  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Don't mention Toronto without referencing the best GM in baseball. He deserves that praise. What's screwed up is that despite being the best GM, it's entirely feasible that his teams routinely struggle to make the playoffs. With the two financial juggernauts in his division, and the young talent of the Rays, it will be tough to make it out of there, even with his shrewd dealing.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) I can think of a solid 3 or so GM's who are worse than Kenny Williams. I can't think of a single manager worse than Ozzie Guillen right now. There are times watching games where I am tempted to wonder if he's ever seen a baseball game before. They're both awful, but Ozzie wins based on that. I don't know, if you look about 10 miles to the north, I think that guy has easily done a worse job.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) As harsh as it sounds there is some truth to it. I don't think he even finished high school. Yeah, I gotcha. It was the "stench of piss follows them" part of it that made me double take.
  4. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) The Guillens are rednecks. They are people who came from nothing and got rich but don't know how to handle it and the stench of piss still stays with them. Wow. Tell us how you really feel.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) Nah, the blackout game by far exceed that. This. Closely followed by the moment Alexei hit the grand slam vs DET in the make-up game. That week was something else. The most painful awesome week of baseball.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) They don't share their town with another team. We had the opportunity to seize this city. But this franchise has failed. They've failed even worse than I did when I gave my GF free reign to use my credit card after I had like 15 tequila shots this past Saturday. I agree with you 100%. Cardinals fans will be fans of that team no matter what. I'm not giving them a free pass, just commenting that there are other teams that kind of fell of the map similarily.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) Biff Tannen I actually do know him, but he's not in STL. Why would he move there from the luxury of Hill Valley, CA?
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) I don't think their falloff was nearly as bad. But this is just going to lead to an argument over semantics. The point is that the falloff was bad, and it's not very common. I see your point. But since 2003, you have the Marlins, Sox, & Cards who have all struggled relatively. Then you have the mighty powerhouse Yankees & Red Sox. The Phillies have managed to turn into a powerhouse by winning and developing when their new stadium was built, so I will give them credit. We will see what happens with the Giants when those arms start getting older and more expensive. The 02 Angels remained contenders, but the D-Backs fell off the map immediately. I just think it does happen a little more often than you think, when you don't include the beasts of the AL East. In no way am I giving the Sox a pass for the struggles, just saying that the Sox aren't the only team to have something like this happen.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) Liar. There's just no way you know everyone in that city. Try me. Name me a person in St. Louis that I don't know.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) Their falloff was pretty unprecedented. I'm not sure the Marlins (who intentionally dismantled their teams after two World Series) even went from being the champion to a joke within two years. I still can't believe that happened. St. Louis says hi.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) If he was really talking about Oney here, I have no doubt that Mark asked to leave. I have no evidence, other than the tweet. Its a gut feeling. Whether or not he asked to leave, I still have to believe his trade had more to do with his s***ty contract and play on the field, instead of just a rift with the Guillens.
  12. I only caught the last 3 innings, but that 8th inning AB vs. Sabathia may have been the ugliest AB I have ever seen in my life.
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) 24,000 for the Yankees .......................fans are sick of tiered pricing, high parking and s*** product on the field. I salute Sox fans for having balls unlike sheep at Wrigley. Where were all the Yankees fans? Usually just their presence ups the crowd to over 30k. Or were there that few Sox fans?
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 09:01 AM) WHITESOXRANDY! I don't know if it was a case of him just throwing s*** at the wall...but he looks like a genius so far. He wanted no part of Dunn from the moment we signed him. I'm sure even he didn't predict the worst batting season in recent MLB history.
  15. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Randy Moss has abruptly decided to retire from the NFL. It looked like he had already retired last season
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) Stress fracture in his lower back for Clay Buchholz, moved to the 60 day DL. Ouch. Does that mean John Lackey will have to start a playoff game for them? Uh oh....
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) Just for giggles... The Tigers have 56 games left. They are 31-25 in their last 56. If they match that, they finish 87-75. The Sox have 58 games left. They are 32-26 in their last 58. If they match that, they finish 84-78. The Twins have 56 games left. They are 33-23 in their last 56. If they match that, they finish 83-79. The Indians have 59 games left. They are 23-36 in their last 59. If they match that, they finish 75-87. AL Central = NFC West
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) Texas Rangers unofficially ban the wave. Awesome. Two thumbs up.

  20. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:50 AM) Take this FWIW - A poster on WSI claims his "good friend" is at a wedding with Sergio Santos' agent and Sergio just texted him (his agent): Quentin to Braves, Thornton to Phillies. Who the f*** gets married on a Friday? I call BS
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) Edwin pitched another good game tonight. Did we get fleeced? KW is a bad trader.
