  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:10 AM) In the fangraphs world, he was worth $2.4 million last year and has already topped $10 million this year. Those numbers are all relative to other players, not to actual real-life contracts. Francoeur historically plays well his first season or so with a club, then gets comfortable and goes downhill.
  2. I would assume that a bloated payroll with an underacheiving team that keeps fans from the game plays a part in how much money you have to spend on the draft. With the Pirates payroll, it makes it much easier to spend that much at once.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) @DKnobler DKnobler Royals announce two-year contract extension for Jeff Francoeur Just when you think the Royals have figured it out, they go and do something like this.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) I was thinking the same thing. How did he even test positive for it? He took HGH, so his blood test came out positive for it?
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Adam is worthless Awful. it's one thing to lose because he is smaller, but another to lose because you were grabbing the wrong f***ing color balls. CT didn't deserve to go out like that. I was hoping there would be more hits in that jungle though. Michael & LeRoy have a good chance I think. That food poisoning is gonna get to Tyler, Kenny is sucking, & Wes has choked in a final challenge before. Go Rookies.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 01:22 AM) Losing those seniors is going to refresh the program in my opinion. Plus, Bruce has a new AD to impress. I expect Illinois to have a very good season. After the last few seasons, I'm not getting my hopes up until I see progress. Although, once that first ball is tipped, I'm sure I'll be all in like always.
  7. Keep it within one run, Sox will come back & win vs. Perez
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) Twins lead, 4-3 Thome is my homie
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) The stripper with the redheaded dude? Yup, in the white tank top behind the left handed hitters. Maybe thats why the Indians put 5 lefties in the lineup?
  10. I heart that blond in the front row above the dugout
  11. The good old fashioned 4-3-6-2 double play
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Indians very aggressive swinging early Isn't that the way to get to Mark? You know it's gonna be around the plate and it won't have crazy movement. 1-0 Tribe
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 05:22 PM) The Chicago papers should be blasting the White Sox for there lack of foresight and investment in the minor leagues. You need to remember that the everyday baseball fan doesn't follow nor care about the draft or 95% of the minor league system. Unless its a Viciedo type who can make a difference in Chicago, most people won't pay attention, so it gives no reason for the media to talk about it either.
  14. How about the blond chick in the front row above the Tribe's dugout? Yowza.
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Didn't Lucy have a nice little run early last year and have a big game in I think Toronto? 1.178 OPS in April 2010, including a 1-3 game in TOR with a homer!
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) No, that's not just you. That's pretty much the only conclusion one can reach. He's clearly not the same pitcher he was with San Diego. And at this point, he could win every game he starts for the remainder of his contract with the White Sox, and I still am not sure he would be worth what we will have paid him over the life of the contract since we acquired him. If he went 34-0 over a full season? That would be worth a lot.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) Anyone do Pandora Radio? I just started playing with it. Is it worthwhile? I think it's solid. You can pick by genre or similar artists. You can skip over 6 songs an hour per station, and like/dislike songs to get them played more/less frequently.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) We can't afford to have Lucy be Dunn-like at the plate. I hope he can get some hits. We also can't afford to have TFlo catch every single day, plus extra innings, and start hitting like Lucy because of fatigue.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Today at 3pm, its supposed to be revealed who the bag man was that paid for Cam Newton. I guess Danny Sheridan is on the radio now and he refuses to give the name up, even though he kept saying he would.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) I'm fine with him playing next two games against extreme sinker ballers. Good point, didn't think about that. If the Sox stay in the race, he really needs to play Dunn less though. At least Rios shows signs of hitting the ball hard from time to time.
  21. LOL at Marmol. Gives up a walk-off granny to some kid named Brian Bogusevic. And it was a bomb to center. I guess the kid is from the south burbs, went to De La Salle.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) I think that would take Florida opening up the talent pool. Free LoMo!!!
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) Even if that means we continue to see the same old mediocrity consistently? Even if they don't rebuild right now, which is a good argument with the contracts, they need another manager and probably GM in there to compete with this current squad. We won't see that if we make the playoffs. How do we know another manager or GM would do any better? I'm not advocating holding onto these two, but there's no guarantees that anyone else keeps this team in contention. A new GM would still be hampered with the contracts of Dunn/Rios/Peavy. This may be the closest they are to the playoffs in years. You don't know how much better it would be or how long a rebuild would take. Consistent mediocrity is better than whats going on in KC or Pittsburgh or Baltimore.
