  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Ozzie actually made plenty of mistakes in 2005. I recall many times thinking that a game was won in spite of him. The one spot that jumps out at me was the bullpen. He'd continually run the wrong guys out there at the wrong time (Shingo, Vizcaino, and especially Marte), but the other guys in the bullpen were just so damn good (Politte, Cotts, and Jenks) or lucky (Hermanson) that they almost always cleaned up the mess when needed. A manager is only as good as his bullpen.
  2. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) Job interview today at 4. Hope it goes ok. Good luck dude!
  3. It was already fun bad months ago during the Liriano no-hitter.
  4. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:14 PM) Not bad years, just bad moves. Those can have a lasting impact. A manager has bad years. The GM has bad moves that can impact the roster and payroll year after year.
  5. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) He'd have 3500 if the Sox were in the AL East... Because the Sox pitching has been the problem...
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Once again, Randy with the post of the thread. Those are indisputable facts. KW would never ever be offered another GM job; Oz will be a manager until he decides not to be a manager. No brainer indeed. KW is only 47 and he put together a WS champion. Ozzie gets credit for managing that team but KW gets none for putting it together? They both have had a couple bad years, will need some time off, but will both get jobs and have a chance to succeed. Ozzie will get the first job in FLA, but just wait to see how he acts when his owner spends zero money.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) Well, that Pirates thing was fun while it lasted. Not that anybody expected it to last very long. I hope they at least break the below .500 streak this year. It would be awesome, but I don't see it happening. Their ERA was ridiculously low for what their talent and FIP said, and they are under .500 now already. Disappointing cause that park seems so nice.
  8. That's the 2nd time it seemed like MTV rigged a Jungle. No other Jungle had been repeated, then you put the two smallest chicks vs the Amazonian girl...what did you think would happen? Hope Argentina is as entertaining as the previews make it. P.S. Jen has some very big breasts
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) I wonder if the Sox are the new Baltimore. Are we going to suck for 15 plus years? Don't you mean Kansas City? Baltimore had success in the late 90s, KC has done nothing in 25+ years. And their division doesn't have NYY or BOS.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) We're going to lose like 16-14, aren't we? QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) They are totally gonna cut it to 13-12, then Dunn will strike out with men on, and the bullpen will give up a few more on a bad play by Rios. You beat me to it by a minute!

  12. Will Ohman & the Sox offense are trying to ruin my poll!
  13. f***ing unbelievable. The one day our pitching lays a giant egg, they decide to start hitting. Burnett probably let up a bit, but still WTF.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) last offseason the entire management and coaching staffs had their jobs on the line How long are their contracts now? Could they get the boot with a 4-12 season? Not that the McCaskeys would do such a thing.
  15. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) This is absolutely brutal. I haven't seen something like this since the infamous double shelling the Twins gave us on Friday, July 6 2007. 20-14 and then 12-0 in a doubleheader. Why do I remember? I was at both games, and have the sports page from the next day framed. We are done. I remember that first game. That was a makeup from a rainout. The game got rescheduled around 4th of July, my old man and I went, cooked in the outfield, while the Sox made a valiant effort to come back from like a 14-run deficit. That day was fun bad as well.
  16. Well, it's pretty obvious that a position player will be needed to pitch tonight. Let's have some fun and pick who it will be. Winner gets a high five & OzzieBall T-shirt.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) I will admit, this is fun bad. Damn, I'm disappointed I haven't been watching. Fun bad is awesome!
  18. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) As a Packers fan, I couldn't believe they traded Olsen. What was up with that? Mike Martz doesn't believe in pass-catching non-blocking tight ends
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) maybe the Bears will be better than I think this season? (searching for positives) At the start of last season we all said they sucked and the opening schedule was too tough. Maybe we can get a repeat?
  20. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) Hahahaha, Mark Buehrle disagrees. As does Daniel Hudson
  21. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) Which position player pitches tonight? Gotta be Lillibridge
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) I really don't see how anybody could say the Bears AREN'T cheap. There's far too much evidence out there against such an argument. I will say that it'd have been almost impossible for them to fill all or most of their holes this summer with as many as they have though. So, if they are going to gradually increase spending and attempt to fill holes that route, I get the logic behind it. Last off-season they didn't seem that cheap?
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Former MSU/NFL D Lineman and Police Academy actor Bubba Smith. R.I.P. Officer Hightower
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) Well, the Tigers are 4-17 in games started by their 5th starter this year. Sound familiar? Basically, they're the 2002-2004 White Sox with two true superstars and Victor Martinez as well. Similar offensively, too, when clicking on all cylinders. One big difference. The 02-04 Sox actually had 90-win teams in their division. Most other years, these Tigers would be another 2nd/3rd place team too.
  25. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) If they get in, it would almost certainly be due to us being the tallest midget. Every other team just somehow played worse. Then they could be like the 2006 Cardinals????
