  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) Cabrera and Gordon are probably the co-MVP's of the Royals this season. Imagine if we'd been prescient enough to get Melky instead of Rios 2 years ago. Yeah, hindsight. Cabrera's look pretty darned bad the last couple of seasons before finally rebounding in pressure-less KC. If your co-MVPs are Melky Cabrera & Alex Gordon, then you are probably in last place.
  2. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Alright f*** playing the optimist how the f*** have we yet to address the OL this is getting ridiculous And they still have yet to sign Kreutz. Old as he may be, he is still the anchor of a line after a lockout.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) A part of me really wants to see him do that to break up that shift they pull on him. I could have sworn that Big Papi has done it before.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) ChiTribRogers Phil Rogers Interesting early work at U.S. Cellular: Brent Lillibridge working w/coaches at first base. Start your trade rumors now. Meh. If Dunn is DHing & Konerko is playing 1b, this way you can bring in a pinch runner for PK, & Lilli can stay in the game and play 1b. Teahen was the 3rd 1st basemen. Phil Rogers with some outstanding journalism once again.
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) I really don't think that Samuel & Rodgers-Cromartie are that good. Samuel is a pretty good ball hawk, but he takes alot of chances. Put the film on from Rodgers-Cromartie last year and you won't see a pro bowler. Yeah, but he's their third CB now. How many teams have a nickel back as good as him?
  6. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) Nnamdi Asomugha to the Eagles. Hmph. Wow. With Samuel & Rodgers-Cromartie.
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) White Sox/Rockies trade? Wow. That would be between arguably the two worst GM's in baseball. That said, I think Danny O'Dowd is serious about trading Jiminez, but his job would be on the line. Media in Denver is lined up to crucify him, IMO. Jiminez pitches Sat vs Pads. Yanks and BoSox have a lot more to offer. Ed Wade
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) They're both overpaid, past their prime, possession receivers. Have they announced how much the contract is for?
  9. QUOTE (The '05 Sound @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) What would be think about getting Jordan Shafer back in a Quentin deal. BY NO MEANS AM I SAYING AS THE MAIN GUY IN THE TRADE. He's mlb ready, I know the Braves have been iffy on him as he hasnt shown great potential in the mlb, but he does possess speed as an outfielder and can hit. Only reason I bring it up is because we talk about all the pitching prospects that we could get, I wouldnt mind getting Shafer, I kind of like him. (and yes he has been suspended once for steroids, but whatever.) On the DL as of 07/27 (fractured left finger), so he couldn't help the MLB team for at least another two weeks.
  10. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) All Bears draft picks have now been re-signed, AA re-signed, Roach back. Got a punter, the blocking TE and a good special teamer, an upgrade at WR. Ok Ok, we're getting there, slowly but surely. Get Kreutz in the fold and make a couple splashes. It's nothing special, but they at least are taking care of some priorities. My biggest concern this season is the opening schedule. That's 3 tough games to start the season, and it's hard to dig out from an early hole.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) Yes. Because roughing up Lester again would be nothing more to me then a fluke. We've been shutdown by Bruce f***ing Chen more than once. Baseball is funny like that. But over the course of 162, that usually tell you the truth. That said, I'm not even sure we're better than the Tigers. This is pointless to be talking Red Sox and the ALDS. That would be 3 straight starts of hitting Lester hard. How many times would it have to happen to not be a fluke? Sometimes a great pitcher has a team he struggles against. If baseball is funny like that, why can't something like that happen in the playoffs? We aren't talking about 162 games either, we are talking about a single 5-game series. If the Sox pitch well, which can happen, they still have no chance to beat the mighty Red Sox?
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) Nope. 6 regular season games out of 162 don't tell much. Even if they roughed up Lester badly? Again?
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) Joel Sherman Joelsherman1 Joel Sherman Heard #Phillies might be willing to redirect D.Brown to 3d team to get prospects #Astros prefer for Pence. Hou likes #Braves prospects more 2 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply So why would the Braves help the Phillies, the team they would potentially face in the NLCS?
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) Especially one who doesn't take conditioning and off-season work as seriously as others. Just like Mark Buehrle never took it seriously for about 10 years
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) So, lets say Pence goes to ATL for some pitching. We then have: Phils Red Sox Reds in the mix for Quentin. The Reds have some catching prospects that interest me. Are the Reds still buyers? They are 6.5 back
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) How many starters do you need in a best of 5? Only 3. And I haven't heard anything about Buchholz not coming back. So they have one stud pitcher, one great pitcher who has struggled against the White Sox, and yes, Buchholz's back is starting to be a major concern. Unless they trade for a 3rd starter (which they probably will), it's not the most dangerous rotation in the world. No one is picking the White Sox to win the series or saying that they should be favored. But it is just a 5-game series, not a 162-game season, and the White Sox do have the pitching to at least compete with Boston. I think the BoSox huge offensive advantage would probably win them the series, but that's no guarantee.
  17. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) You're crazy. I'd say the Royals would have a 10% shot at beating them. The Royals just split a 4-game series with Boston at Fenway.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) I don't care about any year prior to this year. This is by far the best Red Sox team since '07. Until this team blows right past .500 and consistently scores at a 4.5-5.0 run a game clip, there's no business at even insinuating that they could run with Boston. Jon Lester's career ERA vs. the Sox is 5.94, including a 7-run drubbing this season. Beckett is a stud. Then what? Buchholz may not even come back this season. Wakefield? Andrew Miller? They had won 13 of 16 before the White Sox swept them at Fenway. The Red Sox are a very good team, but it's ridiculous to say that the White Sox don't have any chance to beat them in a 5-game series.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) That's nice. I still think we'd have no chance. One 3-game series in 4 months doesn't do a whole lot for me. Boston is 62-29 since that 2-10 start. And they still haven't gotten jack s*** from Carl Crawford yet. And the Sox still haven't gotten jack s*** from Adam Dunn yet.
  20. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) If anyone thinks we have a chance of anything more than a division title, they are nuts I concur. Against the 3 most likely AL playoff opponents, the Sox record is only 7-5 this season. No chance.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) Minor has #5 starter written all over him (#4 at best). Don't even know who the other two scrubs are. I don't know who they are either, or if they even are Braves prospects. I was joking about the Wren's dignity line. Either way, its all off the page anyway.
  22. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) No room, we have Juan. Put a sandbox in LF foul territory, he can play there all he wants.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) lol. That would be a terrible package. The prospects are OK, but I'm not very interested in Frank Wren's dignity.
