,one of the parks he has done the best or close to the best hitting is/was Wrigley. He was in the lineup in the NL games this year. How'd he do ? I get your point about Wrigley, but it's just a quirk stat about THIS season and how bad it has been. He's hit .313 vs. CLE & .348 vs. the Angels. After that, it's .222 vs the Yankees & .200 vs. SEA. He hasn't .200 versus any other team. That's just hard to fathom until you look at his .164 average.
  6. Your right fielder for the Twins tonight: Joseph Patrick Mauer
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) All set for CMA Fest 2012. The wife loves country, and sadly, I'm getting into it. It should be a fun weekend. I hear ya, the same thing has happened to me. Before I was married I refused to listen to country and now I enjoy it. Actually chose to go see Toby Keith next month to celebrate my birthday. Nashville is a great town, that fest should be fun, country music or not.
  8. It wouldn't be a Royals signing without a column by Joe Posnanski:
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) How about annually? Royals_Report Bob Dutton by mlbtraderumors #Royals two-year deal with OF Jeff Francoeur is for $13.5 million. More at kcstar.com.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) Seriously, we're reshuffling the rotation now because of the powerful Cleveland lineup? As opposed to the weak Rangers lineup?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) I don't remember if I read this or looked myself, but if you go to the top 10 Baseball America prospects every year, and pretty much ask "Which of them put up 5 WAR or more over their careers" you wind up with about a 40-50% bust rate in the top 10 prospects. That means to me that the top 5 picks in the draft probably have a higher than 50% bust rate (with some Strasburg like notable exceptions). By the time you're at the back of the first round, it's gotta be lower than 20%. So in the lower first round of the draft, 80% of the players picked put up at least 5 WAR in their career? That seems higher than I would expect, and it would be even higher if you didn't include the White Sox' busts.
  12. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) I can't wait to see all of you Dunn doubters eat crow next year when he hits 40+ homers. This year is just a fluke. People aren't worried about next year yet. It's in the next 40 games that people want some results.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) I REALLY enjoyed Cara Maria owning Wes in that argument. He had no come back and basically shut up. If he wasnt teamed with Kenny he would have been the odd man out episodes ago. No doubt. How can a 27 year old who dumps a bottle of cola on a woman call her out for being immature?
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) It's a copout because the team should have a dedicated amount to spend on the draft, their MLB payroll should not impact this part. In fact, it should be the other way, they make so and so amount of money each year and have so and so expenses (including the draft and development), then whatever is leftover is what they should be pulling the payroll from. If you have a good team that may be one piece away from a playoff run, you can't add that player to the payroll cause it would affect your draft budget? Forget making the playoffs, we may able to draft that one guy who 3 years from now has a 50/50 chance of playing for the Sox. No thanks to that logic.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Mark Gonzales Sox lineup: Pierre lf, De Aza rf, Konerko dh, Dunn 1b, Ramirez ss, Rios cf, Vizquel 3b, Flowers c, Beckham 2b, Humber p With Masterson's L/R splits, good to see Ozzie throwing every left handed bat in the lineup.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) Ozzie actually looking at stats and seeing that Quentin sucks against Masterson? Just like against Pavano, yet people complain when Ozzie does finally look at the stats. CQ's not the only one to struggle against Masterson. CQ: 1-19 PK: 4-22 Alexei: 3-19 Rios: 3-24
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) Don't forget though that he played the Indians in those first couple games of the season when he had the magic powers of his appendix. Maybe we should buy one on the black market and have one surgically re-inserted?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) He had the best at bats on the team last night I watched on & off last night, so I must have missed those. Good to hear, hope he can look OK tonight. #WhiteSox' Dunn batting .313 (10 for 32) against the #Indians this season and .149 (47 for 316) against every other team
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) With the huge attrition rates of prospects in this game, I honestly prefer our current model, which is weighted much more heavily towards committing to known assets. I agree with this. How many of these draft picks are even gonna sniff the major leagues, let alone be productive?
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) Another easy copout. Stop making damned excuses for this team and expect them to actually make smart, future driven decisions. It's not a copout, it's a true statement. The team is obviously losing money this year, so that probably limits their draft budget as compared to other teams. If they choose to spend even less than their draft budget allows, then yes, that's a whole different issue.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) Well yeah, he's a sinker-baller. So does that mean Dunn plays again? Great.
