  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Cleveland is the one team in the Central the Sox have done well against. I think they take at least 2 out of 3. Its amazing, but the Sox are one good week away from being serious contenders again. which says more about the weakness of the division than the play of the Sox. It also feels like we have been saying that for about 5 or 6 weeks now
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) I think the owners didn't get rich by being stupid. They are trying to squeeze those last few bucks out of the players by putting them out there in public as the hold up. If the players vote it down, despite the deal not really being done, fans are going to hold it against the players for the most part. That's a good point. Fans yesterday were already rejoicing that the season was gonna start. Now if it suddenly is on hold again, they probably will raise an eye towards the players.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) Ill take just Fukudome to be honest. His OBP would be hella nice. If they can't find a spot for Viciedo, where the heck would Fuku play?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Why would they waste any of their limited resources in bringing in someone to play that position when they have one of the highest ranked prospects at the position ready to contribute? From the sound of it, they're going to get another outfielder in next week and possibly another starter. Exactly. That's like the White Sox trading for an OF instead of just calling up Viciedo. (Or doing neither)
  5. Remember when Tosh.0 was funny?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) Did Bernstein get this information from the same person who told him the Sox told the Guillen family they would be drafting Ozney, when in fact, they told them they would not draft him? Bernstein is a pompous ass who is a bright guy, except when it comes to White Sox baseball. Or Bernstein's person who hinted that Kaner was in rehab?
  7. QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) Boers and Bernsie were talking about this on their show today. Bernsie brought up that people he talks to tell him (take it for what you will) that there is rift between the pitchers and the offense. He phrased it as similar to a defense in football knowing they can't give up a touchdown because the offense is horrible. Bernsie said he was told he pitchers feel if they give up more than 2 runs in a game that they'll lose. Peavy mentioned after his last loss that it's tough to win when you only score 2. Coop got mad in this interview when Barry Rozner mentioned Humber had 2 bad games in a row. Coop was saying he had 1 bad inning in Detroit, but if they could hit and catch the ball it wouldn't be an issue. Sounds like the 2006 Bears or the Padres of the last 5 seasons
  8. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) who's 94th? Yogi Berra? Officer Karkovice? J.P. Arencibia?
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) I think a healthy Twins team would walk away with this division. And a Sox team with the real Adam Dunn & an Alex Rios that gave a s*** would be in 1st place right now. But that's why they play the games, right?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Because they are in first place and getting a triple A call up instead of anything at the deadline. Well their attendance has picked up a little bit, but I still dont think Indians fans should expect a huge move with this roster. Plus, Kipnis is supposed to be pretty good and is part of the future.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) Don Cherry laying it down on Carcillo At the 1:15 mark, it kind of looks like the ref comes in and gives Carcillo a jab to the face. Not my favorite signing, but over the course of an 82-game season, I guess you can use a guy like that in the lineup occasionally.
  12. Players still haven't voted on the deal nothing official yet. Owners approved it 31-0, Sqwert's favorite owner abstained as I guess he usually does for some reason
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) Yeah, but they perform just well enough at times that we exhale and inhale again Is it the Sox performing just well enough or the Tigers/Indians performing just mediocre enough to keep the Sox in it?
  14. Glad to see that football will happen, although it would have been nice if one home preseason game had been cancelled, lol. Bear Down!
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) No. John Scott can fight. Carcillo can't do anything right. And John Scott actually seems like a good guy despite his lack of skating ability. Carcillo...not so much IMO
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) The original report suggested that the 2 were related somehow. I had read that said it wa a former roommate as well...
  17. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) I don't mind the Peavy trade, JP, Jackson. Rios and Dunn... okay, busts. But the most head-scratching acquisition in the annals of KW history I think had to be Manny Ramirez. I mean, WTF? Are you serious? That move cost zero prospects, only a few million dollars, and no long-term payroll flexibility. That team was dead in the water anyway and two seasons before he carried a Dodgers team on his back to the NLCS. It didn't work out, but it was worth a shot.
  18. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) I don't mind Coop having a meltdown; as somebody else pointed out, he's the one guy we KNOW is getting the job done and yeah, it's gotta suck putting that pitching out there and then watching us lose game after game because the Sox can't even score 2 runs, even against some no-name rookie pitcher. That's funny. Against the Sox he is a no-name rookie pitcher. But in the AL Central Catch-All, the Royals have the best farm system ever and all their prospects are studs. Hmmmm.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Methinks Charlotte numbers are bloated. Hell, T-Flow was rocking a .390 obp down there. We shall see, though, as a lot of sticks down there are performing. Not Viciedo's of course.
