  1. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) Wouldn't they still be percentage points ahead even with a Sox win tonight? Nope, if the Sox win: CLE - 60-59 (.504) CWS - 62-60 (.508)
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) As awesome at the Phillies are, even if they're healthy I wouldn't peg them as the NL champions just yet. I think they'd still be the favorite but assuming the Giants make the playoffs(yes I know they're 3.5 back but I still think they get in) then the NL is going to be really hard to navigate for anyone. Those should be some fun playoff series. I don't know about that. Other than Panda, they have nobody to hit the ball, and this year's D-Backs are better than the Padres were last year, when SF chased them down.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) I don't believe tonight is the finale. They'll have that jungle last for 30 minutes alone. You are right, oops! I guess CT will be tweeting live from @MTV during the episode tonight.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Sox lineup: Pierre lf, De Aza cf, Konerko dh, Quentin rf, Ramirez ss, Dunn 1b, Beckham 2b, Morel 3b, Lucy c, Buehrle p Really? Isn't time to just give up on him this year and play someone who can actually hit the ball?
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) Ugh, I've driven my point into the ground a hundred times, but it still won't stop people from making these ignorant "assumptions". The Sox will not do well in the playoffs. Sure, they can pull the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals, but they won't. As the Red Sox and Yankees just recently showed us, we can't beat good teams, at least when it matters. Winning this division by merely being slightly less bad than our competition will only result in a quick playoff exit and the maintaining of the current front office and managerial staff. It will likely mean that they are all kept around for a few more years, at the minimum. In my opinion, this front office and managerial staff has proven to be underachievers (even by "winning" this division in 2011, they will have greatly underachieved). With them going forward, we will see the same old story year in and year out. So yes, I would prefer to go in another direction at the expense of a no-chance opportunity at the World Series. I have my eyes set on the future of the team, whereas most pretty much just want the results now. Question my fanhood all you want, but I'm the one willing to stick with this team through a rebuilding process in order to pursue a greater chance at continuous contention (not in the sense of being the tallest midget, as it has been for the last few years in this division) in the future. But I suppose I should just want results immediately, which will almost certainly be to the long-term detriment of the team. That would make me a real fan. I understand what your point is. But if on Sept. 28th the Sox can clinch the divison by beating Toronto, I just find it amusing you would openly root for them to lose. 2006 Cardinals, blah blah blah, either way, watching my team lose in the playoffs >>>>> not making the playoffs IMO As shack said, this team has several financial commitments that will keep them from rebuilding immediately anyway, so might as well go for it this year or two. Anyway, there is no guarantee a rebuilding process puts them in position to compete. The Royals have been "rebuilding" for 25 years and they are still in last place w/o a single playoff appearance.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Unfortunately, yup. Liking the manager/GM is more important than the team succeeding....got it.
  7. The Challenge:Rivals Finale tonight!!!! I'm holding out hope that CT can pull a win in the jungle, but I don't see it happening. The way he carries the team kind of reminds me of the Sox. CT = Paul Konerko Adam = Adam Dunn
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Seriously? Nope.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Today at 3pm, its supposed to be revealed who the bag man was that paid for Cam Newton. Rumor is that it was Charles Barkley
  10. Is it still an "official retirement" if you haven't pitched in 4 years? Anyway, thanks for that Houdini act in 2005. I nearly got kicked out of an Arizona country club screaming at the TV during that inning.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Why do we leave 22 runners stranded per game? Even the games we've been winning in this stretch feel like losses with how horrible our hitting with RISP has been. We've left SO MANY runners at 3rd base with 0 or 1 outs this season. NOW WE BRING in Sale. Great, Ozzie. Way to go, but one inning too late. I didn't know hitting with runners on depended on how cohesive you were with your teammates.
  12. Look at Ozzie making the best power hitter bunt....come on
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) It's so easy to hate this White Sox team. Even though the score is still tied, it's clear the Indians play much better as a team than the Sox. We're just a collection of talent. That's it. A cohesive team we are not. How do you get that from a couple of walks and grounders up the middle? A cohesive team doesn't prevent Ohman from just missing those strikes.
  14. Wow, I thought that ball had a chance. Time for JP to hit another bomb
  15. Ugh. Why was Beckham so close to 1st on that? It wasn't hit that hard
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) Was that really a nice play by Dunn or the fans are just trying to be "extraordinarily encouraging" of anything he does? It was a play going to his right that every 1b should make.
  17. Look at De Aza hitting the cut off man!
